It was a charity fundraiser as a part of Jon Stewart's "Night of Too Many Stars" in 2012 to raise money for autism research. If the event raised a certain amount of money, Conan said he would get a bad spray tan, and get his hair braided. They raised enough for him to do it and they did a whole remote out of it.
