    Interesting ... Shortly after getting my X-T5 I brought the JJC grip and was quite happy with until I lost the 'screwdriver' and magnet. I now have the Small Rig grip you have reviewed and I am very pleased with it. I like the feel it gives. I often put the camera on the ground for really low down shots both these grips protect the base of the camera.
    I did consider the Fuji version bit I couldn't really justify the extra cost and unlike you I couldn't find one secondhand!

    Thanks for posting, I've just purchased a X-T5 and in the past I've purchased Fuji's hand grips, albeit used on ebay, for my previous camera's, so your little review here has proved most helpful. I read with interest in the comments about the Small-rig L-Bracket for the X-T5. I've found this on Amazon and it's reasonably priced.

    I got the small rig in silver to match the Camera, yes I see what you mean about the softness of the grip(only time will tell) and the screw kept loosening so I have replaced with a shallow m5 hex bolt but very comfortable especially with a long lens great and useful review

    Neewer also makes a "handle grip" that doesn't have an oversized grip like the smallrig but it doesn't seem to have overly rounded corners. The only gripe with the fuji grip other than price is the proprietary screw that doubles as the tripod mount. I would think that screw would be impossible to replace if it ever gets stripped out and seems like it would loosen the grip when removing tripod plates, etc... I would probably use some blue loctite on the grip to prevent that.

    i tried and compared JJC, Smallrig and a Meike grip for my X-T5.
    The original Fuji grip was too expensive to be considered.
    The Smallrig grip won handsomely. most comfortable and the best looking one of the 3 I tested.

    I have the small rig one and thinking about checking out the fuji for the better hand feel. The small rig actually has the strap mounting point on the bottom edge, like the JJC. Only the Fuji doesn't have it. I actually use that for a peak anchor link, and when I use a wrist strap I connect it there.

    • @JackieDElia
      @JackieDElia  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had not considered adding my wrist strap there. Thanks for sharing that. I still think that the Fuji is expensive at full price - that is why I picked mine up at KEH, you just have to be patient until one pops up. I did think the Smallrig was comfortable.

    I’m a big fan of L plates vs just a plate on the bottom and just picked up a used, like new Small Rig 4137. I was surprised at how nice it was for the price. As nice as it is the quality pales in comparison to what Really Right Stuff offers. Since all of my other Fujis, and every Canon camera before that have or had RRS L plates on them, as soon as they’re back in stock I’ll be ordering an RRS L plate to replace the Small Rig.

    I have both the Small Rig and the Fuji grips...and I prefer the Fuji, even if it is a bit pricey (I also found it at KEH). Personally, I would love to see the X-T5 with the grip from the X-S10/20. I've yet to meet anyone who doesn't love the X-S grip.

    I tried the Fujifilm one and the Small Rig. Don't know why Fuji does not make one that duplicates the experience of the H2 grip which is great. I stayed with the Small Rig. The softness was not that big a deal and for me the important feature was that the grip is deeper than the Fuji which still seems to be designed for small hands.

    Great review, very helpful to me. Unfortunately, the Fuji is too pricey. I had the X-T4 and recently got the X-T5. My genuine Fuji grip for X-T4 is like new, and is only worth $4 if KEH buys it!! So, choose wisely, cause there is NO real resale value for these accessories when you upgrade.

    I was having a little chuckle to myself watching this. As I am an old dude and used 35mm cameras for many years that never had grips on them, makes you wonder how we managed. Simple, I hold my camera with my left hand, the base is resting in the palm and my finger and thumb are around the lens. When I bring it up to my eye my right hand is there to steady it (not grip it) and press the shutter. My left hand is in the correct place to manual focus, Zoom, or change the aperture ring. And better still that method costs me nothing. Give it a try. You do have a very soothing voice that is pleasant to listen to.

    • @JackieDElia
      @JackieDElia  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. For me, I never thought I needed a grip before, but as cameras have gotten smaller, it does make it easier to hold. The additional bonus of having the built-in Arca Swiss plate is a plus for me. I know you can buy a small square plate to put on the bottom of your camera, but then you can’t rest it easily on a table or your desk. The grip solves that problem for me.
