However, the majority of single-player games have limited replay value when compared to "live service" games. The term "dead game" does not exactly apply to single-player games due to the nature of a player game. Online player counts and continued support after purchase are more applicable to "live service " games, especially low MMO servers. Elden Ring and BG3 are different single-player games that focus on replayability. Elden Ring has the online PVP and co-op, which extends the replayability of the game. BG3 has no DLC and has minimal online support. However, games like BG3 are designed to be played from the beginning multiple times. Games like Spiderman, Batman, Dragons Dogma 2, Hogewarts, etc. are great games that are often designed to be played a limited amount of times. Not every game has to focus on player retention. Games like Spiderman are meant to be completed. Then, move on to another game. Developers are not required to continue the support of a single-player game after it is purchased. Calling Spiderman a dead game is not an accurate label, IMO.

It's a single player game, what do you mean it's "Dead"? Dead games are multiplayer games that you can't play anymore because there are no other players playing. That's what "Dead" means.
Y’all lack creativity to the point it’s laughable.😂😂 from the plethora of suits we got for both miles and Peter, to the swinging mechanics and story mode, there’s plenty to do honestly. HOWEVER, I don’t disagree on the idea that insomniac dropped the ball though. Plenty of suits missing from the game and no DLC is pretty disappointing. On top of that this game’s replayability does suck, it’s nowhere near as playable as the first two. Still a decent game for what it is though.
I agree. Replay is ass. Out of all three, Miles morales had the best replay for me and side missions, but the worse story, while SM 1 had the worse gameplay out of all of them and transversal is boring for me but the best storyline that I never can get tired of. AND the missions are well paced and fun (except for mj) Each game has its strength and weaknesses. Spider-Man 2 has the worse replay, and side missions, but a great transversal, combat, and suits. And gameplay is perfect.
I still play post game everyday. Just fightin random crimes. It's one of the things I do to get rid of stress after a long day As for new dlc, I can take it or leave it at this point
Devs don't HAVE TO make the players want to return for the game. It can be a great game by itself, without any DLC. (You know... like back then...) I still agree with you on this one though, because they absolutely teased dlc and still didn't deliver. Their development also slowed down drastically compared to the first game. Technically, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 isn't even finished, because the third act was almost cut completely. And it does not help at all, that everyone is wondering why insomniac would cencel "The Great Web"... All in all a shitty situation.

Yes same! After playing the first game again on PC for this video, it looks so much better than SM2 it's crazy. Of course depends on your PC specs, but SM2 on PC will look insane

Got a PS5 for Christmas 2023 bundled with SM2. Beat the game in a month and haven’t touched it since. I told myself I’ll replay it when there is DLC so it can feel fresh again… looks like it’s gonna be a while!
At least the crime system is more varied and spread across a whole city. Do wish they were more involved at times like the first one though. Miss the more difficult car chases and mashing buttons to lift/toss the cars. We need a hangout system for Peter and Miles too. Yeah you can see them drop into crimes together and high-five or hug afterwards but I wish there was a spider-lair where they can hangout and play some weirdly thought up homemade games together or something. I basically forget there even are other main characters in Pete's circle when I'm just on and messing around in the city. We need stuff for Peter to do, not just Spider-Man. If they gave us Peter's bike riding in the open world without using bugs and just had us delivering pizzas that would be something. Can already hear the easteregg dialogue for the SM2 game, "Glad I still had my old bike, I can't even imagine trying to swing around the city to deliver all these... they'd be ruined for sure."

I just finish replying 1 again. Man I love that game, it's truly almost perfect, one of my favorite Spider-Man thing in general. Idk why Insomniac worked with SBI but I'll forever blame that landfill.
Look bro, this is a solo game, if the devs/publishers dont wanna keep milking it without having good ideas for dlc let them make a new ip or sequel or whatever project
It’s a fantastic game. Probably the greatest spider man game ever made. At least in my own opinion. That being said, Insomniac hasn’t done the best job at making the game worth playing past your first or second play through. But at this point most of their employees are focused on the new Wolverine game. So you can’t really blame them that much.

