But your performance and fighter attitude has converted me into a fan. MMA needs more people like you. Chandler is the perfect example of why people say an MMA unionization will never happen. There are too many fighters that see it as themself vs the world instead of fighter vs promoter. If's the same mindset of why some people are against taxing the super rich. In their minds they almost expect to be in that comfortable position one day and dont want to compromise their future earnings. P.S your background audio mixing is too loud, you can barely hear anything while it's playing
When did you start following mma? That first fight with Yan was almost literally nothing like any other fight He's fought. The 2nd fight was almost exactly the way he's fought since 2017. Even though i think that fight with Bryan Carraway should have been a draw or a win, it changed him for the better. Stylistically that was a tougher match up with Caraway then what the perception was. I usually never bet on high favorites, I can't remember the exact number but I'll say around the plus 400 range Aljo was a favorite and I bet all I had in my bovada account on Sterling. That's something I usually never do. I was that convinced he'd win. Completely dominated 1st rd and should have been A 10-8 but Sterlings mindset is night and day better now then what it was back then, and he was still very good. His mindset is on another level now. All the hating and disrespect had the exact opposite effect then what the haters hoped for. Fans have a right to like and dislike who they want and there are fighters I don't like. I can't stand Miesha Tate and always root against her so I'm guilty too. Yan is a very easy fighter to vote for and like. Thank Aljo for making the first fight extremely entertaining. He went forward the entire time. Critics constantly critique him for being too conservative so he goes out there to put on a show then gets criticized for fighting too reckless. Impossible to escape criticism from people who most likely have never even taken a jiu-jitsu class let alone fight.
For the life of me I can't figure out what Chandler thinks this way. I have to listen to Luke Thomas' explanation again. I went to MMASalaries and Chandler early on in his career started at 5000K/5000k in 2010 in Bellator so he knew what it was like to fight and probably have to work a job to make ends meet. How he couldn't want other fighters to make more of the pie is beyond me.
I agree with sterling what's funny is that if ufc let fighters have their own portions in their fight trunks they'd be making fk ton but you force them to use the garbage venum and pay them scraps then they arent allowed to ask for more money? Let them get their own brand promotion or sponsors and they'll be rich.. I respect aljo more than any ufc fighter cause even though hes getting paid a lot of money he still speaking for the smaller fighters masvidal and Jones switched as soon as they got their deal
Either way ... its pros and cons. Dana said it the ufc is not just about fighting 'were doing business' the ufc making fights EVERY WEEK. Dont compare yourself to nba, nfl the sport already been there for long. Ufc begin at 1993. One thing though ... nice chain nice rolex nice ... that is the problem for the upcoming fighter ... michael chandler build himself up in the bellator from 5k ... of course anyone should be grateful for ufc to sign them
Fighter pay in my opinion has got to go up especially in the lower pay group, hopefully they get rid of the win bonuses (because losing half your pay over a loss is catastrophic, especially if you're making 12k/12k) and make the pay minimum 30k.
Paddy Pimblett got paid $12,000 to show and $12,000 to win. As Dana White has often said: "This is an opportunity, not a career". After Paddy won his debut fight, he signed with Barstool Sports for $5,000,000. So you could say that Paddy made a $12,000 bet on himself, knowing that the UFC as a platform would provide the largest "opportunity" in combat sports. The issue with fighter pay is that most fighters don't understand or invest in the entertainment side of the business. They think a win's a win - regardless of how they get it done. Most of the fighters whom I don't care for - or know, tend to do the worst job in communicating or telling their story. TH-cam has leveled the playing field for all fighters to tell their story and control their own brands and narrative. I couldn't stand Aljo a few fights ago. After learning more about him and his story, he's won me over as a fan. I felt the same way about Kamaru Usman until I learned more about his story and the way he has carried himself as a future hall of fame champion.
At the very least fighters should have a higher base highly but at the same time most of them need to do a little more to promote themselves and get themselves out there not everybody has to talk shit but everybody should do a little bit more so that asking for these bigger checks doesn’t seem so outrageous.
Odd reasoning by Michael Chandler to justify not being adequately paid for gathering an audience because of "Dana's sleepless nights" when the life of a fighter is that of struggle. You'd also have to assume he's one of the guys that's DEFINITELY getting underpaid given how popular he is. I believe the guys that are getting shafted are the guys at the TOP as opposed to the guys that don't have the big followings as is the usual line of thought. For those folks I think the sponsorship arrangement the UFC had before the Reebok deal was very helpful for supplementing their incomes, some even making more money from sponsorships than fighting itself (though this is still the case for some fighters like Paddy Pimblett). It's unfortunate that the UFC got rid of that sponsorship model and introduced the "fight kits", also had the consequence of messing up the MMA apparel market and subsequently the money available to fighters across the sport.
56000k for a teacher? That would be good, question is why didn’t he take it. He could have. He didn’t. He’d probably be a teacher saying “teachers need to be paid more”. Not many people are content with their pay. We all want more. Guy is also say he has 110k to save and invest. After his remodel? Lol. That’s something he wanted. NBA stars make most their money off endorsements . Do the same. At the end of the day he can go to Bellator, but he won’t. So how bad really is it?
A ufc salary cant be compared to a 9-5 job's salary .... for the 9-5 job's salary, you pay taxes and keep the rest but for the ufc salary, you pay taxes, coaching, medical, travel, management, etc + you get punched and bloodied .... As someone who worked a 9-5 job and competed in amateur boxing, i can say that amateur boxing is not worth it while the 9-5 is easy af compared to combat sport!
It would be nice if there was a fighter union that would argue for a living wage, benefits, etc. but, it’s unlikely to happen because the entirety of the roster would have to buy in and you have guys like Chandler who wouldn’t jeopardize their career for their peers to make a living.

