About the story with the 24 "father" of the 35 year old: can we just acknowledge and show respect to the sister for just needing a stare to stop the whole thing?
@@hernameispekka_Rebecca but also, a silent stare dead in the eyes does wonders. Really gets annoying people to shove it. See, they want a response, a reaction to inform them that they're important/validated and a vocal response does just that. The content of the response doesn't matter too much, just that you're talking to them which they see as validation. They take "any attention is good attention" to extremes (knowingly or otherwise). A blank stare is a response but not the one they want.
Tommy was 100% right. That dude collected her as the final piece. Not a second do I believe he doesn't know EVERY woman that dude has every dated, let alone married.
@@sammy135_ This is so unfortunately accurate. I feel sorry for her, she's probably treated like this constantly. But sweetheart also needs to work on her self-preservation instincts.
1. Industry heavy weight 2. Front man 3. Guitarist 4. Signature guitar style 5. Married to ex 7 years 6. She speaks damn near identical to OP Like she said. Metal heads would likely sus it out immediately, very right
Last story felt very cultish in the language the husband and brother in law were using. Did anyone else notice this? "Some never come back", "surender mind body and soul", "or be destroyed"?
YES. I thought that was really, really weird. It made me wonder what the BIL and the husband had been doing together for the last three years, and with whom.
I don’t like people blaming her too much cause some men are VERY good at hiding their flaws. This narrative of women needing to be more alert and careful is so over. Educate boys. Period EDIT : my comment seems to create lot of debate lmao, so here are my other takes on the matter : - some of you are quick to judge, and I’m 100% you can end in such situation. it can happen to anyone. Picture this, you’re dating someone : it means you’re allowing yourself to be vulnerable (to some extent) with them, socializing romantically, no one is alert 24/7 in this context. I understand her lack of awareness cause she wasn’t prepared for this level of scheming. I know it’s hard to defend her lol, but I know why I do -people saying she should have LefT immiDiatELy say this because they have the comfort to hear about the story not living it. Standing up and leaving is a good thing to do, BUT staying and being nice to someone who showed a weird behavior IS a survival instinct. Don’t argue with crazy just nod and smile lmao, block him when you get home, keep your distance once you’re safe! point is, she had her reasons not to stand up and leave. People treating her like a character in a show wishing she’d done something else are not considering this is real life. If he did this weird thing right before, what prevents him from confronting/following her etc? I get her and I will die on this hill !!!!! Ahah 😹
@ahlrequin he wasnt really hiding it though. He quite literally had a shrine to her ex. Its very obvious at that point what's going on. Kinda hard to miss that.
@@ahlrequin No the moment the guy confessed he got to know HER FRIEND to get to know her, she should have stood up, walked out and blocked him. Not finish dinner with him and tell him they can be friends! That's a total lack of survival skills.
I can't get over the story about the 24 yo 'Phil' trying to be the dad to 3 adult people that were older than him. I'm also dying over them calling him daddy
I also thought it was funny that after the "princess" comment that he made to the daughter, she was never brought up again. She must’ve cut ties or something. 😭
Not enough people are talking about how CREEPY the mom in the 3rd story is. She's 58 yrs old dating a 24 y/o and with her kid being 35, and assuming the dad was the same age as her, they'd have been about 23/24 when their son was born. Idk about you but it sounds like there's something deeply psychological going on and the mom needs therapy.
It is really hard to talk to someone in a dysfunctional relationship without them getting super defensive and possibly even cutting contact. I think the parents of the 24 year old and the OP and his siblings did the best they could with thr cards they were dealing with. The 24 year old could have easily cut contact with his family anytime so I can see why they didn't immediately turn hostile
Right? It’s TERRIFYING!! Both of those people are so messed up mentally, but especially the mom obviously for wanting to date a basically child and HAVE a child with them when she’s nearing retirement age!!!
literally join a travelling circus move countries 4 times in 2 years, u name it. it’s such a shame truly. we all deserve 2 live n not just survive, to live w/o fear n to thrive all while being true to ourselves, not changing/hiding that especially cuz of ppl who don’t live your life, you do. no hurting anyone basic respect n kindness n ur good
The lucid dreamer kinda ticked me off when he said i WASNT able to stop. He was and is capable of stopping it since he can control his dreams he just didnt WANT to stop. On the last story it sounds to me that the husband and brother in law might secretly be in love with each other and this is their way of having time together
That dude is a prime example of what Shayne brings up sometimes. These OPs are presumably trying to present the version of their story that paints them in the best light, but they _still_ say things like that and wonder why the consensus is "YTA"
The lucid dreaming is exactly the same as if he was spending hours stalking her social media. He was being unfaithfull emotionally to his wife. Also the last one makes me think he has fallen for the bil and is in denial.
The wife didn’t out Gaycation husband until he told his parents that she wanted to go cheat in Manchester. HIS mother called her screaming at her, because he told a one sided story. If he’d been respectful and vague, she would not have HAD to out him on Gaycation. If you’re having sex with people of the same sex, the opposite sex, or whatever, in an open relationship with agreements and you LIE TO PEOPLE to make your spouse out as a CHEATER, then they are allowed to tell the TRUTH, even if it OUTS you. YOU THROW OPEN THE DOOR TO BEING OUTED AND SHOVE THEM THROUGH IT WHEN YOU LIE TO BLAME THEM.
1:31:52 Yall totally missed the fact that he literally LIED to his parents saying that SHE was the one who wanted to cheat and all she said was "ask him about the gaycation" after he had tried to blame her for getting kicked out
YES! Thank you! I don't mind them talking about and discussing hypotheticals but OP literally said that HIS mom called HER berating HER for sleeping around.
Yeah that's what I was thinking, I agree with most of what they said but if he hadn't lied about her to his mum then she wouldn't have needed to say anything at that point
I was going to point that out when they were saying the family was getting mad at the son being gay, I think it was not for that but that he LIED to them and tried to make it the wife's fault.
yeah I hope that his dad was that angry with him for wanting to cheat on his wife and lying to them about her being the one who cheated or would've cheated but there is a strong chance it has to do with them being bigots. again I hope it's the first thing
the gaycation story is almost EXACTLY like the work trip story from another episode where the "altitude" made that guy "temporarily gay". like please someone give these men a hug and tell them its ok to be gay
She NEVER went to the parents to tell them what was going on! The mom called her to rage because the husband said SHE was going to dance the devil’s tango in Manchester with who knows who-all. Even then she didn’t say what he was up to, just told the mom to ask him about it. She seems so level-headed,no way I could stay so calm.
I do agree. He outed himself, because he lied to his parents. Unfortunately, that turn around is 100% why he never sorted out his sexuality/preferences before marriage.
