    I am currently a photographer for an adult soccer league, How can I turn this into shooting for other various sports in the area.

    Awesome vid man. What tips could you give a freelancer to start shooting as a part of an organization like this? With just their desire and passion to do it? How do we get our foot in the door?

      I shoot for an independent (minor) league team. I just started showing up day after day shooting and tagging the team with pics. After about a week, a guy asked me if I wanted to go on the field to shoot. Of couse I did! He said I could learn the rules from the team photographer. When I asked who the guy was, it turned out to be the team owner. That was 2.5 yrs ago and I'm still there. I retired about the same time so it's been a super-fun way to stay busy.

      Please a!so note that it didn't take long before I was out spending big bucks to get things like a new R5 and a RF 400mm f/2.8.

    Excellent video. You use the 300 f2.8. Do you find that it has enough reach? Many prefer the 400mm f2.8 or the 100-400/ rf 100-500 for day game ( zooms)Curious as to what your thoughts are

      I shot a game with the R5 and RF 100-500 and from my position at the far side of the right-field dugout, I shot many of my pitcher shots at 290-300mm and home plate shots were oftentimes at 150-200mm. I feel like 400 is too deep for the infield but probably would be better for close-up second base shots and wider outfield.

    I shoot for an independent league. When are your pics due. You mentioned putting them in a Dropbox in the morning. Does that mean you stay up all night processing them? I ask because that's exactly what I do.

    Do you use digital zoom or teleconverters?

    • @RobGrayPhotography
      @RobGrayPhotography  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm using a 300mm or a 70-200mm without a teleconverter. I do crop, straighten and some other minor adjustments in post production. Check the description and click "SHOW MORE" to see what gear I use.

    Good shots. It’s not a job if you’re doing what you love.

    With the 300 lens how do you get those shots of the Outfielders

    • @RobGrayPhotography
      @RobGrayPhotography  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The photo area is even with first/third base so depending on the side you are on you can easily get the center fielder and the left or right fielder. You will have to do some cropping with the 300mm but it works well from my experience. You could add a 1.4 extender or I have a 400mm but I prefer the 300mm for the shots at home plate. Some of the photographers just use a 70-200mm for everything so there are a lot of options.

    Rob, could you list the links for the products that you use in the description by chance? Thanks, great podcast Brother!
