Love your videos and I'm using them as a reference as I inherited my grandfather 91 big bear. As I was working on the rear break I replaced the parking brake cable and noticed there was another cable that was not connected to anything that went from the handle bars to the pedal called select lever control cable and I can't figure out what it connects to at the front of the bike. Have you run into this on your big bear?
I don't remember seeing this on mine however, I think it is either a shift interlock(cannot shift without brakes) or holding the hand brake allows you to start in gear. I'll take another look at mine to see if I am right... lol
Aloha, thank you for videos. You are very informational. I have a 87 big bear. All the parts for the front axle say 89-97. All sites say my axle doesn’t exist? Any ideas. Thank you so much.cant find any information on. 87 axle.
Thank you for watching. As far as I know, a 1989 axle will fit a 1987. There were very few changes done in those years. I am lucky since mine are still original.
I just bought my son a Yamaha 350 big bear one problem I have when he ride for like an hour the front two wheels lock it if we put it in reverse drive back a little bit then put it back in drive it might go can you please tell me what that is
That's a very odd issue. It can be many different things. I will list what I think it might be: Front brakes binding up Front wheel bearings Front drive shaft U-joints Front Diff If this model is full-time 4x4, don't forget the rear brakes and rear diff. I hope this helps! Also, please reply once you find the issue. This will help everyone 🙏
If you are purchasing a new filter, it's usually done at the factory. If you are cleaning your old one, it needs to be re-oiled after it has dried naturally. The oil is sticky and fills the pores of the filter which captures all the dirt and nastiness from entering the engine
Thank God for your videos. They really are a big help. Is there any way I could get a link to that brake cable thing to free up the cable?

@@thehonestmechanic thank you
May I ask why the filter needs to be pre oiled?
