It's nice to see Manny getting out of his comfort zone of portrait photography, he seemed to really enjoy it!
👌🏼I've never done sports photography. The results looked great! I like this type of content in addition to all the other videos you have produced.
Hey Manny, well done! You definitely improved from your first outing and you got some very good images. I figure you ended up with about 3000 images before the night was over. That's a lot of images to review. Over the years I've developed a process that works well for me, you may not like it and that's ok. Here's what I do.
I edit images of each batter on every pitch. If the batter misses or takes a ball I already know that is not a shot I will use. Since you have about 30 seconds between pitches I use that time to delete all the images for that pitch which is normally about 5-8 images. I know before each game that I will get about 15 good solid pictures and of them about 5-6 will get published. Editing time can become a problem when you have a lot of images to review and rate and this technique saves me a lot of time. Can't wait for the next game.
That's a great time on workflow Bob, cheers. The r3 is handy because it allows you to bulk delete a sequence so if it's a miss then one click those 10-30 images are gone at once.
Great editing. Made the viewer feel like they were really there themselves in the photographers' enclosure, taking photos.
She wasn't on tv, but she's definetly on TH-cam now lol. Awesome shots man!
😂😂😂
I‘m shooting Polo on a regular basis - and that’s the gear one needs.
@@MannyOrtiz just thought you should know that on your 5 minute portrait challenge video with westcott someone is pretending to be you and asking people to message them about a prize. I got the message and it looks like they did it to everyone who commented on the video. Just thought you would want to know.
Man this is one of my dreams to do photography for an MLB team. Great shots :)
Also, the girl said "was I just on tv" took me out lolol
I was at the Cubs game the following day! Nothing like watching the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Man the Canon R3 pops. I have been a Sony user for years I own 2 A7SIII's and a A7III. I just got the Canon R5 today and am waiting on the lens. I can't wait to use it. I like the photos better out of Canon. Your video of the R5 against your Sony A7R4 showed me how better Canon's colors are.
There's a growing Baseball community in Kenya, I get to photograph their matches, to learn Baseball (still learning).
I will one day get to photograph, in one of these stadiums and enjoy the game.
Thank you for this P.O.V
Been looking for this! It’s dope! Enjoyed it a lot. Do a summary of your thoughts in a follow up vid when you get some time. That combo, man, pure fire
Get this man to the allstar game in LA. Pics are 🔥
Really cool to see this different type of work from you!
when you went vertical @5:30 that was dope. 🔥🔥🔥
Shooting baseball looks like a lot of fun! You did well from what I saw. I'd love to get my hands on the R3 and a 400mm so I can give it a try. What a beast combo!
Good Job Manny! I was looking for Jared Polin in the background but didn't see him. I prefer outside 1st base shots, although the ones from the bleachers were pretty cool.
Everyday, your videos inspire me in multiple ways. Keep up the insane work Manny the man!
What a great opportunity and experience that is. Congrats.
Can you tell us your camera settings please ?? And do you think if i use canon eos r and lens 70-200m f2.8 would give good results ?!.
Nicely edited and great shots Manny
Manny, good shots! How do you like reportage photography?
This was 🔥🔥🔥🔥 bro!!!
looks so much fun
Man that Sony 400gm looks pretty. Would pair nicely with my 300gm :-) - Nice shots Manny!
Hey Manny, I hope all is well. Can you please advise which Lightroom presets from your collection you used to edit the Cubs game images. You placed a note under the image but I noticed you have a few variations of Lightroom presets. Thanks, Kevin
Very cool! Great job on the photos. Nice seeing a Cubs game in action. Haven't been to once since I was a kid.
Dope shots !
Manny, what focus settings did you use?
Good job Manny, looked like fun.
Would you recommend 70-200mm 2.8 for baseball or just 400mm?
Love your content and appreciate the shot detail story for each one. Would you suggest R7 as upgrade to A7III?
I’m a dad doing HS baseball and hoops videos and love the idea of 15fps and 32MP to crop.
I love sports photography. Glad to see you exploring more avenues here Manny! Photos look great!!
Any reason why you chose Canon R3 over the A1?
This looked like a blast ,🤙🏾
“Was I just on TV?” Classic
This is dope!
Do more sports shoots asap with the r5 and r3 @manny
Sports photog here, thanks for doing this vid, we sports photog get little love so seeing this was awesome. How are your feet doing?
Beautiful work. It has a different feeling when getting a cool shot no one has 😁✌🏽👍🏽
Manny take some pictures at baseball game its an awesome feel , in Mexico I work with a baseball team on my city , kind regards from Aguascalientes , Mexico
This is awesome. Very beautiful and entertaining work. Love it !!
Really nice shots looked like fun .
Nice shots Jared, oh I mean Manny. Dream setup 🔥🔥🔥
That’s the dream right there
Love this video and I love going to baseball games it made me feel like I was at the game
Awesome shots
How much of a rolling shutter issue do you get when shooting sports with the R7? I know you do mostly portraiture, so maybe you really haven't had a chance to judge the R7 for sports. I'd love the R3, but it's currently not in the budget. I'm shooting sports right now with a 1D X, a 7D Mark II, and my trusty, old 1D Mark IV. I shoot sports in California for a newspaper in New Mexico, mostly MLB games. Just whenever a team, college or pro, that they follow is our my way, I get the assignment.
