  • www.timothyseam... A new solo interpretation of the American Civil War era Christmas song by John Henry Hopkins. (1857)
    Timothy Seaman uses numerous techniques including key changes upward, two-note and three-note separated hands sections, dampers, freely chosen chord groupings, and a spontaneously improvised interlude at each juncture. The instrument is a Dusty Strings D600 hammered dulcimer.
    A creative, spontaneous ensemble arrangement can be found on Timothy's holiday album Profound Joy, with audio samples at timothyseaman.c....
    We three kings of orient are:
    Bringing gifts, we traverse afar;
    Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
    Following yonder star.
    'Born a king on Bethlehem's plain,
    Gold I bring to crown him again,
    King forever, ceasing never,
    Over us all to reign.'
    'Frankincense to offer have I;
    Incense owns a deity nigh.
    Prayer and praising, all men raising:
    Worship him, God most high.'
    'Myrrh is mine; its bitter perfume
    Breathes of life of gathering gloom;
    Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying,
    Sealed in the stone-cold tomb.'
    Glorious now behold him arise:
    King and God and sacrifice.
    Alleluia, Alleluia, earth to heaven replies.
    Star of wonder, star of night,
    Star with royal beauty bright,
    Westward leading, still proceeding,
    Guide us to thy perfect light.
