Jake is even more menacing now with that gravelly voice. But yeah, brilliant psychology. He knew how to intimidate so quietly.

I remember that in the Attitude era The Rock took too many loses and he never lose any credibility because he was insanely charismatic in the mic. He was insanely balanced because he could bury anyone on the mic and putting them over in the ring.
And that used to tick me off, I used were bosses trying to make him fail? Til this day, I still haven't seen a top guy like the Rock take as many Ls as he did. Maybe Brock now.
@@m2k33311 right? He was the most selfless Megastar in a selfish business, but often times he'd tend to go overboard with the selflessness and it irritated me he'd look way too soft. It's why I can't agree that he and Austin had the greatest rivalry because Austin was always booked to be better than him and go over on him each time and he just let it happen

Nope, Cena matched him blow for blow and even made the rock stagger. The only 3 people I seen match the rock were Cena, Jericho, and Taker.

Yeah I seen him cut a promo in person it was a normal promo but it still felt special.

Ehh... Wyatt talks smoothly, but most of the time it's a word salad that has nothing memorable in it. He's got a bit better over time, but he still has the problem where he rambles a lot when getting to the point would be more effective. There are a *lot* of workers I'd take on the mic over Wyatt until he fixes that: including every single person on this list and all the honourable mentions.

I’m surprised stone cold number 7 his promos were so iconic and he even used the rocks catchphrases against him when he drove the beer truck in, when he talked about room 3:16 in smackdown hotel

But you know he was every bit as good on the mic doing promos or or any talking at all as some of the best out there.
Love The Rock and CM Punk but The Rock admits CM Punk’s is on another level in their feud, not directly but clear acknowledgment. No shame in saying both were a cut above on the mike! Honourable mention for MJF is missing!! But I think he will be on in the top 3 of all time in a decade

Man Vince was actually really good. He would do absolutely anything for that company around that and the ruthless aggression era. Some of the things he did while being a billionaire is absolutely nuts
Paul Heyman to me is the greatest ever on the mic! Not only does he have the delivery but he also has reasonable content and can sell even the worse matches to a live crowd.
Some of what the Rock said only worked cuz it was him but in terms of actual content he doesn't come anywhere close to Heyman!
He had one of the greatest shoot promos ever during the invasion angle

Much respect for Jake Roberts.
Rock, Austin and Flair were the best three talkers in wrestling history.
Rock had incredible crowd control. There’s one promo I believe from ‘99 where shuts up a cheering stadium by putting his hand up.
Nobody gets into the role like Vince McMahon himself
The Rock was so good that he buried so much stars! Ain't even his fault. He's that amazing you can't do anything but to cheer him.
He did. But he was also probably the best ever at selling other wrestlers promo's
Stonecold should definitely be in the 5th spot in the top 5.

I was rolling my eyes when you got to #1 bc I was like that’s so predictable and then I watched the highlights and I was like RESPECT. I forgot how great the great one was. His mic skills were untouchable.
Piper was the greatest. No script, so witty, nobody could out talk him. Never needed one liners or catch phrases and everything was believable. Nobody could garner the heat he did.. Jericho just I could never truly believe him

It's hard to argue against The Rock because he was such a natural on the mic. It seemed like he just improvised every moment on the mic without overthinking it, but I would have Stone Cold at 1A because he was easily the most believable character on the mic by far as everything he said felt like it was coming straight from the heart even with it being scripted.
Yeah Stone Cold could cut a whole show Raw promo and still have the fans pumped up. The rock wasn’t as good as Austin period...tho he is when it comes to making movies. The rock relied a little too much on those catchphrases, and I’ve seen him legit lost for words in multiple promos and times when he didn’t know he was gonna talk.
Those guys only walked in the shadow of arn anderson. And Tully and jj dillion. You felt something when they did a promo. And Jim Cornette was doing his promos wo breathing you had to keep up

The Rock was just flawless on the mic. He delivered his lines like a stand up comic and the content was just as funny. His innate ability to reinvent himself at will will never be matched. Just an utter legend.
Mick Foley should have made top ten and i cant believe Angle didnt even get a mention.
Rock's best promo is definitely the one he did on Billy Gun back in 1999.
Sent him straight to the mid card, from whence he was never seen again.

Scott Steiner and Iron Sheik deserve an honorable mention, even though Sheik was most entertaining after his retirement. Steiner gets a reaction no matter what he says

I think because Scott Steiner's best mic moments were away from the WWE is why he didn't make the list. Otherwise he deserves at least an honorable mention!

10. Good ole Jake. I’ll never forget about that slap. That sinister smile & the way he asked Macho Man to bring her back so he could do it again. That’s just a brilliant way at being awesome playing a role to be hated. As a kid I was ready to jump through the screen. You get older & look back…Jake definitely belongs on the list. I’m not sure if anyone ever thinks much about him. As you mentioned, he didn’t have to get loud or go over the top. Just the tone in which he presented himself in did enough.
9. The “Genetic Jackhammer.” Loved that name. His rivalry with his own family is definitely gold.
8. Punk’s “Pipebomb” will forever be gold. Let alone when he went & bought real names into the rivalry with Paul.
7. Austin? I think he definitely deserves a top five if not top three. Not many people could make the simple word of “What” live for 20yrs. You know you’re good when people in the crowd now chanting it weren’t even conceived.
6. Cena…I think Austin should definitely be higher than John. He’s good, but certainly not the level of Austin. There were times where he could be downright annoying. Austin never left me in a state of “alright you can wrap it up.”
5. Hot Rod! You’re dead on the money when you said that you’d pay to see him get his ass kicked. I liked heel Piper more, but he’s great overall.
4. Paul’s definitely an awesome man cutting promos. I’ve often wondered if Brock would be as over as he is if it weren’t for Paul. He had all the physical talent, but in my opinion he’s still kind of boring whenever he opens his mouth. Thankfully he has Paul. When he slammed Bradshaw, I laughed my tail off.
3. Jerhico…second to only The Rock in my opinion. I loved watching those two go at it. The fued didn’t last as long as I would’ve liked, but what we gained was beautiful.
2. Ric…I love Ric. I like Jerhico a little more, but he’s most certainly a diamond on the mic. He’s still having hard time keeping those alligators down! My fav “Slick Rick” moment will never be anything he said on the mic(which was always good), but it came from a simple moment. I saw him at a house show in either ‘92-‘93 timeframe. The main event was him & Bret. My cousins & I snuck down ringside for their match & in the midst of the boos…you could hear three early teen’s “Woooooooooooooing!!!” while he was chopping Bret in the corner. I looks down at the three of us, gave us a huge smile, a Wooooo, & a big thumbs up.
1. The Rock. I still go back & forth between him & Shawn as my all time overall favorite. He has more charisma than I could ever hope to have. His feuds with Austin are legendary. I’m glad I was alive to witness the two of them rather than just having old clips. Watching them with friends in the dorms with friends my first three years in the military was always a blast. Hell the only thing I went to the dayroom to actually watch was wrestling. The insults & catch phrases are second to none.

Nah man the Miz being honorable mention is a crime, dude is top 5, argue with a wall, he doesn’t have as much accomplishments as the others around him at the top bud god damn does he tell a story every time he got that mic, there’s a reason he is constantly on other talk shows, sports shows, events, movies, etc. because of his mic and speaking ability

Paul Heyman is the best talker in the modern day.
The Rock/Stone Cold can captivate the crowd whether you're watching at home or there live, he sparks the audience to sing along with The Rock or what after every word Stone Cold says.
Ric Flair is the greatest of all time. Period
