As a caregiver for my only son who is now 22, I understand the sacrifices Charisma had to make for love. Disability check or not unless you have been or walked in their shoes please never assume anything. No amount of money will make you sacrifice your freedom as an able body person, trust me

First car transfer, getting Cole into your parents house, the dreaded fall in the hotel and how the two of you worked as a team and didn’t have to call the fire department. When Charisma got sick and Cole was there doing what he could to de-stress her. All of those challenges and your relationship continued to grow. I was my boyfriends caregiver before he passed away. That check while a help does not cover much. We used it to cover his personal needs and the rest was on me. On top of that we had to wait like three years before they even approved him for it. I really enjoy watching y'alls videos and both of you are so sweet.

Thank you for addressing the disability check myth that SSI or SSD recipients are just flush with cash. We get paid ONCE. A. MONTH. That $500 you mentioned had to pay all your bills and utilities and rent for an entire month. People think it’s like regular paychecks and comes every 2 weeks. Uh uh. The first Friday of the month. That’s why stores are so busy at the beginning of the month, people spending their disability money for the month. Congratulations for finding a way off that hellish ride. When I first stumbled across your channel, my question was about how did Cole's mom feel about trusting a young lady to take care of Cole. When I saw the story of how they met, I assumed that Charisma's profession made it easier for his mom to trust her.
Oh my gosh kids….it’s universal that men like physical reinforcement of affection. It’s also universal that women can feel overwhelmed with physical touch. When young children are added to the mix it can be really overwhelming…..but that passes. I’m 68 and can tell you it’s a lifetime of ebbs and flows. Hi Cole & Charisma, I just wanted tell you both how amazing you are. Charisma I don’t know how you manage the line between wife & caregiver so well, but I know personally how tough it can be as I have Sickle Cell Disease. No one ever chooses a tragic life altering accident or disease but the caregivers around us can make more of a difference than anybody on the outside looking in can see, & sometimes a caregiver can be as instrumental as the cause itself, so I applaud you & Cole being able to navigate through such a healthy marriage & not letting Cole’s disability come between your marriage & always actively making sure that you are well mentally & emotionally so that you’re able to be that strength for each other rather than hitting frequent burnouts, making sure to have your own space individually plows for greater communication & support for each other & your love is shining so brightly because of it!!! Ahhhh the good ole disability check fortune… I will never understand how people even get to the assumption that having a disability check every month means you are banking (this is the govt we’re talking about) my disability is only in the upper $700’s per month & it took raising a little hell to get to that amount even as Cole stated it was just $500 something at 1st, so yea definitely not a pot of gold.

My hubby is 12 years older than me and I overheard my cousins say (we were all taking a walk and they were right behind me): he’s too old for her! - like I couldn’t hear them! I just turned around and just smiled, ran up to where my hubby was and gave him a big kiss!! Lol! I have s little piece of advice for Charisma tho - take care of your back honey! Make sure you do stretch’s, exercises and lift weights to keep it healthy! I took care of my parents for a while and had to lift, push, etc to help them out. I didn’t take care of my back like I should have then and now have issues. I wish I knew then what I know now!

I can totally understand Cole holding back his complaints or annoyances in the beginning of their marriage fearing Charisma wouldn’t want to be with him if he complained too much. It is good that you both are now fully transparent and can show your real selves to each other during times of frustration, stress and daily marital ups and downs. I also appreciate your willingness to be transparent with your audience, as you educate and share certain aspects of your life together as well as the helpful tips you give for a happy marriage to both disabled and able-bodied people. i wonder if the 'big check' assumption was because of the fancy altered truck and the expensive wheel chairs? idk i am disabled and also below poverty level and i have been on disability for 13 yrs now and with cost of living raises i am now getting a whopping $1129.00 a month and honestly its great because i started out at $700 a month and my mom had $500 a month so we were doing our best to live on that with two people and some pets. i feel very fortunate as iknow some elderly people on social security who just get about $500 a month and can't really make it on that. so i never thought that was a thing lol. i think that both of you were raised properly by two of the most loving sets of parents i have ever seen anywhere! and i believe that has helped your relationship as well bcz with such great examples of how to be, how could you go wrong!
Maybe they are thinking of his family wealth? Not just his disability check. Is his family well off? People can be cynical. From the videos I've seen, Cole and Charisma have a genuine affection for one another.
I think you two are genuine in your love and persona. I think that you try to show the positives of your life, even though Cole is paralysed you can still lead a happy and fulfilling life. On the other side it is nice to hear for those in a situation who are wanting love or in the early stages of what you already went through. There is nothing like positivity and encouragement. Being disabled doesn't have to mean living a life of sorrow. My husband and I have had conversations of what if we were in the same position. The incredible things you share help us know that it can be done and well and happily.

I have a disability but I also have a full-time career and a husband with a full-time job. I have seen people assume I am homeless, on disability, and/or need a nurse or aide. But I know people on disability and their lives are no picnic. They cannot be married to anyone who works or receives benefits because both sets of benefits are lowered. They cannot work for low wages or receive any checks from anyone because the government tracks any gifts or income that leave a paper trail. Therefore, in many cases, their lives remain dependent, lonely, and unproductive. Many have nothing to look forward to or move on to except more of the same life they began with!
Wish you would do a video on what is needed to make a place accessible for someone in a wheelchair. Like height of toilet, sink, door width, etc...We are redoing an older house and want to make it more accessible to use as an Air B & B but finding accurate info doesn't seem to be too easy! Maybe in conjunction with Squirmy and Grubs as the needs can be different?