i understand why she didnt tell the mom directly though because when she told her sister-in-law she didnt believe it because its frankly unbelievable and outlandish. and i imagine her husband was so brainwashed that she knew he would just admit it because of all those phrases he kept repeating to justify it
1:31:00 let’s not forget the husband told his parents about the “pass” he gave OP to make her look bad. Mil called HER screaming calling her names, op didn’t volunteer it for no reason
THANK YOU! I was listening to that part waiting for the off screen correction, but she totally wasn’t instigating!!! She told her SIL because her husband was involved, but HE’s the one who got his parents involved
Yeah, this whole little segment I kept thinking “His parents aren’t upset because he might be gay, they’re upset because he and his BIL came up with a psychotic way to cheat on their wives and feel no remorse”. It’s not that his wife ‘outed him’, she was screamed at and she told them about his plan. If they’d been planning a ‘straightcation’ I really think the story would’ve panned out much the same way.
@@thatsmallsquid7817 I don't think they insinuated she instigated. But I know outing someone is seen by many as a no-go in most situations because of how dangerous it can be. I'm not blaming the woman for doing it in this case, but I do think it's a fair question to be brought up since it's a well known thing (at least among many lgbt+ people and allys) that you simply do NOT out someone. Since she was clearly wronged here, not only in the situation but how he framed the situaiton, I totally understand why she did it and I think it was ok... but it is a very valid topic to consider
I mean, he claims he isn’t gay so she wasn’t outing him… remember, what happens on Gaycation stays on Gaycation. You simply cannot force others to lie for your antics. Period.
I was on the FLOOR with that icecream story. The idea of him just sprinting away with the icecream and then her finding him hunched over eating it like a little goblin is insanely funny
About the lucid dreamer: Let's not forget that the girl in his dreams is an idealized version and nit the real person. He has feelings for an *idea* of jer, not the actual person.
yes!! this!! he doesnt really know this woman anymore, they both moved on and were engaged to different people, she's just an idea of who she was when they were younger in his head. plus, as someone who lucid dreams often, even people you're really close with irl will be a bit off in lucid dreams for the most part. he's not dreaming about the real her, he's dreaming of some fairytale high school sweetheart + slightly muddily groggy dream-made version of her
That's the main reason why I really hope he doesn't attempt to start a new relationship with her. Im positive he will end up hurting her as well because she isn't what he thinks she is
1:32:45 I’m sorry y’all. He stopped having the right to privacy when he used the situation to manipulate his parents into attacking his wife by telling them she wants to hook up with other men and leaving out the part where he’s going to Ibiza to do the same.
This here. Obviously outing anyone isn't great, but, I honestly think the wife told his parents to ask about the gaycation was so that they could *see* how deluded he was in his own lie, because of how outright bizarre it was.Which while it has everything to do with sexuality in this context, the extent of his delusion is what really bothered her, and I think she just wanted other people to bear witness to that so they could understand what tf was going on. And and, also, it's not her fault she didn't feel like beating around the bush. The dude needs a reality check. That's what this was.
I completely agree, she wouldn’t have said anything about the gaycation if he wasn’t making her out to be the bad guy to his parents simply because she turned the scenario on him… and honestly he’s the one with internalized homophobia, his wife isn’t even the homophobic one like he keeps saying… she’s more mad about him wanting a free pass to run around and cheat while on vacation in Ibiza 🤮
Yeah, they were so certain that this is a normal thing straight guys do that it’s kinda warped my sense of reality too. Like, apparently a lot of straight guys are doing it, how do I know it’s not for me without giving it a try? 😅
reminds me of a tumblr post I think that was a guy that sat his boyfriend down all tearful and "came out of the closet" to him like babe I think I might be gay and his boyfriend was like no shit !
1:30:39 The thing is she didn't go out of her way to out him. His parents called her accusing her of being a cheater and screaming at her. She, making a very good observation (that he outright lied to them, blaming it all on her) just pointed them in the right direction. She didn't even correct them straight away (probably realizing they wouldn't believe her), she just gave them enough info to call him on his lies. The husband could have gone through this the right way, but he's been so brainwashed he's not seeing the insane mistake he's making. Communication is key and honestly I was thinking it for a long time, but there were ways to do something without like a threesome. Thank you Tommy for saying it!
I love Chanse's rant about how being gay isn't just about sex. I'm bi and have only ever been in hetero relationships, but that doesn't make me any less bi. And I love both his and Tommy's chaos energy in this
I mean sure is a nice sentiment but it doesn't really make sense with the story (the gaycation is definetely about sex) and is kinda rich coming from the most stereotypical gay man who has in fact slept with a lot of people, as he himself has claimed multiple times And back to the story, if its not about having sex with men, he can be gay at home with this wife and kids. He doesnt need to isolate from hid life and go to another country with a bunch of men including his brother-in-law
@@pipope26 In my experience, Chance really seems like he gives people the extreme benefit of the doubt. A couple of times on Reddit stories, it has led him to defend people who were definitely being awful. Not actually knowing him, I speculate that this is naivete combined with having a very good heart himself -- ascribing his own good, kind intentions to those who don't share them. Also, no matter how stereotypical he is or how much sex he has, that doesn't mean it's "kinda rich" for Chance to correctly say that being gay isn't just about sex.
Exactly my boyfriend and I are both bi and we both are loyal to only each other, but when we watch movies we can agree the same people are hot lol it's kinda nice.
Not happy with how OP in the gay-cation story is getting flack. As a gay person - she didn't out him. She was getting attacked because the husband was a liar and wanted to cheat on her without consequences. She did not explicitly tell MIL that her son was gay - because OP already said she was confused about it/wasn't sure if he was. She said 'ask about the gay-cation', not your son is gay. She is not responsible for the in laws reaction. I'm sure if she wasn't getting screamed at she would have thought about a better way of wording it.
She's not getting flack lol. This comment reminds me of when people say female predators get no judgement when literally almost everyone is justifiably judging them.
Per the last story: as a queer peraon, I actually think its quite homophobic to keep reiterating how the gay sex they will be having on the gaycation "doesnt matter" and "doeant make them gay". Like if u both identify as men and have sex.....thats gay sex! The way theyre framing the experience as like a cultural visit is just wild.
Absolutely, it reeks of intense internalised homophobia: 'I want to do gay things, but only in a way that is absolutely NOT GAY. I would NEVER be GAY'. His revulsion at the idea of being seen as anything but straight is pretty damn telling. Like, as Chanse said, you can absolutely have gay sex and not be gay/bi/etc, but if you need to scream from the rooftops how incredibly incredibly straight you are - while planning your ~gaycation~ to cheat on your wife with men- , you need to examine that before you hurt (more) people.
