th-cam.com/video/I5-GjmXbEU4/w-d-xo.html Look at the top right corner of the minimap, at orange's (freedom) base. You see incoming t3 artillery fire from Robort heading to said base. The next second you see arty shell disappearing alongside many of orange's buildings (shell hits target). A half second after that you get the kill notification and start to see the thermonuclear blast.
I have not seen the whole cast yet, only the very start about the FAF-trouble. Weird business. My initial thought was something like "hey, FAF should be happy to have you promoting their service" and "Wait, isn't FAF a community driven (fan) service of somebody else's property, and aren't you part of said community?". Do not get me wrong, I respect greatly the spectacular job FAF has done, and keep doing - but this rights guarding / community exclusion seems very weird indeed. But then I started thinking. The trouble was about the channel itself - a FAF logo in the channel? Such a peculiar thing, as FAF should be happy for basically anybody to brandish their logo somewhere/anywhere? Then I got it, it is not purely about the logo, is it? It is about the name "FAF casting division" - it could be perceived as their channel based on that name, especially when combined with the FAF-logo? To be clear I never got that perception. Wait a moment what is "their" channel anyways? Gyle, with the FAF Cast logo / intro? No. I just searched for it in YT. FAF has their own channel "Forged Alliance Forever" with the FAF-logo as main icon. Hmm, this channel is what they are protecting? Ok, I have only just skimmed through the content, and whilst I applaud the work done / tournament coverage / tutorials and such, I have to say that it all seems like a far cry from the work of Gyle, Willow and you. Hmm, I should really check it out a bit more before passing judgement. What says the view stats about the channels? Gyle's channel: Joined Sep 13, 2006 16,395,867 views Willow's: Joined Oct 1, 2018 760,666 views Forged Alliance Forever: Joined Jul 28, 2015 118,019 views FAF casting division: Joined Jan 29, 2023 50,127 views I suspect the "FAF casting division" to soon outperfom the "Forged Alliance Forever" channel in views, as "Forged Alliance Forever" has mostly accrued their views in around 1-2 years, whilst the "FAF casting division" has only been around for some months. That is a strong testimony for the quality of your work, btw. Keep it up please! But all the above said, I really would like to suggest some better branding for yourself. I watch your content because of you, not because I like playing FAF and think that your channel is the "official" one. Promote yourself as the content creator, instead of the generic "faf casting division". All casters do this kind of branding. Some more openly like Gyle with "Gyle here" along a myriad other catch phrases and his floating head in some videos. Other do it with a cool alias and alias name, like Willow does (along his catch phrases like "Iiiiiiit's a DISAAASTER!!!"). I am not saying that you need to copy others, or that you need to use catch phrases or use an alias. All I am really saying is, that be proud of your work and workmanship. You are an excellent content creator - not a generic division. And as as a content creator, please keep using the FAF logo in the intro transition (hopefully with the permission of FAF). It looks cool and it promotes FAF. But having FAF name or logo in the channel name / icon, is probably not the best idea. You are getting there with the intro BTW. I commented earlier about the thumbnails / first picture. They are good. And the FAF transition is cool, alongside the music / western sound. I never was a fan of the applaud sfx, though. The only thing that in my opinion still "needs" fixing is the intro text formatting. Generally mixing too many fonts are not a good idea and looks bad. I would have the lower date/time font to be the same as either of the other (above) fonts. And if I'd use a third font, then I would avoid anything looking cartoonish (a western touch gone wrong?). My suggestion would be a more army like stencil / Supreme commander like font for the title, and the current (very readable) middle font for the rest. I would probably ditch the backgrounds too, or at least use the same background colour for the top/bottom (dark grey perhaps). I would remove completely the background from the player names and perhaps use something like red and respectively blue font/team colours, with black outlines.