There’s always assumptions about relationships, but in SCI world, it’s very different and hard. My boyfriend also have c5-c6 SPI, we’re together for 7 years now and alot of people always ask about our intimate life, and they’re thinking that we can’t have a child anymore because of his condition. Alot of patience is needed to tackle this kind of people and their assumptions! Btw, more power to you Cole and Charisma, you inspire us all esp. the Interabled couples out there💕💕💕

Thank you for addressing the disability check myth that SSI or SSD recipients are just flush with cash. We get paid ONCE. A. MONTH. That $500 you mentioned had to pay all your bills and utilities and rent for an entire month. People think it’s like regular paychecks and comes every 2 weeks. Uh uh. The first Friday of the month. That’s why stores are so busy at the beginning of the month, people spending their disability money for the month. Congratulations for finding a way off that hellish ride. Oh my gosh kids….it’s universal that men like physical reinforcement of affection. It’s also universal that women can feel overwhelmed with physical touch. When young children are added to the mix it can be really overwhelming…..but that passes. I’m 68 and can tell you it’s a lifetime of ebbs and flows. Hi Cole & Charisma, I just wanted tell you both how amazing you are. Charisma I don’t know how you manage the line between wife & caregiver so well, but I know personally how tough it can be as I have Sickle Cell Disease. No one ever chooses a tragic life altering accident or disease but the caregivers around us can make more of a difference than anybody on the outside looking in can see, & sometimes a caregiver can be as instrumental as the cause itself, so I applaud you & Cole being able to navigate through such a healthy marriage & not letting Cole’s disability come between your marriage & always actively making sure that you are well mentally & emotionally so that you’re able to be that strength for each other rather than hitting frequent burnouts, making sure to have your own space individually plows for greater communication & support for each other & your love is shining so brightly because of it!!!
Ahhhh the good ole disability check fortune… I will never understand how people even get to the assumption that having a disability check every month means you are banking (this is the govt we’re talking about) my disability is only in the upper $700’s per month & it took raising a little hell to get to that amount even as Cole stated it was just $500 something at 1st, so yea definitely not a pot of gold.
Because of their first names I call them the CC Conection and they are an awesome couple and I wish them continue happiness.

I don’t think you need to defend your relationship to anyone! My hubby is 12 years older than me and I overheard my cousins say (we were all taking a walk and they were right behind me): he’s too old for her! - like I couldn’t hear them! I just turned around and just smiled, ran up to where my hubby was and gave him a big kiss!! Lol! I have s little piece of advice for Charisma tho - take care of your back honey! Make sure you do stretch’s, exercises and lift weights to keep it healthy! I took care of my parents for a while and had to lift, push, etc to help them out. I didn’t take care of my back like I should have then and now have issues. I wish I knew then what I know now!

It is good that you both are now fully transparent and can show your real selves to each other during times of frustration, stress and daily marital ups and downs. Open lines of communication is everything.

i wonder if the 'big check' assumption was because of the fancy altered truck and the expensive wheel chairs? idk i am disabled and also below poverty level and i have been on disability for 13 yrs now and with cost of living raises i am now getting a whopping $1129.00 a month and honestly its great because i started out at $700 a month and my mom had $500 a month so we were doing our best to live on that with two people and some pets. i feel very fortunate as iknow some elderly people on social security who just get about $500 a month and can't really make it on that. so i never thought that was a thing lol.
i think that both of you were raised properly by two of the most loving sets of parents i have ever seen anywhere! and i believe that has helped your relationship as well bcz with such great examples of how to be, how could you go wrong!
Maybe they are thinking of his family wealth? Not just his disability check. Is his family well off? People can be cynical. From the videos I've seen, Cole and Charisma have a genuine affection for one another.
I think you two are genuine in your love and persona. I think that you try to show the positives of your life, even though Cole is paralysed you can still lead a happy and fulfilling life. I think some people may be jealous unfortunately, for whatever reason. I think you give people hope, that when something bad happens you can overcome it. We all need inspiration and love.

So when someone says, "She's only with him for the money", what they are really saying is, THEY would only do it, if money were involved. What people say, says more about them, and less about you. Some people may have genuine questions and concerns for their own lives and relationships, but some people are downright ignorant and want to stay that way. I love this. This is so wonderful that you care enough to answer questions you shouldn't have to. On the other side it is nice to hear for those in a situation who are wanting love or in the early stages of what you already went through. There is nothing like positivity and encouragement. Being disabled doesn't have to mean living a life of sorrow. My husband and I have had conversations of what if we were in the same position. The incredible things you share help us know that it can be done and well and happily.

I have a disability but I also have a full-time career and a husband with a full-time job. I have seen people assume I am homeless, on disability, and/or need a nurse or aide. But I know people on disability and their lives are no picnic. They cannot be married to anyone who works or receives benefits because both sets of benefits are lowered. They cannot work for low wages or receive any checks from anyone because the government tracks any gifts or income that leave a paper trail. Therefore, in many cases, their lives remain dependent, lonely, and unproductive. Many have nothing to look forward to or move on to except more of the same life they began with!

There’s always assumptions about relationships, but in SCI world, it’s very different and hard. My boyfriend also have c5-c6 SPI, we’re together for 7 years now and alot of people always ask about our intimate life, and they’re thinking that we can’t have a child anymore because of his condition. Alot of patience is needed to tackle this kind of people and their assumptions! Btw, more power to you Cole and Charisma, you inspire us all esp. the Interabled couples out there💕💕💕
I think the money thing is hilarious, because Cole is so well-rounded that as a boyfriend he is amazing 😃 for example compared to me, trying to heal from bullying, abusive childhood and being cheated on, he is like hundred million times better partner I am 🤭 Cole is just objectively desirable person!