There are no DLCs because it would've mainly explored: 1. Black Cat's relationship with her girlfriend. 2. Miles' deaf girlfriend and her daily struggles. 3. MJ side missions. And somewhere within the team of developers and creatives, the ones who still love Spider-Man would refuse to have those DLC stories made. So it was either those or nothing at all. And it looks like we've won, actually. Because we've got nothing. It's better to leave the game as it is(I don't think I need to explain why). Peter literally RETIRED by the end of the game. It would've just been Miles serving as a plot device for the women of Spider-Man 2 to shine.

Honestly I think Spider-Man 2 is a great game. Let’s be honest tho it’s not what we thought, we thought it’d be more than what it was…. Maybe insomniac felt salty with the response months after the game’s release. Not to mention the leaks for the other games they were working on.
A single player super hero game is not meant to be played for an entire year...You play it for 30 hours, complete it, maybe come back for a new game plus after a year or two and be pretty much done. And that is fine. I swear those live service mind numbing games screwed entire population of gamers. It’s a single player game so I played it at launch, platinumed it and now a year later I’m just returning to do a new game plus. I don’t think we are getting dlc for Spider-Man 2 because they were working on the live service spiderverse game that got cancelled so now they pivot to wolverine, the venom game and then Spider-Man 3
frankly its an offline single player game and doesnt NEED DLC or constant updates. it would be fantastic and i adore the first! however i just want to see it brought to steam. fans would create mods to fix the things you dont like :)

a few days ago, i think. i only hop on every once in a while to swing while listenin to music, if i'm bored and don't wanna play anything else. i would've played the HECK out of NG+ if it dropped with the game on release, but since it came out as an update months later, it kinda fell outta my interest. still an awesome game
I hope the first DLC is a spider verse themed one How it will work in my opinion: After you collect all the spider bots you get given a device from the lady and if you use it anywhere on the map you can run in. What happens when you run in: It looks like the one from the movie but when you enter you can unlock way more spider verse skins and you can fight spider man 2099 and get chased by all the spider men. How to unlock the suits: Every spider man you defeat you get one spider token you can use those to unlock the suits The suit ideas: The suits would be : man spider-with the ability to get 4 more arms during combat-,spider-man classic -the cartoon spider man-. Skills: There is only one skill but it is activate the portals and fast travel anywhere-found at the end of traversal. Side quests: Green goblin lets loose from the portals you make it has a 1/20 chance of happening but once it has happened it won’t happen again.
Imagine you ghost your fan base for like almost a year and forget your most popular game that can make you a lot of money honestly guys I lose hope In insomniac and just want them to get themselves together because this is just sad.
Gameplay wise, I have to give the game a 9/10. Only thing I didn’t like about it was that the combat didn’t feel as weighted as the first game. In the first game, the kicks and punches felt like they actually had weight and effort behind them, kinda like in the Batman Arkham games. The combat in the second game, and even in the Miles Morales game, didn’t really feel like that. It’s very clear to see that Insomniac went for a more super power based combat system with the Symbiote and evolved Venom combat. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I think it gives the game a more unique identity and does a good job of separating itself from the comparison of the Arkham games. However, I feel that because of that, it sorta tanked the natural punch and kick system that made the combat in the first game feel really special. Story wise, I think the game is a 7.5/10. The story in the 2018 game packed a harder punch, probably due to the fact that they had actual Spider-Man comic writers on the team. I heard somewhere that in this game and the Miles Morales game that new writers were brought onto the project as their first gig at Insomniac. If that is the case, then I feel like they kinda fumbled the ball there. I understand wanting to give inexperienced writers a chance to flex their chops and improve their ability by working on a high production game, but for a sequel to a beloved game that people have been waiting years for? Yeah, you’re kinda throwing a pet goldfish into shark infested waters on that one. Needless to say, I still liked the story, I felt like it definitely had heart and effort put into it. I loved the dynamic between Miles and Peter, I loved Peter and MJ’s relationship, and I loved how Peter and Harry were at odds because of the Black Suit. I also really loved the close-knit bond that Spider-Man had with the people of New York in the side quests, even if the writers were inexperienced, they still got the characters and understood what they were all about. I also really liked what they did with Kraven and Martin Li, it really felt like a “tying up loose ends” kinda thing. The Black Suit and the Venom Arcs, though? That was extremely rushed, and really felt like Sony put the pressure on them just because they knew the game would still sell since it had Venom. I still enjoyed what I got with those arcs, they still felt like they had a lot of quality in them, I just wish I got a little bit more of them. Overall, I still believe that this game succeeds as a sequel, it may have its flaws, but I think it shines high more than it falls flat. Feel free to disagree with me, obviously not everyone is going to like this game, or even have the same reasons as me why they like it. But I still believe that this was one of the best games 2023 had to offer, and personally, it was my Game of The Year.
It’s a good game gameplay wise, but I prefer the original one from 2018 as a full package. The Story is 10 times better and the gameplay was the foundation for the sequels.