Does a guy like paddy pimblet get to negotiate his starting contract at all due to his popularity? If a fighter is champion in another promotion does that help their contract? And how important is a good manager? Do Ali's guys get more in their contract than an unrepresented fighter?
To the masses paddy wasn’t that popular to start. That’s why he debuted at the APAX and didn’t have much leverage at all to negotiate. However I’m sure his next fight he will be on a new deal. Manager doesn’t matter much as long as they are competent
@@Dailysam6 style bender made his debut with a contract of 50k to show and 50k to win. Managers are very useful when it comes to contract negotiations but also Izzy was a former glory kick-boxer so that adds to his leverage.

Here’s the thing, the TH-cam and social media stuff does not guarantee big money. You’re a UFC champ and bringing in 10k on a video is a good reach. So how does it go for the ~530 fighters on the roster that don’t have a similar name recognition? Sure they can get their name out there but it isn’t easy and sometimes it’s really just luck.
In fact you haven’t hit 10k on a video in a year, you bring good interesting content, with a good setup and you’re consistent af. So what chance do newcomers to the UFC have?
It can be a very simple formula for guys just starting out , Like u just said for young guys like paddy and cj one is more popular than the other but they are both starting out they need to pay there dues, but really all Dana needs to do to make it even for fighters coming in and starting out is just pay them at least the median salary for whatever area they live in, that should at least cover there costs for starting out and they may not have to get a second job and obviously as time go on and they get more popular they make more Money but that should at least be there minimum. Who agrees?

Kinda did talk smack about Chandler with wrong facts that he was spitting, Chandler worked he ass off to accomplish all those things why is it bad that he became so good at it, maybe sterling should have chosen a different path

I'd admit, prior to the DQ win you weren't really on my radar. I was one of the haters that thought you'd just have your 15 mins of fame due to that win and disappear after the rematch.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 don’t blame Chandler. I don’t see Aljo doing anything.
@@robot9071 damn expert fight analyst here. Brilliant take.