1:31:30 For that matter, aren't the dudes being homophobic too?.... Like the way they speak about it like it's a straight thing were just feelings don't matter and having sex with other men like just objects for release....idk, maybe i'm getting it wrong, but.... dude... just accept you like men, it's not a big deal.
It's a big thing for them because they view homosexuality as a sin, but it's one thing to experience it once and forget about aka pray for forgiveness and you are good to go, and it's another thing to accept your sexuality and "live in sin".
As a gay man, it’s very odd. Some straight men (who may or may not be straight) very much believe that you can “choose” to be gay and they want to “just be gay” for a little while, which explains the gaycation thing, these men are actively being homophobic while sexualizing gay men.
I think the biggest deal breaker on the ice-cream story should be that his first instinct was to try to gaslight her to such an extreme, and frankly insulting, level; that in his mind it was possible he could convince her none of that just happened.
I'm actually worried that he has a health problem if his personality just changed 180° like that. like a brain tumor or something? I think people with brain damage will also change their explanations repeatedly because they themselves can't make sense of their actions Edit: ok I was wrong, commented before the end, but still that's where my thoughts went because of how unhinged his behaviour was
Him getting defensive at the question made me mad too. Bi people always get dismissed, but bi men definitely have it worse or dismissed as "oh you're gay." It's so insulting. Bi men are normal.
As a fellow bi (woman tho) I’m hella upset too. Like why is being bisexual so baffling even to people who could be bi?? So annoying! He’s not going about it correctly but there’s nothing wrong with being bi
@@Djinnerator Of course, everybody knows that. The gaycation is like a barrier that makes the gay bead off your back similar to water off a duck's feathers.
I love Shane saying "If I hear that one more time" to "what happens on the gaycation stays on the gaycation" because that was my thought too when I first heard that story
for real it seems like an elaborate excuse for the brothers in law to leave their wives and be with each other!!! like they’d still be in a shit situation but it would be honest and not this weird dance with the gaycation where they make their wives the villains
So glad Story 5 worked out! It's her FIRST sewing machine!! And puppet's are harder to make than you'd think!!! The puppet may look silly, but she put her her OWN projects on hold and splurged on puppet materials to make HIM a gift before using her new machine to craft anything for HERSELF! That's a real expression of love on her part!!! Not to mention, sewing supplies aren't cheap. As a fellow autist/artist I understand that this is her way of expressing love, by tying her favorite person to her favorite hobby! It shows how important he is to her. So glad they communicated and he loved the gift, and that OP was encouraged to not give up on the things that bring her joy!
4:15 caveat: she absolutely should not have come clean when she was IN THE MAN’S BASEMENT WITH A SHRINE SHE FEELS (in some way) CONNECTED TO. DANGER. that’s a way to make sure you never leave that room that’s all im saying
i love how Chanse and Tommy confidently said the puppet story was a 10 on the wild scale before hearing it when it actually turned out to be not only the most tame story out of all of these, but so sweet and wholesome that they both almost cried
Gaycation. She didnt out him. He lied to his mom, his mom called her and crapped on her, she simply told the mom to ask her son about the gaycation. Fair game. If you want someone to protect your sexuality - don't cheat on them.
In defense of the wife from the gaycation story, she only told the parents to ask about the gaycation after the mother in law cussed HER out for being the cheater. The husband lied to them to make himself look better. The wife was just defending herself. She doesn't strike me as homophobic, but his parents do.
THANK YOU! She was very open about being accepting the possibility that her husband isn’t straight. However, like any other sane person, she doesn’t want to be cheated on.
The last story was insane, the way they kept repeating the same phrases made it sound like they're in a cult. Anyways, awesome trio and please please please consider doing an animal/pet focused episode! I feel like there are so many funny stories with them lol
By the end when a bootcamp was mentioned it clicked that they are in a sort of cult. They had it so rehearsed and the way they're calm while saying it's like "So which one does the bending?" And it's like if I was the wife I wouldn't care if he was bi or gay, but be honest!
@@HillaShxyeeeah when the BIL started bringing up hypnosis it got even more suspicious. Not to kink shame but it just sounds so suspect! “Submit mind body and soul” yeah no that’s a cult!
At 38, there is no world where I wouldn't laugh uncontrollably if my mom's 24 year old partner asked me to call them dad. Her current fiancee is a couple years older than her and has never once mentioned wanting to be called mom. I think she's just happy we're all chill since there are other family members who unfortunately aren't.
As a 24 year old, I similarly find the idea of treating somebody more than a decade my senior like they were my child (against their will, no less) absolutely baffling
right???? in the case of my mother's wife (who, btw, is only a couple years younger than my mum, so, nothing weird there like with that kid), though she never asked me to or even implied she *wants* to be called that, i do *sometimes* refer to her as my "bonus mum", but like, 90% of the time, i call everyone (her, my dad, my mum, my sister, my grandparents, etc.) just... by their first names, both when talking *to* and *about* them (provided the people i'm talking to KNOW that those are the names of my family members, and that that's whom i'm talking about lol) like, in my perspective, all these terms denoting relation, are not "status symbol" terms once you (the "child") are an adult, it's just either a continuation of what you were used to in your childhood (which for me, i stopped calling my parents "mum" and "dad" surprisingly early), or a general term of 3rd person reference, to note you're talking about who birthed and/or raised you. if anything, i think there's more respect and connection when using first names, because it shows there's no barrier and you are in some capacity equals who can trust each other! anyway, all this to say, i'm 24 myself and i could not IMAGINE someone unironically wanting, asking, or expecting that shit lmaooo then again, i wouldn't be supportive of my parents dating someone my age 😬😬 luckily, i know they have more self* respect than that, and would never...
I’ve been wanting them to cover the gaycation post and I’m so glad they finally did 😭 the “cultural exchange with the gay community” part is so iconic to me
In the third story, even without the whole thing with OP and his siblings being older than their mom‘s fiancé, never try to force your step kids refer to you as a parent. It will absolutely ruin any potential relationship you want to have with them
Yeah the best way is I can't and don't want to replace your parent but we could be really good friends. and over time you can figure out what you feel comfortable calling our relationship.
so true! my dad got married when I was 9 and I feel like my stepdad did help raise me, and I've always referred to him as my stepdad, but in person I just call him by his name because, you know... I have a dad already. it's been 12 years and we have a beautiful relationship and I love him so much, all because he didn't try to force me into anything
