My phone interview for Lowes is in an hour and then BAM! This video pops up outta fuckin' nowhere, so I'm watching this HOPING for like... a little warm up, ya know? The first resume has the exact same format as my actual resume.... I agree to an extent on the "status bar" section looking weird, but it's main use tbh is to rank higher in the ATS (applicant tracking systems) results. You put in key skills that you have that the job requirements need and the ATS will automatically rank you higher if you meet what they are searching for.
I edit a lot of fucking resumes and this period BEFORE the sentence thing is way more common than anyone would guess... as it turns out, a lot of people just don't know how to format bulletpoints on their computers and use either a period or asterisks as a placeholder and eventually just forget.
This was actually really helpful, I'm currently studying television production at university and am struggling to find work in the industry because of COVID but the little things like this will hopefully help improve my chances of getting at least noticed by someone who works within the industry :)
12:00 That discussion point about 'What can I help with' is VERY true. It may work, but it honestly is much more burdensome. If you see someone performing their job, just observe for a while. Notice something that they may repeat throughout a day and ask if they wouldn't mind teaching you how to do to that to help them. Making an educated offer will show that you have put infinitely more effort into the request and are more genuine.
