I recently started making simple kitchen knives out of saw blades. I haven’t used them enough to know if they hold an edge. Do you know if the whole blade is hardened?
It depends what kind of saw you have, if I would use this one Chinese cleaver would be to flimsy. Big hand saw like the one to fall trees would work sure, or look for saw blade big enough
Very well done.. I've been thinking of doing this with a "Skill Saw" blade and wasn't sure how I could soften the handle area to drill the holes. Also I wondered if it would sharpen well. You've answered both of these questions. THANK YOU.
Nice. I have several woodworking tools I want to make of an old saw blade and this gives me some good tips.
Glad I could help!
Well done! Love the editing!
I like the wood you used for the handle! Looks beautiful!
Thank you so much!
I've always thought about doing something like this thanks for showing its possible
You welcome!
You’ll have fun making one!

That would depend on the saw I guess, try to find old ones, those will be most likely hardened all the way
How about the edge retention on this material?
Would this work for a larger kitchen knife?
Like to make a Chinese style flat edge vegetable knife?

Awesome idea I’ve got about a dozen old handsaw’s laying around that would make a great material! Love the videos keep them coming!
Thanks man! Yeah give it a go! Good starting for knifemaking too!
I just picked up a heap of old saws. I look forward to giving this a go. Thanks for the video. What’s the longest blade you would do with this?
Awesome Job!!!!
Thanks, Bobby!

No heat treatment?

Thanks, buddy!
Millä voitelet kädensijan?
Hyvä. 👍
Is the glue necessary?
No, but then you need to pean your pins with a hammer
Sorry for asking but why heating the handle area?
I brought it to critical temp to soften the metal so I could drill holes easier.
Самый быстрый и четкий нож 👍👍👍 респект ✌🏻🇷🇺
Спасибо, бро!
i love you :)
I love you too, my boy!
Don't cut paper.. a butter knife will cut paper if sharpened. Thin slice a tomato
Easier to buy 😥
That is correct, yes. The point of this video, however, is to show people how to do it yourself. Hope it makes more sense now.