Yep. Also, all kids are way into adulthood. You're just marrying the love your life. I think the fiancé loves the idea of being a father more than he loves his [now ex-]fiance.
i think the parents being angry with him definitely could've been based in homophobia but also think about how he was willing to ruin his marriage of 16 years to a women who they without a doubt regard as family, without a word to her and how that might anger a parent to hear their child acting that way to someone they love (OP) ... he was literally going to go on this trip with his sisters husband like.... COME ON. they basically made a pact and joined a cult i would say joining a cult is way more condemnable to a conservative family or father than the possibility of being gay... but ya neva know gah damn this was an amazing AITA
If you're talking about the first story, it actually made me a little mad that the comments were almost screaming at her "hey, this might be dangerous and he's using you" and she just went with the guy again??? Like, seriously, *survival instincts, anyone??* It's okay if she didn't realize in the first place, but after SO many people told her? It's absurd
@ understandable, it is definitely quite baffling the fact that she didn’t immediately gtfo as soon as her date shared his basement shrine of her ex-husband with her but in general, it’s nice to see a bunch of Internet strangers coming to help someone
I think she said it weird but I think she meant to she's not ready to *stop having children*. Which for a woman her age, I get, because they were so conditioned from birth that the only purpose in life for a woman is having and taking care of children. (Just because it's the internet it needs to be said .. understanding =\= condoning)
The gaycation guys parents absolutely deserved to be told. He ran to them. Lied and said she cheated. His mother called her and screamed at her calling her a bunch of names. He earned that retaliation.
Not enough people talking about how absolutely adorable it is that those dorky Disney adults persevered and thrived in the face of cynical Reddit users. Chanse hit the nail on the head saying there’s truly someone for everyone.
I have a newborn baby and watched these the whole time I was pregnant, my baby was crying and I was looking for something to watch…as soon as I turned this on and Shane started talking my baby stopped crying
1:04:50 Shayne always has a direct line to my brain because despite me being a sex-repulsed asexual, I did mutter “please just say you had sex” at the start
Felt that!! It’s such an ick for me when people dance around the word. To me, if you’re an adult and can’t say the word you’re either around children a lot, very religious, or not at all mature enough to be having sex. As an Alosexual person of someone could say the word I would be turned off so fast
@@caffeinatedkatie4696I mean even in other Reddit stories it’s so weird to be like “then we did the horizontal mambo” like it’s two three-letter words!
I think it can be a funny ha-ha or fine to do in some occasions but if it’s like completely avoided every single time like in the story it does give me the cringe of ick. Also hello fellow ace viewer 💜
I'm guessing she was married to Corey Taylor from Slipknot. She's actually done very public articles that sound exactly like the first OP, and they were married for 7 years
Gonna push back a tiny bit on Shayne saying that the Woman in the last story shouldn't have "Outed" him to his parents. She NEEDED to "Out" him in that moment because He LIED that she had CHEATED! The MIL called her A WHORE! She was not outing him, she was Clearing her name! I get the angle that Shayne was going for but she did nothing wrong, he blew up their lives and left it to everyone but himself to fix things!
So did she "NEED to out him" or did she "not out him"? You can't have it both ways. (I think she did out him, but had little choice given what was happening. In a perfect world she could have done something different, but being screamed at by your mother in law because your husband lied to her is far from a perfect world.)
Shayne was simply asking the question. It was a reasonable thing to question and hear their take on considering how "last resort" outing is for most people because of how dangerous it can be. It was an important aspect to consider here. I agree with shayne that I don't blame the woman for doing it here. But she did kinda out him.
The gay-cation story reminds me of the guy who claimed being at certain altitudes made you gay. “You do it when you’re there, but when you get back, it doesn’t count.” The delusion is so real…
1:09:23 Bro heard someone say "How do you know you aren't gay if you've never had sex with another guy" and said TRUE, let me cross that of the list as soon as possible
"Submit or be destroyed" who says that in a casual way and not as a joke, MULTIPLE TIMES. It comes across like he's serious worried he'd be atomized if he doesn't submit to the gaycation It's either a cult thing, or him and the brother in law needed a reason to do gay stuff and arnt good at improve so they wrote a script and they didn't know what to do when it didn't work so they just kept following the script lol
I keep thinking about how this indoctrination was happening behind the scenes for probably a long time. Like those two are grilling or something, and brother in law starts seeding the idea of a gaycation. They’re alone in the kitchen for a short while on Christmas and he’s talking about the beauty of the gaycation. On and on until they’re both into it and very much on message.
1:31:40 nah she didn't out him to his parents. She had to say that because he went to them and told them she wanted to sleep with a bunch of men in Manchester. Was she supposed to tiptoe around that to protect him when he was just slandering her?
In the last story I bet the brother in law and the husband were already hooking up and try to find a way to go vacation together saying it's a gaycation
Somehow the story about someone creating an almost to-scale felt puppet of their partner only 6 months into a relationship, had the least intense or tragic ending.
1:26:50 I love how uncomfortable Tommy is about the story until he makes eye contact with Chanse realizing they are on the same page. They both are gay and both know the motive in the story is disrespectful toward their community.
ughhh as a metalhead it’s really hard not knowing who the first story’s ex is. in metal, the popular artists don’t really come and go like in other music genres, similar to classical music, they just accumulate. it’s not too hard to group them but it’s just the fact that so many bands have so many people. it’s driving me crazyyy
1:31:56 I think, to be clear, the homophobia is actually coming from and rooted in the husband who wants to go experience the gaycation in Ibiza. The queer community, and gay men, are not your petting zoo, we’re not your aquarium, and we’re not some grand experiment. This is our life. To find camaraderie with other queer people, to express ourselves through sex and lust and music and art, to community build, to dance, to get shitty tans- it’s all queer, and it’s beautiful, and it’s sacred. That’s the beauty of the gay-cation. When you set foot in it just to take and leave nothing of value behind, that’s the most homophobic shit you can do. I don’t care if he’s not gay, I don’t care if it’s experimentation, that’s a journey that you figure out through the support of your community, whatever that means to you, and internally.
Why’s everyone ragging on these two enterprising amateur cultural anthropologists? I for one look forward to the phd dissertation inevitably springing from this whole affair. 😅
