Dorohedoro is my favorite manga and I need the anime back asap, but man I just can't help but feel for the people in charge of adapting the rest of the series when it eventually happens. You'd think season 1 was insane but that's nothing to the clusterfuck that comes after that. Having to successfully animate some of those later moments sounds like a massive undertaking
When it comes to Dorohedoro's world, I loved how the power system was flipped upside down. Abilities that look downright insane are the ones that have the poorest utilization, never really getting their time to shine or achieve underwhelming results while abilities that look very weak and useless are the most brutal and insane ones possible to combat.
MAPPA/netflix please, i can read the manga as many times as i want, but the anime is what got me into the series, the music, the colors and being able to watch it with friends, i NEED MORE, WE need more.
YEEEESSSS!!!!! My boy he done it!!! Please more dorohedoro content! This manga rocked and I’m praying night and day for season 2 of the anime! There’s so much wacky fun stuff to love about this series.
I'm glad that Dorohedoro is finally getting the recognition it deserves, it has been my favorite manga for 20 years now, ever since I first read the scanlated first chapter by Omanga
this makes me want to combine aspects of jojo, one piece and cyberpunk with this show as well been thinking of making a really wild dark fantasy type world
I highly recommend Q Hayashida's new Manga Dai Dark, it's a Sci-fi Space Fantasy with amazing characters and a sense of humor that just resonates with me.
I'm glad you read Dorohedoro! I look forward to any future content you make about it. 🙏 I'd recommend the manga from the same creator Hayashida Q as well, Dai Dark. It's a very fun series so far. 👀
Bro this is so well put together!! You put so much thought into dissecting the world building of Dorohedoro that I didn't even think that the Hole may not always have been so shitty, that they were able to pull off massive infrastructure even with the threat of Sorcerers and inner city violence going around. It deserves all the praise but personally I like that it isn't really popular, suits its underground vibe B] But Netflix you goooootta follow up at least
Q.Hayashida is such a freaking genius manga writer and you can clearly see she was having the time of her life making Dorohedoro. We don't get to see artists of her caliber being allowed to have as much creative freedom to do whatever they want very often We get classic style zombies, Demons, masked maniacs who can use magic, buff ladies who'll beat the shit out of anyone, crime gangs, body horror, lots of gore, some of the coolest character designs I've ever seen, and all sorts of cool shit presented in a very Punk Rock, Grungy aesthetic. I feel like this fucking manga was made for me dude, seriously. My favorite manga ever made, it's like mixing Berserk, Jojo and Akira, but honestly, It's similarities with these other works are only surface level cause Dorohedoro is one of the most original and unique stories I've ever read. #DorohedoroSeason2 when? 😢
Man, this series is an outstanding gem. I was more than happy when i've heard the adaptation was coming and although it wasn't as good as it's manga counterpart, I consider it amazing, as the seiyuus, animation and overall vibe of Dorohedoro were all present there. That being said, Dorohedoro is like an 11/10 for me and I only give such high mark to series that in some way change/shape me as a human being or change my view on the art of creating something. That's Dorohedoro. Truthfully, the best stuff in Dorohedoro would only start in S2, when Mappa finally looks back at their catalogue. One of the most terrifying villain introduction I've seen would be there. Something akin to when a main villain in Jojo drops in with his new mind-breaking power and terrible things start happening one after another and you're panicking like the protagonists, cuz you have no idea WHY what is happening IS happening. Also - Dorohedoro serves me one of the best, most convoluted and still making sense all the way through mysteries in manga. I recommend you reading it, folks - if you weren't already hooked on Kaiman's myster, it's gonna get even crazier.
I would LOVE to see more Dorohedoro videos here. I think simple, but good videos that I wouldn't mind seeing are "All Spells or All Knifes explained." This video was perfect at explaining things to a better understnading without spoiling too much. And I would know cause I've been reading the manga for some time now. And every time I finish a volume I think to myself: "Yep. I still dont get it." I just started Vol. 17 and it's getting pretty good now.
I may not have totally loved the manga's ending, but Dorohedoro still stands as one of the best series I've ever read! I hope we eventually get a S2 because the anime was also very epic. Great video :>
I'm glad a youtuber I enjoy has finally covered my all time favorite manga. It would really be a disservice to describe it as that though, a manga I mean. It's an experience, it simply exists outside of the medium as this strange, fantastical event that is both equally fascinating to observe and read. I have for many years now simply wished to create something so wondrous, so delightfully unique, so real as Q Hayashida's magnum opus, a unique blend of comedy, drama, heart, and action that touched my heart over a decade ago. I would go so far as to say that it is simply my all time favorite media property, I think there is just simply nothing like it. It stands so far apart from everything else that it's just absurd. Absurd is just the beginning though. Your focus on the setting is fantastic, I really think that the setting more than ANYONE or ANYTHING, is main character. Sure, Kaiman and Nikaido live in the Hole, and sure En and his goons fuck around in the Sorcerer's Realm, but they're just these tiny ants crawling along the sprawling leviathan, this living and breathing creature that is the world of Dorohedoro. It's disgusting, it's charming, it's everything I've ever wanted to experience from the medium of literature. It's my forever favorite, and I love this video. Thank you.
