    Fave member of Parliament Funkadelic! Though the Brides of Funkenstein aren't far behind :) Both Parliament & Bootsy have FONKY new albums out as of 2018.

    If Jimi Hendrix had not died, then Bootsy would have been the perfect guy to have helped propel Jimi through the 70s being true to his own style while moving away from The Experience, and would have complimented what Jimi began developing with Buddy Miles, in that a heavy funk basis was beginning to take root as Buddy and Jimi were very inspired by the black power movement. just imagine how perfect Bootsys solidness yet fluidity would have suited Hendrixparlirment/funkadelic would have been on a total "back-footer" if Jiki had not died and teamed up with Jimi, as in nature Jimi was a funk merchant in a different vein from James Brown, and had that funk style ahead of the times, and already had tunes like "crosstown traffic", and "long hot summer" under his belt which were agrueably prototype psychedelic funk (which was big inspiration George Clintons style).

    Larry Graham is very important in the evolution of Funk bass as well. Indeed, much of what Bootsy plays relies on the slap bass cornerstone that Graham pioneered. Great overview of a wonderful career though.

      Paul Baran And then too, there is the brilliant fingerwork of bassmaster Bernard Edwards, maybe even Mark Adams also.

      @BigfootBionic 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Paul Baran Yes true & let's not forget about (The Brother's Johnson)Louis Johnson, one of the 'baddest' pioneers of slap bass ...although Bootsy is my favorite.

      Larry Graham really brought out the thumbing bass. At first, people were going crazy trying to figure out how he produced that sound. After many years of talking to bassists and other musicians, a lot of THEM say the thumbing bass was invented by a famous jazz cat.....Rufus Reed. But the jazz community didn't like it, so most people wouldn't thumb the bass.

    If this was a biography of Bootsy Collins, why would you include a Jimi Hendrix song and "Same Beat" from the mid 1970s, long after Bootsy had left James Brown?

    LOL are you SERIOUS? wow... did you not know that Bootsy is a HUGE fan of Jimi? Yeah that's one of his inspirations............. SOOOOOOOOO ..........and the song SAME BEAT is by the JB'S which Bootsy was a part of SOOOOOO again .... why don't you do your research before bashing someone for no reason. I'm really tired of negative people like you on TH-cam who have nothing better to do with their lives than bash, bash, bash!! And even if I was wrong about something, who cares, no one is perfect

    • @Camilocarrasco
      @Camilocarrasco 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Are you calling me stupid and you can't iven distinguish an irony? Of course it's a contradiction! Bootsy is one of my all time favorite bass players, but that thing with the boots is pretty dumb, to say the least. Anyhow, that doesn''t iven bother me, he's great, nothing can bring down the image i have of him. Please think a little before insulting someone.
      And what does being white has anything to do with anything? Besides, for what I see on your picture, you're just as white as me. The only difference is that im latino, I speak other lenguages and I don't follow racial stereotypes.
      Now who's dumb here?

    • @RandomActs0fKrod
      @RandomActs0fKrod  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Camilo Carrasco
      LoL as i said. let me reiterate: you are STUPID. :-D you don't even know how to use the word "irony" in a proper sentence context let alone do u even know what the true definition is !!! LMAO . it is definitely not "ironic" that u think a commercial is "dumb" but he is still one of your favorites. u seem like a stick in the mud, bump on the log to me. liven up a little whitey ford. btw doesn't matter what you are. cuzz u still actin like a little dorky white boy. there are black men who act white as well. skin color don't mean shit. and yeah u can pick on the way i talk cuzz i know it's not proper but i enjoy it u stupid funky freak u..LOLOLOL

    • @Camilocarrasco
      @Camilocarrasco 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      "Color doesn't matter", yet you speak of black and white so easily...
      I think this conversation will get us nowhere, im not used to deal with such idiotic (and racist) people as you.
      Great video tough, it's shame that the one who uploaded it (and probably made it as well) is you.
      And yes, you are a racist, racial stereotypes are fixated in your head. Black, white, it all mean the same to me, but not to you for what I read, you poor ignorant and despicable thing...
