Let's be honest. Canucks twitter is way worse. Also, I dunno if you saw the celebration after the Dallas-Edm game 6 game but there are a huge number of Indo-Canadians, particularly Sikhs in Edmonton and has been for a while. Walking around Mill Woods, you could think you were in Surrey.
I heard from several different Edmonton fans that they felt uncomfortable and physically threatened while attending game 1 in Vancouver.. it's not just your Twitter guys.

Obviously, his first love is with the city he played almost all his career in (and retired as), but he doesn't puff out his chest about it. He's also shown a lot of love for the Anaheim Ducks and teammates there. He also gets asked a lot of questions about his time as a Canuck and the success the team had, so does that make him a fanboy to answer those questions? Fan or him or not, objectively, he's very fair with all his commentary and knowledge and assessment covering all teams... he's a true hockey guy and mind, and they found a gem bringing him on the panel. With Garret, not gonna lie... he's biased to the Canucks, but guess what, he works the Canucks regional games for Sportsnet, so what would you expect? It wasn't until the past couple of years when the network gave him and Shorthouse non-Canucks games and series to call (Boston in the playoffs last season, some Winnipeg regular season games this year), and they were applauded for calling them fairly and objectively, and not as Canucks commentators? Look at any colour commentator who works regional games for their local team... they're all biased, otherwise, the fanbase who listens will get him fired for NOT having some bias. But if you actually listen to his commentary, he's actually very fair and doesn't shy away from criticizing the team or players when he sees it. They both get criticized and have non-fans (a lot of Canuck fans don't like Garret) but he doesn't call them or the fanbase of any team, "losers."

We even saw little girls from Surrey saying FUCK McDAVID for the camera's, so I can just imagine......That all said, Luc made his comments, while frustrated, on an OILERS PODCAST....It is how he felt, and as you can imagine, had a lot of regional support. .....just like a Garret Podcast perhaps?...
Regardless, emotions of playoff hockey were high....and STILL are down 2--0.

Honestly, I didn’t mind him during the oilers and Canucks series. I thought he was fair and appeared relatively unbiased. He just cracked under some comments he couldn’t deal with and said some things I’m sure he wished he didn’t. I’m not going to hold it against him as long as it was a one off.

Gadzic is the one who needs to play the role of a professional. If he doesn't understand the garbage going on in social media circles, then it's on him. This is the problem I just don't get. Why commentators, writers and even team owners who pay attention to it like it's a meaningful way of communication or something. Respect the fact that Fried is backing up his teammate, but he's glossing over (likely purposely) the fact that Gazdic called out the TEAM and fanbase....that's a bad look for a national analyst for obvious reason. Luke is young - hopefully he can learn and improve. If not, local broadcast may be a better fit.

I disagree with Elliotte I do not think luke will be a star and still can't see what the brass at Sportsnet seems to see. I think he has nothing smart to say nothing interesting to say and we;ve waited 2 years for that. Luke won't recover in this market it has a LONG memory so I dont see how they make it work nationally
I am a 53 year old Oiler fan. I have had interactions with a lot of fanbases overthe years at playoff time. The Canuck fans are among the worst. When they beat you they act like world beaters,. And when they lose they disappear OR complain about just about everything. Usually that the refs are out to get them. It is not surprising they have burnt their city down twice thus far following a playoff loss.
You had a great season and should be proud of your season. The better team won. Go Oilers.

Well, last time I checked, Gaz hasn't smashed any store windows or burned any police cars. The vocal minority of Canuck heads are an embarrassment to the city, the Canucks organization, hockey in general, and the entire country. I don't mind Eliotte, but I think he's wrong in his interpretation of the Gadzic f up. Gadzic thought he was on an Edmonton podcast and Vancouver fans weren't going to hear his real feelings. It's one thing to go off on the Canucks twitter comments, but to include the club in his rantings is totally unacceptable. HNIC should let him go and maybe he can take over for another homer (Simpson) and just do Oiler's game.

gadzic was a fringe NHLer and personally i had never even heard of the guy. Was he the stick boy or the water boy on the bench. He wasnt much of a player because ive watched the oilers for years.