As a straight woman, that was my first thought. I didn’t want to speak for the gay community, but I felt very icky about how he kept referring to it in terms of “observing.” As if gay people are something to gawk at or “experience.” Some of the best times I’ve had are at drag shows and gay bars because it is such a happy, loving, welcoming atmosphere. I can understand wanting to experience that. But the way the husbands talked about it was not that.
I felt icky about that too. I'm not a gay man, I'm a bisexual woman but the whole thing just felt... weird. Like an advertisement for an immersive zoo experience or something 🧐 I do wonder where they got the idea from, because for both of them to just be repeating those key phrases over and over again is super strange to me.
Boy Dad story has one other element that's kind of glossed over: they were only dating for a few months (June to Autumn). The Mom is rushing into this, and steamrolling her children to make it happen. Everyone should be more concerned with the Mom's sudden turn for selfish behavior.
The puppet story is an all-timer. The writing, the sex references, the 1:1 puppet, the fact that the relationship survived; perfection. I was literally cackling in my car upon first listen. Big John (and therefore Normal John) will forever go down as a Reddit Stories legend.
this is the most insane episode yet. every single one of these stories had me crying laughing at how insane and confusing and ridiculous they were. i cannot believe he stole that man’s ice cream. 😭
When I was 25 my mom remarried without telling anyone. I met the guy once. The 2nd time I met him he said to me that I clearly needed a father figure. I just responded with, "I'm 25. I can take care of myself. I'm my own father figure thanks." And walked away. I hated that guy from that moment on. They got divorced only a couple years later.
The last story is insane 😂 All the phrases were so completly absurd 😂 I felt so sorry for the wife but I also laughed so hard about the all the nonsense the husband said
The boy who wants to be a father so bad sounds like he’s freaking out that he won’t ever be a father because of the age of the woman he’s marrying. If it’s so important to him, adopt or marry someone else.
That’s my thought! If you wanna be a dad why marry someone who probably can’t have kids?? And OP said they wanted to try IVF? Pregnancy is risky at 38, let alone 58 where you’ve already gone through menopause! So odd!
Yes this! People need to think more before they have kids. Not just financial stuff but everything else, health, time, energy, the type of childhood they will have. THINK BEFORE YOU HAVE KIDS
51:02 It's crazy because you can tell he's not upset about losing his wife he's upset about losing the marriage and in assuming the benefits that come with it
3:08 girl i wouldnt be worried about him freaking out and leaving, id be worried about him bombarding you with questions about him because obviously he idolizes him. And yes he HAS to know. 8:26 how did i predict this
That whole story is so weird to me, yes it’s weird that he knew, but she was clearly trying to paint him as this creepy weirdo through the whole story and he actually seemed kinda chill and understanding about it. Like he didn’t “trick” her into “confessing” like she said, he brought her down because he thought it would spark the conversation about it. She’s making him out to be way worse than he was.
@@jjjfo1818 he is a creepy weirdo. He became friends with one of her friends just to get to close to her, not even because he liked OP but because he likes her husband.
@@jjjfo1818 I don’t know how you can hear about how this guy sought her out while _knowing_ who she is, showing her a shrine of her EX HUSBAND hoping it would make her reveal who she is, and then when she tries to break it off due to incessant inappropriate questions, immediately hounds her for VIP tickets… and I don’t know how you can say he wasn’t a creep. This is 110% creep behavior and it’s so scary to me that you can’t recognize that.
It hurts my heart that Reddit was so mean to puppet lady that she genuinely thought her relationship was over. Her post is absolutely cringe, but she didn't deserve cruelty for it! I really hope Reddit didn't didn't do long-term damage to her self-esteem or squash her unbridled weirdness
Being the sister in law in the last story seems like the worst thing in the world. Not only is her husband planning to cheat on her, so is her brother on his wife in the same way. Like, both her husband and brother have been lost to this delusion
He’s got a good head on his shoulders - lots of good wisdom to share for a younger guy. I really enjoy listening to him speak about serious subjects and love his grounded energy!
That last story was a wild ride 😳 honestly the way they spoke about it and repeated “what happens at the gaycation, stays at the gaycation” reminded me of a cult 😳 The internalised homophobia is crazy in this story 🥺 I don’t know if I’d say she outed him, just defended herself, but the parents reaction crossed a line on all accounts and so did the husband for getting them angry with her to begin with, we can sympathise with what he’s going through, but an internal struggle with sexuality doesn’t mean we get to throw our wife of 16 years under the bus 🥺
Dude when the mother shouted "You're a joke!" She wanted to so badly believe her daughter in law cheated on him over what the freak a gaycation is. And then they aren't like "Okay if you're gay or bi just say that we won't be mad." They threatened to call the cops if he didn't leave.
It's the "we must submit and be destroyed" that made it feel cult like to me It comes across like he's serious afraid he's going to be atomized or something if he doesn't go to cheat on his wife in a different country lol
@@nugget3687 The comment asking if they were talking to a dom was on the money, it really does read like sissy hypno f/tish stuff, but they're completely lost in the sauce at this point. The bootcamp thing definitely sounds cult though
@@aarOuOn this is kind of wrong to say but I keep imagining after the big gaycation they get dressed and cleaned up then go "That was great... Off to my wife. See ya next month fellas!"
For the dream wife story: you know if this was a romcom The audience will be rooting for him and his ex’s relationship and they would villainize the wife and pain her out to be a jealous witch lol
When they said he heard that the metal community is super chill and they get their anger out through the music, one of my favorite band shirts says "Angry Music for Happy People". August Burns Red really showcases that whole idea
As the younger person in an age gap relationship (30 & 55) with someone who has kids from a former marriage who are 18 & 20, there's no way in hell I'd expect them to think of me as their parent or try to enforce that in any way. That's so strange and emotionally unstable and just proves that this 24 year old isn't ready to be in an age gap relationship, because his brain isn't fully formed and he doesn't see himself as an adult yet. No one should be in an age gap relationship before they're AT LEAST 25, if not 30 (speaking as someone who also had a fantastic relationship at 23 with 69 year old), and regardless of age, you should get yourself to a point emotionally, spiritually, financially, socially, etc where you feel like an adult who has a whole entire life going for yourself. If you're not there yet, you're not ready for an age gap relationship, or even just a romantic relationship in general.
i'm so glad that the couple from the puppet story found eachother cuz oh my god if they were just out in the wild disney adulting it up on dating apps i'd never know peace
"He was pretty weird", "He didn't seem psycho", Everyone on Reddit warned her about him being a weirdo and she still went on the 4th date. This woman is beyond delusional, gullible and stupid. He could easily have wanted to kill her because he belongs to him not her, Like a Stan level obsession.
About the story with the 24 "father" of the 35 year old: can we just acknowledge and show respect to the sister for just needing a stare to stop the whole thing?
I mean... he was bad at dealing with women his own age....