But at the same time, the story in the sequel also had its moments, and just had stuff that I really wanted in the first game. For example, the Sandman fight at the start, that really set the tone for me that this was going to be more superhero-esque compared to the first game that was more technology based with its villains. Yeah Kravens hunters use a lot of tech, but he himself is more practical with everything. We got a little bit more depth with each of the villains in this game as compared to the first game. Sandman’s daughter, Mysterio trying to be a normal person, Martin Li trying to be better, Kraven wanting to go down fighting. And, to a lesser extent, Harry wanting to do his best to make his dream come through with Venom. If I could make a good comparison for the first game and second game, It’s that the first game is more like a Spider-Man movie where the main focus is just Peter, Miles, and MJ as the main heroes and Doc Ock and Norman as the main antagonists. While the second game is more like an animated Spider-Man comic, that gives each character a little bit of time in the Spotlight.
I agree. I love the apocalyptic vibe the symbiote segment was going for but it didnt really feel fully fleshed out. The kraven bit was sick as hell though and you could feel the tension whenever he arrived
@@continental_consumerRight, the game had some really great moments in it, such as the Kraven boss fights. But I do understand the critiques of how they got to those moments was definitely rushed. Immediately after we get rid of the symbiote, it attaches itself to Harry, he kills Kraven and we’re jumping right into wide scale city transformation with the residents turning into Symbiotes. While I definitely enjoyed the story beats, it was still one segment after another with very little breathing room. But the narrative was still enjoyable: The heart-to-hearts Peter, Miles, and MJ had when everything came crashing down, Peter trying to do whatever it took to save Harry from Venom, and the ending scene where Peter takes a step back for a while as Spidey while Miles took the reigns in his place, so he could focus on rebuilding the EMF and settling down with MJ. All of those are very powerful scenes, it’s just that Insomniac rushed into them so they couldn’t fully send the payoff that the moments deserved. Those critiques are ones that I heavily agree with. But one critique I won’t agree with is the “Peter was nerfed” critique. I did notice that he wasn’t fully at 100% compared to the first game, but there was also plenty of moments that showed he was on his A-game: When he caught the Hunters arrow without even looking at Coney Island, when he saved both Harry and Tombstone from the burning building crumbling down on them, when he 1v1 Scream without the Black Suit, and all throughout the Wraith sub-plot. To me, that showed Insomniac didn’t neglect Peter’s strength. It’s just the character himself was extremely stressed out from the responsibility of being Spider-Man for so long and had trouble focusing at times, that’s all.
Asking the last time I played it doesn’t have an accurate answer. I fire it up all the time to swing around, but it’s for maybe 15 minutes. The physics aren’t wacky enough for me to constantly want to explore them like say, a GTA game. Once you beat the story, Miles and Wraith are the only assist you get, with Wraith always seeming like she doesn’t want you around. The crimes just don’t last long. The enemies are far too easy. Mindless symbiotes, stupid thugs, or animalistic Kraven minions. I want to play in the Peter/Venom rage I got to experience for about couple minutes. I don’t know what I’m trying to say. I fire up DBZ games because I can absolutely destroy enemies with full control. Not just pressing triangle and circle at the same time.
How come this game is dead it is not an online multiplayer game it is a single player game. The main game got released was super hit. Main story got complete honestly I am not waiting for dlc

