    I've had an eBike for 15 months, thought I'd ride it a couple of times a week. I ride it to work everyday! I've done 4500 miles on it! It is life changing. And I don't have to pay to park it 🙂

    Gary is right on. I worked in the transportation industry nationally and internationally my whole life and I can vouch for Gary's observations and assessments. So glad you were able to capture his talk and share.

      Thanks Ted! It was pretty interesting to get his open thoughts on these topics. I’ve had many similar thoughts, but he expanded many ideas for me which I appreciate.

    I love Gary Fisher, had a two niner a long time ago with Marzocchi fork on it and it was the best bike I had ever ridden, absolute flying machine! His geometry revolutions were so influential in the mountainbiking world, he's a true living legend!

    I built a Gary Fisher ProCaliber carbon fiber mid drive 750 watt ebike. Fun to ride but rim brakes can be kinda scary. I also built another one that is 1500 watt mid drive with a 56volt 20ah battery. It has 220 mm hydraulic disc brakes, fat tires and Rokshox downhill fork. I'm 67 and ride it a lot with a big grin. Fast and fun with over 2100 miles on it. Way more fun than a car for short trips around town, plus it will go anywhere.

    we should take abandon tracks of the rail roads and turn them into bike paths for ebikes in the citys or out side the citys .if the rail road is never going to use them agian .it will be up to the citys to take up the tracks and the state to pave the bike roads were the tracks use to be.just a thought.it would be for ebikes and mopeds.

    I have an e-bike and absolutely love it! (I'm 59) Electric is here at last but.... are we not still going to have the same problems with e.-cars? traffic congestion, etc. Not to mention people that absolutely should not be driving ANY kind of vehicle??

    I still have a Gary Fisher mountain bike. I'm considering buying an electric conversion kit to make this bike into a car replacement for me. At least until that 30% ebike 30% tax credit gets passed in the US, and until Washington State gets rid of sales tax on bikes. Then I'll replace it with a $4000-$5000 ebike.

    If you want an adventure, pedals are a good pace... always something... around every corner.... transportation has never been about point A and point B to me... it is all about the journey... get on a bike... sky hook a couple batteries and and a helper motor... so....so what??? share the road...

    I rent my flat to earn money. Have only 2 electric bicycles and driving a car should be the last solution or in long shared trip...
    I am not sure it's a problem of usa model. Many other countries are like these. But it's TRUE Netherlands (the flat small country) was always ahead in that area (and many other areas...

      The US culture has a major issue in this area. Most short trips are taken by a car in the US. Even 1km it’s common to take your car. We work everyday to help change this culture.

    convenience drives things - Bequemlichkeit siegt.This is probably the number one reason for a lot of transportation problems.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree. Electric bikes address this well, but the problem is most infrastructure is still car centric. We still have a long ways to go here in the US.

    • @michaelbeiyt
      @michaelbeiyt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Propelbikes This is basically the same problem in Germany. Most cities are car friendly. Although the bicycle is well established and everyone learns to use from an early age, the streets are made for cars. With all our car manufacturers and their strong lobby this will be hard to change.
      But I am still surprised when I watch your videos from the Bosch event. It seems like bicycles are not seen as a valid tool for transportation in the US so far.

      Hein Blöd we have a long way to go, but I don’t lose hope. David and Goliath might be a fable to some, but it’s a true story in my book 😉
      We just need to do our part and remember how our small steps can impact others. We’re all examples of what’s bad and good in the world. I just try to be more of the later.

    that bay bridge story with a tube is very silly. yes people draft and go faster. no commuters do not draft or go the speeds required for drafting to be significant.

    Just like in Pennsylvania in the 1800s. A city with all amenities for the rest of your life within 15 miles or less.

    Without integrating a discussion of Agenda 2030, and the aims of the Klaus and the World Economic Forum, all this talk about e-bikes and sustainability and health sounds depressingly naive and and irrelevant. I think the kids are going to catch on to way more than the absurdity of prioritizing ones house and car. What about the absurdity of handing over our future to AI?

    The intergration of private vehicles & public transport is the real goal here. It need not be scooters. I would be happy to have a mid range electric car if i could drive it onto a platform train to travel long distance.