See, they want a response, a reaction to inform them that they're important/validated and a vocal response does just that. Last story felt very cultish in the language the husband and brother in law were using. Did anyone else notice this? "Some never come back", "surender mind body and soul", "or be destroyed"?
my thoughts exactly!!! the language makes it sound like it's clearly a cult, I don't know how so many people missed that
Also answering almost every question with the same nonsensical answer
Yup, thought the same when i first read it!
YES. I thought that was really, really weird. It made me wonder what the BIL and the husband had been doing together for the last three years, and with whom.
Ironically enough, it reminded me of Andrew Tate/manosohere type crap.

The words "dating" & "adopted" shouldn't be in the same sentence and about one person
Honestly though would make a great plot for a movie lol
righttt. she's already treating him like the youngest. she's having her kids give him what he wants like she's spoiling him
RIGTH
The woman in the first story has no survival instinct. “He seems harmless” GIRL HE STALKED YOU SO HE COULD GET INFO ABOUT HIS IDOL
Yeah if you need to have a difficult conversation with someone who might be a stalker, don't get drinks first!!
I don’t like people blaming her too much cause some men are VERY good at hiding their flaws. This narrative of women needing to be more alert and careful is so over. Educate boys. Period
EDIT : my comment seems to create lot of debate lmao, so here are my other takes on the matter :
- some of you are quick to judge, and I’m 100% you can end in such situation. it can happen to anyone. Picture this, you’re dating someone : it means you’re allowing yourself to be vulnerable (to some extent) with them, socializing romantically, no one is alert 24/7 in this context. I understand her lack of awareness cause she wasn’t prepared for this level of scheming. I know it’s hard to defend her lol, but I know why I do
-people saying she should have LefT immiDiatELy say this because they have the comfort to hear about the story not living it. Ahah 😹
@@ahlrequin we should definitely socialize men to be better people but she also needs to use her common sense lmao

