This coming right after the DNF Duel video is a hell of a gut punch, haha. I was thinking to myself if Neople would pull a CyGames and reinvest in DNFD like what happened to GBVS
@@ZettaSlow Xbox is missing a lot on all these free games that are only on PC and PS. If they wanna boost their player count, these games gotta be ported and even support Xbox One longer

they promote it a lot to the gacha players who i think the free version was aimed at to get casuals trying the game out thx to granblue ip. i agree tho i dont think they realise they cld do a lot more with the free version
hah... hahahahah... please dont remind me of that meta for people not knowing: she was *SO* strong, most people (and i'm not exaggerating - more than half the playerbase did this) agreed to just block nier players, which prevents them from getting into another game with you. I love this game, but the nier release and the month following that was hell - i only played for the first week of that month, did the whole blocking-thing to every nier, and despite that got burnt out fighing all the niers so i stopped and came back after the patch. She had full-screen zero-to death combos that worked 75% of the time as you basically had to win 2 coinflips to get out. i cant remember another fighting game character this dominant since fox in melee. 70%+ pickrate in a game with a fairly big roster
I actually started playing fighting games more because of GBVSR. While I will always think Skullgirls has the best tutorial to learn the genre's skills and techniques, GBVSR is my game that helps cultivate game sense cause I can just hop in, and feel how it is to apply the things I'm learning instead of worrying about whether I can input a DP.
I gotta give all the credit in the world to cygames for really committing to going through rough spots and misses to commit to the game space outside of the gacha monetization systems. Reviving and supporting GBVS, going through pretty insane amounts of development hell and restructuring to get relink out (which luckily was a great success) are great examples of them following through on their statements to commit to these spaces. Pretty excited about their future in both development and IP.
A lot of it is just trying to reach the western market more and funnel some of those players back to the gacha game, or at least expand the franchise outside of Japan. Much of the west just doesn't play Gacha games even if they are decent, but you put a really good looking JRPG or Fighting Game in front of the crowds that play those games, you will see success generally. It means that when they continue to create more games, and in the case of Relink make a much more content filled sequel, hopefully it releases in a decent timeframe, there will be an install base who recognized that GyGames puts out quality and will continue to see growth.
The universal changes to 66L indeed change the landscape. Tier lists didn't realy changed, but tournament representation of different characters is huge W. FFS we have Vasaraga player beeing dominant for several weeks. This is nuts. As a spectator I love 1.4 patch very much. They already announced balance adjustement for 1.5, wich will drop after Combo Breaker.
I wouldn’t say tier lists didn’t change. Unless you mean off the 66l changes alone. Because that patch definitely changed the position of a few characters. Notably anila who went from borderline unusable to top tier overnight.

Its "babys first fighting game", but with enough skillceiling and player expression for it to make it to EVO. Good music and character designs too - really, REALLY happy it got a "remake" and is doing as well as it is. i'm playing multiple times per week and i dont think its gonna get boring soon. Thank you arcsys!
I have been playing fighting games since 1992. GBVS is probably my Top 3 Fighting Game over Streetfighter and KOF series. Beautiful art, awesome characters, great netcode, free stuff to grind, and basically fun.
This game is awesome. I really recommend it for beginner fg and veteran fg players. Really easy to pick up and play but with the usual depth of a lot of fighting games
The video appeared, and reminded me that I owe participation in tournaments. Not even just to myself, but to opponents, to have higher attendance numbers. Even if I'm losing more often than winning, I'll learn by doing, slowly maybe but eventually. It's still somewhat psychological, but I want to see 40+ people playing every week, and not 20-30.
Fun fact: there's a south american server, created back when only VS existed, and its still active, with people who still play and ping for vanilla. just goes to show how different the games are.
Love this game. In 2018 I was actually fighting game fun who started playing the Granblue Fantasy mobile, so imagine my surprise and hype when GBFV got announced. Rising news was even more awesome and it's in my top 3 fighting games, it's visuals being undeniably the best looking Arcsys game and fighting game in overall.
I unironically enjoy GBVS more than GGST rn GG has iconic characters, interesting mechanics, and accessible gameplay, but there's a level of satisfaction in GBVS I don't get in Strive. Midscreen no one really gets more than autocombo > special, so it's a fight to move people into the corner, and then in the corner that's where you can really run your gameplan. If you're a beginner and don't really have one however, playing well midscreen is a viable option as well. GG has, to my knowledge, always been characters doing their own thing and learning how to deal with it. They can feel powerful essentially everywhere, or especially so somewhere on screen given their kit. It's good for diversity, but also leads to frustration in matchups when your character's not where they want to be. That's not to say Granblue doesn't have that, but given the system limits it's less prevalent. That homogeneity is what a lot of people said makes DBFZ boring, but it's also what makes both easy to start playing is that universal goal. I also love exploration in GBVS. Despite it's limitations I find myself saying Wow, that worked? more often than Wow, that doesn't work, and that's where the satisfaction comes in. Especially in the corner where, again, everyone really runs their gameplan, it feels so good to have found something and do it. Even just learning to link L into itself instead of going into autocombo feels like a win more than earning a hit in Strive and knowing you have to cancel into your next button, special, or knockdown. I think that's why Strive is so disliked by some is because they really did put strict limitations on a very free game, whereas GBVS, you go in knowing there are limitations and when you find exceptions, it feels great. Overall play both, but I hope if you haven't you really give Granblue Versus some time!
I literally just commented the same thing and just happened to scroll by your comment. I don’t generally watch a lot of fighting games, but there is something about GBFVS that just draws me in. I am not sure if it’s the unique combo routes depending on the player, the visuals, the impact frames on BP usage to extend combos, or just the quick pace of it. But some has got me watching every tournament I can. I can definitely seeing it pass GG in time
The double dash button shortcut is excellent choice for players that use analog stick instead of d-pad and should be used in other games also. The 1 button specials for 10% difference are bit strong for anti airs (similar issue with modern (assist) controls in sf6) but mostly irrelevant for diagonal inputs. I think SF6 has 20% which makes more sense and also forces you to select modern or classic.

My brother in Narmaya, you can use a brave point of your own to negate their raging strike and any oppressive blockstring, really.
I suggest getting gud.
@@DestroyDEI Yeah, my life got a lot better once I start using that.
Shame game play is not one of the things going for it.
GBVS was a love letter to neutral ground based footsies.
Rising is full on unfair kusoge without the freedom of movement that makes kuso trash bearable.
Unless they bring back honesty, this opportunity is just gonna be squandered again.
Skill issue tbh.
@@DestroyDEI Nah, grubble went from being the comfiest most helpful and positive fgc community. To whining and bitching 24/7 because nobody actually likes Rising's new mechanics.
but it's dead now... I wanted to play and couldn't find a match
What server are you in? I queue for 10 secs in eu and I get a match always
I keep getting matches non stop lmfao
Did you turn on crossplay and let it matchmaking in all regions? I think crossplay is default, but not all regions, so you better check.
I can't take a game with such a dumb name serious. Every single word in the name is just stupid.
Your name is stupider ad infinitum.
and it still got rekt by guilty gear. Another strive killer bites the 5D lmaoooo
My good man the game is from the same company.
And?
How is it a strive killer? They both play differently and theyre both by arcsys
Strive aint even guilty gear anymore. Cope harder.
Who cares. Game is still boring as hell
clearly you care since you're commenting your doo doo takes

Versus and Rising are both slow-paced non-deep mechanically uncompetitive piece of shit.
It has no violence, no speed, no momentum.
found the tourist
And that lack of speed is precisely why it's apt for novices.
You just have no talent, no skill.
