Hello Dr Locke, thank you for this video & tutorial.
    I have combo/oily skin and I've just turned 61.
Ive recently noticed that all of my liquid foundations (& it CC creams) look heavy and horrible on me. They make me look 100 y/o. 😱
Now I'm using Australian Gold 50spf sunscreen and L'Oreal true match Nude hyaluronic tinted serum. It's perfection 🥰 👌

One of your best videos to date. At pushing the door on age 62, I’m taking way too long to do my make up so I’m 100% guilty of using too much. After I’m done,I look in the mirror and tell myself I looked better without it. I wish I could feel confident with less, and after this video, I will attempt to scale down the steps so I can get out the door!!

It definitely looks very skin like. Further, I add the Merit cream blush and it's a winner! You're so right - I have ditched powders a few years ago - I am 65 years young (last week) and powders are not your friend as you get older. Thanks for the product suggestions!

Nice tips. I would like someone one day to actually show how to reapply sunscreen on top of makeup throughout the day. I have not found this easy to do without messing up makeup. I've tried the powder ones too, like colorscience brand. And the powder eventually makes things look cakey. Or some of the spray mist versions now out there, leave a overly shiny finish.

I’d recommend not using bronzer or contour at the temples because it makes that area recede even more. We lose volume there and don’t want to accent that. I agree with you about using less blush. Oh my gosh, SO many influencers I follow go crazy with the blush - I want blush to make someone think ‘oh, her face is nicely accented with makeup’ not ‘wow, look at that blush!’

Natalie Mammitzsch The best eye primer (clean too) I’ve ever used is by Nikol Johnson. She has a channel (& clean cosmetics line) here on TH-cam. What I like about it is 1) a little goes a long way 2) it is tinted which gives a blank canvas to which your shadows colors will be true all day. You will not be disappointed. I hope this helps.

I have very oily skin. I use uoma loose powder. I HIGHLY recommend this. Don't use puff pad. I use a fluffy highlight brush, tap off excess amount for under my eyes to set and blush brush for the T -zone. It's very finely milled and blurs beautifully. I've never seen any powder blend in the face like this one. It's worth the price. It's a must have for summer days . Ps. Elf makes great cheap concealer. Look for the white cap. Their camo concealer is a dupe for tarte. Black cap is stronger ( for face/blemishes) white I reccomentd for eye since it's hydrating. Don't use alot. Thin layer then uoma powder. If your doing eyelid. Do the elf hydrating concealer/ouma powder then makeup like eyeshadow , eyeliner etc. The trick is not caking up concealer. Blend blend blend lightly.

As an older person with dry eye disease, I'm always looking for skincare and makeup products that won't aggravate my diseased eyes. I check the ingredient list of products I'm considering for purchase against an ingredient list that dry eye disease specialists say are a no go, and among those "banned ingredients" is Phenoxyethanol, but it is in almost everything. I hope one day a dry eye specialist, a dermatologist, and a makeup artist will join forces and create content for people like me. Thank you for this otherwise in-depth tutorial.

Tried Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint a couple years ago but it looked too shiny on me. Keeping skincare/spf light under makeup is a great idea but a challenge because I cannot tolerate chemical sunscreens. LRP Anthelios Uvmune 400 50+ fluid comes close but it still irritates my skin. Currently trying Colorescience Tint du Soleil spf 30 and Sunforgettable Flex spf 50 as an all-in-one solution. Colorescience also has a hydrating mineral foundation with spf in a compact that I want to try for applying spf during the day.

I find that a lot of sunscreens mess makeup up, especially the thick mineral ones, they hardpan powders and make your brushes all gross. I find that the light fluid clear ones like the LRP Mune 400 one go really well under makeup, and also a lot of the chemical Korean ones. A lightweight easily absorbed sunscreen is key imo

I am that person who is 55 and has super oily skin. Most of those products do not work for me - the skin serum made me look like a grease monkey, the Merit lasts 5 minutes on my skin. If I don't set my concealer, it will crease. Obviously having skin you are happy with helps a lot - most days I can do a tinted moisturizer, some blush, some mascara, some lip gloss.

I'm 38 and have fine lines and still fighting acne. 😔 I have an oily t-zone so I don't want to look dewy to begin with. I need matte but it does settle in to fine lines. I'm in a no win situation here.

I’m 60, I’d love to wear make up but with my oily skin, it doesn’t last long, and then I wonder why I even bothered. I haven’t tried any liquid products besides foundation, because of my skin. Will you please show some recommendations of products for oily mature skin? Thanks so much for all your videos.

I wonder what dermatologists think about drugstore makeup ? Like the kind you get at Walgreens or Walmart. I also wonder about teen makeup who are prone to acne.

Wanted to love the ILIA serum skin tint but it totally made me break out. It also feels sticky on the skin.

@@catnip4587 Yes, kind of awful smelling. Interestingly though, the second time I tried it I shaked it for quite a while, quite vigorously, and it didn't stink.

The sticky feel is because it’s formulated to go under their makeup line, so it grips on to foundation and whatnot. I also don’t like skin care that feels sticky so thank you for sharing that, so I don’t buy it.

I started using sunscreen 2 years ago. I have sensitive skin so I use a mineral sunscreen- which is always heavier.. blah. Applying mkup atop this creates too many layers for my mature skin. I’m a mkup junkie.. so I have tried lots and lots of variations(sunscreens, foundations , etc). It still ages me 😩.

I’m in the same exact boat. Can’t find a sunscreen that doesn’t irritate my eyes, that isn’t too drying/mattifying or too greasy and sits well under makeup. I just bought a sunscreen sample pack at Sephora to try even more…it’s still a struggle. My main problem in fact.

Great tips except I don't contour because my cheeks, they have thinned out so I don't need to push in the cheeks even more which is what a contour does for me.

Hi Kim I find that the Merit products are less greasy on my mature, normal to oily face. More glowy than shiny. Of course, they may not be for you, but I wanted to share my experience.

I have super oily skin. Anything glowy gets very greasy on me. What’s important is a good setting powder and setting spray. I wear full coverage foundation daily; I don’t look old… it all depends on the products you use and how you apply them.