Yup, the mom and the 24 year old as well. I feel sorry for the children, they have to deal with all this crazy 💩
If this episode has taught me anything, it's that... What happens on the gaycation, stays on the gaycation. That's the beauty of the gaycation!

The lucid dreamer kinda ticked me off when he said i WASNT able to stop. He was and is capable of stopping it since he can control his dreams he just didnt WANT to stop.
On the last story it sounds to me that the husband and brother in law might secretly be in love with each other and this is their way of having time together
They also *literally said* they use the lucid dreaming to wake themselves up from nightmares... Bro could stop whenever
That dude is a prime example of what Shayne brings up sometimes. These OPs are presumably trying to present the version of their story that paints them in the best light, but they _still_ say things like that and wonder why the consensus is "YTA"
It's similar to when someone physically cheats in real life and when they get caught says they couldn't help themselves/they couldn't stop etc.
The lucid dreaming is exactly the same as if he was spending hours stalking her social media.
He was being unfaithfull emotionally to his wife.
Also the last one makes me think he has fallen for the bil and is in denial.
I agree with both statements. The last story definitely gives that vibe

I was going to comment that. He is the one who involved his parents not her
did you say devils tango ironically or are you a redditor who cant type sex? 😂
i understand why she didnt tell the mom directly though because when she told her sister-in-law she didnt believe it because its frankly unbelievable and outlandish. and i imagine her husband was so brainwashed that she knew he would just admit it because of all those phrases he kept repeating to justify it
1:31:00 let’s not forget the husband told his parents about the “pass” he gave OP to make her look bad. Mil called HER screaming calling her names, op didn’t volunteer it for no reason
I think the guys talking about being gay like it’s a goofy little phase or otherwise being “hypnotized” into it is some serious homophobia in itself
Im positive he will end up hurting her as well because she isn't what he thinks she is
The memory of what never was😊
EXACTLY that was my first thought when he said he had feelings 🙄 bro you don’t even fucking know her 🤦🏽♀️
If it helps he nuked his entire account, yeah he didn't get the reaction he expected especially when started showing he clearly never loved his wife.
That's what this was.
this part
I think they thought that she called his parents instead of the other way around
i feel the same way. she didn't "out" him--she had to defend herself from slander by speaking the truth! and i'm supposed to be mad about that?? 🙄
As a straight man who has never once thought of being with another man this idea of a gaycation intrigues me… I wonder if my husband will allow it 🤔

