Monica! We need plans for the triangular shelf built-in in the background! It's gorgeous!

Love it Monica! The pictures and thumbprint ideas take it to a whole other level.

What's the recommended way to hang the board on the wall once you've finished it?

Just finished ours. We had a lot of fun making it. The kids did some drawings on the back and wrote things about what they love doing so they can read it again when they grow up and get a kick. I wanted to post a picture of the finished product here but there’s no option for pictures. TY for the video it helped a lot! 👍

We have used a simpler growth chart: two yardsticks end to end, with 6" cut off the lower one for that baseboard. The math lesson is built in due to the resulting need to add three feet to each measurement above 36". And a little metrics can be taught, too. Find a couple of meter sticks and mount them alongside the yardsticks. If you buy unfinished yard/meter sticks, you can stain them as in the video (but be aware they may absorb more stain more quickly because they can't be sanded first - so maybe use a lighter shade of stain, or dilute the darker stain before using).

I'm planning on making the same growth chart my husband got the board for me but the very top is the 6 ft so how do I do the extra tick marks above the 6ft mark???

Hi! You'll want to start from the floor instead of the bottom of the board (so the baseboard gives you those extra inches). If you don't have a baseboard, you can raise it higher and measure from the floor to the 6ft mark. If you'd like the board to hit the floor but go higher than 6ft, you should get an 8ft board and trim. I hope that's helpful - Have fun :)