@@L321 The third one is still questionable. But the first 2 are coming out. Data miners have found code related to each DLC by name. The question is how delayed is the DLC's. My Guess is winter Holiday or first quarter of the year. We have to remember Insomniac is not an independent studio and part of the PlayStation family. PlayStation Has the final say on how things get pushed around and with concord being a big blunder and the hacks, It would make sense for them to release something first quarter to have a good market cap to start off the year

You just love throwing around big and bold words to get your point across. Yes, thats not as well as the first games 50 million but thats just how sequels tend to go. Assuming it has sold at least 15 million as of now, its made over 1 billion USD, which is 3 times its budget and therefore a huge success and not a flop.

They sold around 10m copies witch is LOWER then first game (How is that not a flop if your next game sells worse then first one?) That's why DLC were cancelled. They knew risk is to high for DLCs to not being profitable.

While every point you made is valid, I think the reason Spider-Man 2 is more forgotten about than Spider-Man PS4 is not only because of the execution of the story, but more of the replay value in the gameplay. Crimes are random now when the first game had different types of crimes for each district to 100%. We still to this day don’t have Symbiote surge customization to where we can surge into any suit, something fans have wanted since launch. While the main campaign for both of the main titles are similar in length, the lack of post game content is transparent in Spider-Man 2, and I’m not even talking about DLC. Spider-Man 1 had lengthier crimes, lengthier side missions with a much smaller map. Although Spider-Man 2 added Queens and other districts, the side missions are much shorter. The game goes by in the blink of an eye. That combined with the lesser resonating story makes this game forgettable for many players, even hardcore Spider-Man fans like myself. I had never been so hyped for a video game before. I got the collectors edition. And overall, as fun as the game was initially (and still is), I just don’t find myself going back and playing it like I did with Spider-Man 1.
Well honestly the main thing is it just should have been a better game the story is mid if not worse, Peter is objectively nerfed and is the damsel in distress in his own game almost getting killed having to get saved every five minutes, miles is barely in the game you play as him a few times in the story,the symbiote arc is too short, venom is completely mischaracterized, anti-venom is damn near pointless cause peter couldn’t even beat venom in 1v1 with anti-venom even tho that is literally venom’s weakness but he somehow got choked out despite all he has to do to hurt the symbiote is just touch it, mj missions are still here and insomniac even doubled down on it saying fuck the fans and I can keep going but this comment is long enough More people would have stuck with marvel’s spider-man 2 if they enjoyed it because good gameplay can only take you so far when you are a story game insomniac basically shot their-self in the foot and they probably realized this and just abandoned this game the dlc is just not happening hell even insomniac said they are busy with wolverine to even bother with sm2
I like both 1 and 2 but I always thought 2 was missing something the first game lacked. The first game has the better story and stealth while the second game has better combat and web swinging, so I really can’t decide which game I might like better

Damn this game really is dead man. Compare the first game, this didn’t live up to the expectation I wanted. It didn’t have the longevity the first game had. And the reason was 1. the gameplay 9/10 it feels the exact same as the first. The combat don’t have a lot of varieties to it, no button combinations/ u can’t double perfect dodge/ no environment takedowns/ u still can’t double/triple finishers on enemies which is absurd. Heck even with the black suit, u can’t even morph into the suit and u can’t do more than one finisher. This is why im saying it didn’t have that longevity.
Well the game will be 1 year old next month from what i remember, and also yea it kinda sucks there's no DLC, but i guess that's because Insomniac games might also be worked up, i mean they're also making Venom game and marvel's wolverine game, so it kinda gives a point, altough they could at least give small words on what's going on but yea it is what it is, altough they might suprise us in future

Since they'll probably make a PC Port in the future my guess is that they're delaying it to when the PC port releases so that PC players also have to buy the DLC separately, and not have the DLC included like SM Remaster

The game costs $99 in canada and $115 after tax, its lowkey a scam and the story is literally only 15 hours I got rdr2 for $20 and the story is 50 hours and spiderman 1 cost me $10 and the story was 24 hours long
Not defending Spiderman 2- it's a boring ass game tbh. But RDR2 is a 6 year old game. Of course it'll be cheaper. Plus, Rock Star makes their environments feel alive and bustling. Insomniac's NYC felt dead and barren.