The manga is insane and I might read it again in the future, it's just a bit too long but it's just an awesome world and ideas, something that I never imagined a female mangaka would do with such a greedy and gory theme and world, truly an amazing story that needs to be known for more people.
It’s my favorite manga series. After watching the anime I finished the manga and it was a ride. If I could erase my memory to reread it with fresh eyes I would
I love this video so much, thank you. I would be interested if there are some connections to real life rituals and dorohedoro rituals. Also if there is any symbolism behind the masks of sorcerers.
Holy Heck, the manga is really wild...but it has that Dark Humor I like plus the odd Lore and how insane it is...I really lucked out finding the manga when I was just checking a few...also the thing about the guy inside Caiman really gave the whole series a mystery to solve... Also I didn't expect it would be animated...still love it though.
I'm not sure if it's enough to make a video on, but I think that the "villains" of the series and their portrayal are both underappreciated (weird, huh? since most of the people praise the series for it - well, not enough xD). I mean here En with his whole entourage, like Shin, Noi, Fujita, Ebisu and even Chota. I find them all very endearing, even though in different series they would probably be people we really want to lose. Aside from that, maybe further down the road - some extensive deep dive into AI Coleman's mystery. One of the best enigmas in my manga experience - would be great to bring this greatness to the public
Dorohedoro is my favorite manga of all time. The art is grungy and sketchy, the world is rich, and the characters are diverse and vibrant. I especially love the respect given to the female characters like noi and nikaido. Even when they're nude or not wearing much, it doesn't feel lecherous or voyeuristic, they feel comfortable and confident in their bodies. Between this, fma, and beastars, I'm starting to think women write shonen the best
The sorcerers world is defined by a neverending pursuit of power. En effectively rules the sorcerer’s world, or at least what we see of it, partially by having a good relationship with Chidaruma, but mostly by his ability to turn anything he doesn’t like into mushrooms. Sorcerers constantly try to assassinate and deflect assassinations from other upstarts, to show piety and give tribute to Devils in hope to gain boons (or at least not to be pranked by the sadistic devils). En reacts to discovering smoke sellers by immediately turning them into mushrooms. He works pretty much like a mob boss, everyone has to work to appease him and earn his favor/assassinate him to get access to the wealth and capable wizards he keeps close to himself. A collection he works to expand, murdering the previous owner of Kikurage and holding the beast at great value for its abilities
Xforts, thank you for talking about this incredible piece of art. I appreciate it. Dorohedoro is one of my all time favorite manga. ☺️😊😄😃🤩😍 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I heard about from TH-cam and started watching it on Netflix and few years ago. It’s dark, violent, and completely off the walls but it’s a great ride. After I watched the anime I went and read the manga which I’m hoping gets adapted one day. It’s a very unique manga that deserves recognition

I fuking love Dorohedoro, i like to think Chainsaw Man took inspiration from it as Ive seen too many similarites between the two series and i personally love how Noi and Shin fashion similar suits and sneakers to devil hunters in CSM
I recently cosplayed shin using pieces from my Denji costume, which goes to show how similar the designs of the two are. Well dressed boys with scruffy blond hair and red and white sneakers that came from poverty and now work as assassins. (Not a dig against csm, they are clearly different characters at their core but the similarities are pretty apparent
I love that the mystery of Caiman's identity is so stupidly weird and complex that I couldn't spoil it for anyone even if I wanted to.
I once spent 15 minutes explaining Caiman to someone, and it was the most fun I've had talking about a manga.
"Dorohedero is my favorite manga"
"Oh cool whats the plot"
"Literally no idea"
Just start telling people mud head sludge. It’ll click once they finish it.
I want to thank Netflix for taking so long to green light season 2 pushing me to read the manga. Easily one of my top 5 favorites
It's my personal top 1, Hayashida's work has been a heavy influence in my own artwork
Yee
Same. Shame they aren’t continuing the show cuz the manga is nuts
wait it's not cancelled?
Saaaaaame. 😅
SEASON TWO HAS BEEN APPROVED AND ANNOUNCED LET'S GO BOYS
Oh man I remember binging this in 2020 and it was such a fever dream. Incredible series and the paneling is just chef's kiss
I watched this on a gloomy day back in 2020, it was quite the vibe

The anime OST samples it sometimes
When I started watching I wasn't sure what to think of their use of cg but it grew on me.
