A boat just isn't as good of an option anymore. When you're in a boat you have to fish the same waters as everyone else. That's the whole reason I haven't been on the bass boat since I got my kayak. I catch way more and way bigger bass now. I have a trolling motor in front and 4 rods behind me and I've never felt crowded out or anything.
@fishing4charizard143 explain why you need 10 rods? Maybe a med/heavy and a lightweight rod depending what youre going after but i dont see the point in having 10+ rods when you can only throw 1 at a time
I have a lifetime fishing kayak and put a minnkota 30 with a bro craft mount bar. The control panel powers my lights and fish finder, I use lithium batteries. It gives my five hours of fishing. I didn’t know once you put a motor on a kayak, it has to be registered as a boat. I want to get a musky off a kayak!
Especially when you’re fishing rivers. My buddy and I went over a big class two rapid with a 2-3 foot drop off and he got pinned against a rock and when he got turned sideways, the current completely capsized him and he went over the ledge. Luckily, he was okay but because he didn’t have his pedals strapped down, he lost those. As well as a rod and a bunch of tackle. He lost about $1200 worth of gear. Hopefully we can find the pedals tomorrow morning with a few 300 pound magnets we bought.
@@thedanlohman unfortunately we weren’t able to recover them. We went back with a magnet and rope but only got about 3 or 4 throws before it got caught on a rock and we had to leave.
If your carrying that much stuff then you dont need a kayak you need a john boat something little bigger when i go kayaking i got maybe 2 poles and some tackle and my phone and some drinks thats it

I get sea sick when kayak fishing but having a petrol outboard mounted in my rod holders I just give it a handful for 5mins and I feel great again but try paddling while sea sick it's brutal 😔
Last weekend wind and waves flipped over my kayak just after I removed the deck hatch cover. So the water got in real quick plus battery and trolling weight, what a bad day. Lost my phone, rod and tackle box
I built my kayak trolling motor mount an when I get a fish on I just pull the motor up an fish on put it back down when I'm done an take off zooming again lol
People need to just get a jonboat lol. Packing all the stuff into a tiny space, you can’t move. It used to be you bought a kayak if you didn’t have them money to buy a Jon boat and motor, now people spend like 8k on a kayak because it is trendy
A pedal drive kayak of decent size is about 3k + tax and shipping= 3,700~ Then, yearly fishing license If you like going to lakes, you gotta think "am I going to pay 20 bucks ever time I go, or am i getting the yearly pass for a $100~$200~ Then you need to invest in paddle, crate, transportation (roof rack) or trailer, PFD, tethers, maybe an anchor, some phone holder and rod holders, gas for driving to and from, and best to wake up early to avoid high winds that can flip ya, etc... All in all, the expense goes from 3.7k to 5k~ This doesn't include a trolling motor either... or fishing gear. But it's assumed you got fishing gear already.
I realized at some point, motors just arent the way I sold my harley, my tuned out car, anything i had with an engine, motor, pedal assist, And the very first thing i replaced it all with, a fixed gear bike. Was it worth it? I go to school 36 miles away, half bus half bike. Sometimes i might bike home. Im not using my fixie lately, i upgraded to a quality hybrid (i ride street and trail, so i chose a gravel bike that could "do most thibgs") For 1 straight year, i worked full time on my bikes doing food delivery, starting with the fixie (steep hills turned out to be doable due to how light the fixie is) Anyways, My legs...my thighs doubled inside, my calfves look like meat mallets, my legs are incredibly noticeably strong, This was my goal. I spent my entire life enjoying extreme sports type stuff, skating, falling, getting injured. When i switched to vehicles i was completley free to drive, but my whole life ive known 1 thing: ride like i own it Breaking traction is just too satisfying, im gonna do it in every turn, I then looked at my friends broken collarbone from dirtbiking, and a couple of my vehicular close calls They break. Expensive. But most impirtabtly. Engines and motors are stronger and faster than me. I can slam riding my bike all i want, i dont wear helmets or anything, i just feel free this way My bike is light, i can stop on a dime, teist and contort to control my bike in a dangerous event, etc I have almost absolute control over nonn motorized things, They give me bigger muscles They make me feel satisfied No more motors, you dont need them.

With the amount of money you spend on a yak with a trolling motor and everything. You can buy a cheap aluminum boat and deck it out and still have money left over.
It’s not about money spent vs size of the boat. You don’t need a trailer for a kayak and you can put it on ponds that don’t allow bigger boats. I have a Ranger 395VS 21’ with a 225 Yamaha. I find myself using my kayak more that I do the boat due to the water I fish and the ease of use.

I love these guys that have bought their way into another activity that they think they can conquer. 2000 3000 or $4000 for a fishing kayak another 2000 in rods reels and equipment another 2000 in electronics that make a third world frigate look like a rowboat and then these guys float along the shore, catching bream and sunfish

Everything I bring on the kayak has a purpose. A couple rods just won’t do it during a tournament.

A motor can help if it's got spot lock on it. Otherwise you need an anchor.