reminds me of a tumblr post I think that was a guy that sat his boyfriend down all tearful and "came out of the closet" to him like babe I think I might be gay and his boyfriend was like no shit !
RIGHT !!!
I love Chanse's rant about how being gay isn't just about sex. I'm bi and have only ever been in hetero relationships, but that doesn't make me any less bi. And I love both his and Tommy's chaos energy in this
Uh yeah
I mean sure is a nice sentiment but it doesn't really make sense with the story (the gaycation is definetely about sex) and is kinda rich coming from the most stereotypical gay man who has in fact slept with a lot of people, as he himself has claimed multiple times
And back to the story, if its not about having sex with men, he can be gay at home with this wife and kids.

Agreed. She just told the mom to ask about the gaycation. If it was really as innocent as he kept insisting it was, he wouldn’t have tried to hide it.

Yeah, they acted like they were going on a fucking safari, it made my skin crawl, but was also oblivious to a point of hilarity.

I think the biggest deal breaker on the ice-cream story should be that his first instinct was to try to gaslight her to such an extreme, and frankly insulting, level; that in his mind it was possible he could convince her none of that just happened.
like the biggest problem in the story is him completely shutting her out and refusing to communicate
I'm actually worried that he has a health problem if his personality just changed 180° like that. like a brain tumor or something? I think people with brain damage will also change their explanations repeatedly because they themselves can't make sense of their actions
Edit: ok I was wrong, commented before the end, but still that's where my thoughts went because of how unhinged his behaviour was

As a bi guy, the last story is taking me out me through sheer bafflement and rage, and Shayne isn’t even done reading it…
Him getting defensive at the question made me mad too. Bi people always get dismissed, but bi men definitely have it worse or dismissed as "oh you're gay." It's so insulting. Bi men are normal.
But, that's the beauty of the gaycation.
As a fellow bi (woman tho) I’m hella upset too. Like why is being bisexual so baffling even to people who could be bi?? So annoying! He’s not going about it correctly but there’s nothing wrong with being bi

It was a little funny at first, but after saying those phrases 5x times it was too much
*Flashbacks to “The tip of the iceberg”*
It reminded me of the story of the guy who said he cheated because of the altitude
But that's the beauty of the gaycation tho!
It was SO SWEET. OP needs a puppet version of herself to sit next to Big John.

i love how Chanse and Tommy confidently said the puppet story was a 10 on the wild scale before hearing it when it actually turned out to be not only the most tame story out of all of these, but so sweet and wholesome that they both almost cried
YES

Yes to animal/pet focus, but maybe in a positive way. I, personally, don't need to hear about animal abuse and mistreatment by my comfort show

That's sweet ❤️
@anewhero1216 incredibly funny though, improv material shit
right???? in the case of my mother's wife (who, btw, is only a couple years younger than my mum, so, nothing weird there like with that kid), though she never asked me to or even implied she *wants* to be called that, i do *sometimes* refer to her as my "bonus mum", but like, 90% of the time, i call everyone (her, my dad, my mum, my sister, my grandparents, etc.) just... by their first names, both when talking *to* and *about* them (provided the people i'm talking to KNOW that those are the names of my family members, and that that's whom i'm talking about lol)
like, in my perspective, all these terms denoting relation, are not "status symbol" terms once you (the "child") are an adult, it's just either a continuation of what you were used to in your childhood (which for me, i stopped calling my parents "mum" and "dad" surprisingly early), or a general term of 3rd person reference, to note you're talking about who birthed and/or raised you. if anything, i think there's more respect and connection when using first names, because it shows there's no barrier and you are in some capacity equals who can trust each other!
anyway, all this to say, i'm 24 myself and i could not IMAGINE someone unironically wanting, asking, or expecting that shit lmaooo then again, i wouldn't be supportive of my parents dating someone my age 😬😬 luckily, i know they have more self* respect than that, and would never...

She also just said "ask him about Gaycation", and nothing else letting her husband explain, so I'm 100% with you on this one. Also, they're in a cult.
Agreed. Plus she could use their support as their son is acting bizarre.
@@doceanblueI was starting to wonder since they say the same phrases and the “magical thinking”
“You do it when you’re there, but when you get back, it doesn’t count.” The delusion is so real…

ughhh as a metalhead it’s really hard not knowing who the first story’s ex is. in metal, the popular artists don’t really come and go like in other music genres, similar to classical music, they just accumulate. it’s not too hard to group them but it’s just the fact that so many bands have so many people. it’s driving me crazyyy

This I need to know
1:31:56 I think, to be clear, the homophobia is actually coming from and rooted in the husband who wants to go experience the gaycation in Ibiza.

MY THOUGHT!! I’m glad y’all are matching each other’s freak because y’all would scare me off so quickly😭😭😭
Yeah im very glad they took each other off the market
27:25 the buckling in bit 🤣🤣🤣
3:27 if he was obsessed with the band then he def knew that was her ex and is dating her for that reason if it's not that ill be shocked tbh
OP needs survival instincts for sure 😭 she needs to be a little less forgiving and a bit more paranoid
Yesssss of course he knew it was her!!! Creepy!
Omg girl you’re right.
Came here to say this exactly