Hey man, those are some really nice tips and helpful insights. A long comment deserves a longish answer. First, if you want, do shoot us an email over - I'd be more than happy to discuss ideas, and I'm ALWAYS looking to improve, and 90% of that is based on what subscribers say. Regarding the various specifics you put here, too many to address in 1, but I'm gonna open up a little. As you probably already know, there's a very specific "formula" that does well on TH-cam. I have a channel where I tried a little too hard to go for the "formula" at the expense of "me". Sure enough, the channel grew quickly (much quicker than this) but it turned the thing I loved doing into a chore. I still loved the game and all, but the editing man.... (keep dem scenes changing!) So I done away with editing altogether. I love forged alliance, and had no idea I'd actually enjoy casting on games, and even if I only got a couple of people who came around on the regular, I'd still enjoy the casting. So then comes the setup. This has been very much a little bit here, a little bit there. The goal has always been to help set the stage in a way that is both recognisable (a brand if u will) and setup the infos on the game in 1. Gives me time to say hello and unload my silly joke, if I can think of one. So could I tidy all that up a bit? Use 1 Font - sure, maybe something we can look at, if you fancy getting in touch. Lastly, the channel name - your compliments and time you've spent trying to justify why, mean a lot. You've given me a lot to ponder on, and please do email. Thanks
@@fafcast Hah. I'd say that (too) long comments warrants short replies (if replies at all), so that the the replyee would not get caught spending too much time on less important things (than the product/service/cast itself). But I do appreciate the response nevertheless, thank you kindly. Also, do not stress about it - you are doing good work as it is. I am merely a semi-noobish* faf player, that have watched far to many faf-casts to admit. *This is the funny thing about Supreme Commander / FAF. I would not consider myself noob or noobish in about any other game (not reaction related) with several hundreds of hours played, sevelar hundreds of watched casts and with several hundreds of online matches played... In any other game I would consider myself at least proficient - however APM depleted I might be. But not in FAF, that is. What comes to using me as for ideas? I have no real experience with casting / video editing / youtube algorithms, so take anything I suggest with a grain (or two) of salt. I am opinonated. I have ideas and suggestions. But that is what they are: ideas and suggestions. You use what you find useful (if any) and remember to have fun. Fun is the key word here, as I have not seen any monetized videos out from you. Sure, you might only be waiting to get more popularity / subs, before doing so. But I rather suspect that this is more about you just sharing what you are passionate about. You are essentially just having fun, and spreading that fun around - not making a profit (yet at least). Therefore do not feel one iota of obligation to fulfil my or anybody else's suggestions / corrections / whatever. But sure, I will send you an email soonish. If nothing else, so that you can privately ask me to shove my suggestions up somewhere (where the sun does not shine). :)
I think the reason the FAF devs are more concerned about their logo use is because, as I understand it, there is a Russian copycat server now that's using the faf code and logo. The mod itself is open source but the name and logos are not. Supcom is very popular in Russia, probably the largest single country player base. After the war started steam was blocked in Russia so the game can no longer be purchased or played legally. FAF requires steam or GOG accounts to play - the copy cat server removed this requirement, and support for the war is obviously (and correctly) ban in the faf forums, discord and game chat.
So glad someone cast this game, it was one of the best I've played in a while
very good cast please continue
Many thanks for your kind words, I will continue
Keep up the great FAF casts man
Thank you! I makes me happy to learn that you also enjoy them.

Yea I got killed by the T3 arty. Didn’t even know they had Arty 😂
One on't cross beams gone owt askew on treadle.
You're either having a laugh, or live next door. Can't tell!
Sounds like classic South Yorkshire to me
Only @gylecast is the official FAF channel.🤣🤭
The bright white border was the worst one... though it does match with the equally horrible bright white map.
Just going to dim my screen.
So, really, this is a FFAFF channel ("For FAF Fans")?!
Yep! FFAFF I like it!

Well, that was some wall of text... Sorry.
Aand, you then started to comment the issue some more after the intro, making my rant seem a bit silly now. Oh, well.