I enjoy hearing your perspective, the background music was way too loud when it was going on. Not sure if it was on purpose or not. Just my two cents.
Sorry about that. When we did the edit, it didn't sound overly loud on the editing software.
You worked a full time job while training full time.... how was workplan and what durations were the training?
What's the background music at the start!
Good shit Aljo
For the life of me I can't figure out what Chandler thinks this way. I have to listen to Luke Thomas' explanation again. I went to MMASalaries and Chandler early on in his career started at 5000K/5000k in 2010 in Bellator so he knew what it was like to fight and probably have to work a job to make ends meet. How he couldn't want other fighters to make more of the pie is beyond me.
It’s puzzling. But he’s a good dude
He’s staying on Dana’s good side. Can’t really blame him
@@nonsensicalwebby1663 yeah. He wants a commentary job after fighting. So he has to be a company man
What's the background music in the beginning?

Couldn’t have said it better. Aljo, what do you think the PPV points will come to?
I agree with sterling what's funny is that if ufc let fighters have their own portions in their fight trunks they'd be making fk ton but you force them to use the garbage venum and pay them scraps then they arent allowed to ask for more money? Let them get their own brand promotion or sponsors and they'll be rich.. I respect aljo more than any ufc fighter cause even though hes getting paid a lot of money he still speaking for the smaller fighters masvidal and Jones switched as soon as they got their deal
UFC promotes them for free also which is huge as it's such a big company
So if they get paid more then they should pay for their own promos
Either way ... its pros and cons. Dana said it the ufc is not just about fighting 'were doing business' the ufc making fights EVERY WEEK. Dont compare yourself to nba, nfl the sport already been there for long. Ufc begin at 1993. One thing though ... nice chain nice rolex nice ... that is the problem for the upcoming fighter ... michael chandler build himself up in the bellator from 5k ... of course anyone should be grateful for ufc to sign them
Point blank you make it to the UFC you are facing killers right off the bat, it's the highest level of competition.
National champs in boxing make more than ufc champions
Fighter pay in my opinion has got to go up especially in the lower pay group, hopefully they get rid of the win bonuses (because losing half your pay over a loss is catastrophic, especially if you're making 12k/12k) and make the pay minimum 30k.
Well said ajio ima fan of Michael chandler but each fighter pay 💰 is different and the come up story is different most of them have second jobs
Bonuses have gone down too... once 60k to 75k every event but now 50k >: (
Hey aljo
you must be so happy . once Amber Turd is no longer playing her role in Aquaman..
maybe u can have a chance!
THANKS! Its my moment!!
Can't you argue that BECAUSE other fighters don't have the accolades and career that Chandler had, that he deserves the high pay?
Not to mention the amount of time you put in to even get in position to make “real” money..
At the very least fighters should have a higher base highly but at the same time most of them need to do a little more to promote themselves and get themselves out there not everybody has to talk shit but everybody should do a little bit more so that asking for these bigger checks doesn’t seem so outrageous.
🔥
I was a teacher for the first part of my UFC career. I did take the teaching gog
Perfectly said, I have all the exact same points
I’m no expert but he wanted to be a fighter probably.
We don’t need music in the background big guy.
It would be nice if there was a fighter union that would argue for a living wage, benefits, etc. but, it’s unlikely to happen because the entirety of the roster would have to buy in and you have guys like Chandler who wouldn’t jeopardize their career for their peers to make a living.
No, it wouldn't be nice.

Fighter pay is going up if you check fighter payouts… “NHL/NBA/NFL” athletes get paid more because there are more eyes on the sport. And Michael did grind his way to high pay so you cant say he cant relate.
For what we bring in we could definitely get more without hurting the owner’s pockets
@@FunkMasterUFC cant argue with that.

A reckless thing to say from Chandler
Want big pay? Bring big audience! SIMPLE.
Chandler seems like a good guy in general, but he needs to stop pulling the ladder up after he's climbed it.
Tell him again! I like chandler to but he should shut up about pay when he’s one of uncle Dana’s favourites.
16k to show is a sick joke when you think about how much you pay out in between fights. 😊😊
You NAILED everything i wanted to say but didn't know how, thanks dude 👍.
Who agrees?

No fighter should be bringing home in pocket 50k after every fight.