Great combo setup. To bad it’s outa my price range. Love the photos
GO CUBS!!! 🐻
I loveeee!!!
I’d love to see more sports
Excellent real live shoot edit. 👍
Great Canon colours.
I love this video
Shooting 30fps with baseball makes a huge difference vs half that with a 1d, especially bat on the ball at the plate. No fun culling through all those shots. Any comments on the AF modes?
Those fotos are so sick 🔥🔥
Not sure what else you could have done better. Shots looked great. Maybe just try some more different compositions while shooting from one spot?
Can you make a video going over what you learned about the etiquette of shooting pro sports and how to get access?
What a thrill
Nicely done buddy!
Great Stuff Bro
Dope stuff
Excellent video
My go-to Sony man (who got me into Sony Full Frame) goes with the Canon on this and not the A1! Hahahaha. Looks like fun my man! I shoot with my A1 for basketball and absolutely love it. Canon setup looks like fun too. I'm just too deep in Sony glass. Thanks for awesome video!
man, Canon's cool and all, but there's nothing like the UI of Sony.
Shot on a go pro?
Wow!! Really nice bro!
who ever was next to manny where ball came at camera man. i had that 3 weeks ago was behind the netting thou and did not flinch. you did great job and worked with what you had to work with like. me not sure what you could done different. because have not been to that baseball stadium since 1975 or 1976 was 4 1/4 to 5 years old when pops took me to game there. do not recall. your great shooter. i need to learn to be shooter like you for portraits. but i am your opposite. i am sports photographer using Z6 that slow and hard to focus with AF dramatic or eye af or face af on Z6 with not great but nice to have. you where spot on. just need to learn how to when to rapid fire shots and stop rapid fire shots so you do not get to much before or after shots. that what eat ups memory card. is having to many shoots before or after action.
Can we get a video of how to do a photoshoot with a couple or multiple people involved in the shoot?
2:28 goddamn. don't like baseball, but if I got a chance to try this at an nba game id die of happiness. wouldn't do well though lol
U made some killer baseball card ,awesome job and pics for them.
"Was I just on TV?" 😂
Lmao
@@MannyOrtiz You should've been like "Yea I got up and close and personal on your face."
Do you still want the nikon 400 f4.5? Second hand the Canon 400mm v2 costs about $6500
Day'AAAMMMM! Manny your images look $$$$ ; you didn't realize you had another career, sports photography pro!. Bring that R3 and 400 f2.x.. I'm creamin'. Your Steroids cologne made that Sony 600 move out the way... 3:11 . Boss like.
How do you get to shoot at a baseball game ?
Yea shoot @canon now when they hook you up with awesome lens.
What fun. I would love to do that.
@Manny Ortiz, I know it would be more difficult but for the final shot that you end up choosing can you possibly show the original framing of the photo and then almost do an animation to show its final crop….that is if you actually end up cropping. Just to wrap my head around how much reach is on a specific lens that you are using at that time. I hope this makes sense, I guess the best example would be like Duade Paton who does wildlife photography and if you check out one of his vids maybe that can explain what I’m trying to say. This is just constructive criticism and I appreciate your videos and the time it already takes to output videos like you do. 🇨🇦 thanks for “listening”.
This is sick! Anything you can’t do? But 🥵 on the price. The weather was perfect though and I love the quality retained even in low light!
well no complaints about the R3 (ecept the price) , but maybe a 600mm or 800mm for closer shots? But other than that perfect.
baseball is such a dull sport but makes for some cool pictures
very cool
The extra MP of the A1 or Z9 would have came in handy.
That was cool
Please more Sport Photography Content
o my good Really nice
That’s really cool. How many games must you shoot to pay off a $16,000 lens?
The lens is about $11k
Sick!!!
Awesome
it looks nikon didn‘t send you the latest 400mm F4.5
Nope. I even asked them directly 😥
@@MannyOrtiz So sad
@@MannyOrtiz i‘m actually waiting for your field test of that new telelen, but nikon didn't response that🥲
great video ! i just have one question though ! what didnt you use the sony A1 i think it's a better choice than the R3, dont you think ?
R3 is primarily designed for professional sports photographers. A1, while awesome, isn't as good in this arena. For what Manny normally shoots, A1 over the R3
@@parttimephotographer3384 thank you for the explanation
There's also the very real likelihood that Manny had temporary access to the Canon 400 2.8, but not the Sony lens. These are such specialized and high-priced pieces of equipment that when you get the chance to shoot with it, you jump on the opportunity.
@@anthonyc1883 yeah that could beit as well. Didn't thought of that! Thanks for the reply
That’s got to be the most dangerous and fun job
2.8 at 400? NICE!!!
Nice snaps. That shutter sound is annoying.
Spray and Prey.
Jealousy! But for real awesome! Great pictures!
The photos look great, but we'd really like to know your thoughts....
I have a similar setup ( 400mm prime it’s the unstabilized version paired with my 5D mark IV it is but it didn’t cost a 3rd of that price and my results are very similar if not better honestly )
16k vs missile balls
One takeaway is that a 400 without a TC isn't very useful at all from the bleachers.
Love your videos... I do have to say as a fellow sports photog, I am shocked the MLB allowed you to use video footage. They are pretty strict with rights management and credentialing for video.
the chick who caught the ball was a lil baddie
Who gets dibs on a ball that lands in the pit?
Them clicking sounds tho. Geez.