Okay, here's the brutal honest truth. Sony, I love you but you're greedy. When they release a game only to new gen consoles like this they strip away a good portion of their sales. Not everyone even has a new gen console still and probably wont for a little bit. I myself was raised on the perspective of waiting until things develop more, these days they always need time to perfect a new gen system. Why they didnt release this on ps4 is beyond me.

Nah I like the gameplay and that’s what brings me back to the game so no, not completely dead. Like other ppl have said casuals prob get bored after 2 months but it’s still being played for me to this day. I admit insomniac def weren’t as consistent with communication as they were during spm ps4 but that’s bc yes they announced DLC way before launch but since they didn’t announce DLC they don’t need to update anything. Everything else is just a bonus after NG+
I just bought it 2 weeks ago this is my first time playing Spider-Man in a long time since the 2018 version. I really don't bother me at all because it's not an online game where you can do multiple things online and receive updates. But I can't go back and play it as many times as you want when I feel like it ain't nothing else to play. But all in all I'm taking my time with the game though so. I like it so I'm still on Grand theft Auto v and I will be on Grand theft Auto 6, I'm just going back to five and six stop complaining.

Yes, I'm sure that we can find some more single-player games that have engaged player base.
However, the majority of single-player games have limited replay value when compared to "live service" games.
The term "dead game" does not exactly apply to single-player games due to the nature of a player game.
Online player counts and continued support after purchase are more applicable to "live service " games, especially low MMO servers.
Elden Ring and BG3 are different single-player games that focus on replayability.
Elden Ring has the online PVP and co-op, which extends the replayability of the game.
BG3 has no DLC and has minimal online support. However, games like BG3 are designed to be played from the beginning multiple times.

Y’all lack creativity to the point it’s laughable.😂😂 from the plethora of suits we got for both miles and Peter, to the swinging mechanics and story mode, there’s plenty to do honestly. HOWEVER, I don’t disagree on the idea that insomniac dropped the ball though. Plenty of suits missing from the game and no DLC is pretty disappointing. On top of that this game’s replayability does suck, it’s nowhere near as playable as the first two. Still a decent game for what it is though.

Out of all three, Miles morales had the best replay for me and side missions, but the worse story, while SM 1 had the worse gameplay out of all of them and transversal is boring for me but the best storyline that I never can get tired of. AND the missions are well paced and fun (except for mj) Each game has its strength and weaknesses. Spider-Man 2 has the worse replay, and side missions, but a great transversal, combat, and suits. And gameplay is perfect.

Got a PS5 for Christmas 2023 bundled with SM2. Beat the game in a month and haven’t touched it since. I told myself I’ll replay it when there is DLC so it can feel fresh again… looks like it’s gonna be a while!

At least the crime system is more varied and spread across a whole city. Do wish they were more involved at times like the first one though. Miss the more difficult car chases and mashing buttons to lift/toss the cars. We need a hangout system for Peter and Miles too. Yeah you can see them drop into crimes together and high-five or hug afterwards but I wish there was a spider-lair where they can hangout and play some weirdly thought up homemade games together or something. I basically forget there even are other main characters in Pete's circle when I'm just on and messing around in the city. We need stuff for Peter to do, not just Spider-Man. If they gave us Peter's bike riding in the open world without using bugs and just had us delivering pizzas that would be something. Can already hear the easteregg dialogue for the SM2 game, "Glad I still had my old bike, I can't even imagine trying to swing around the city to deliver all these... they'd be ruined for sure."

It’s a fantastic game. Probably the greatest spider man game ever made. At least in my own opinion. That being said, Insomniac hasn’t done the best job at making the game worth playing past your first or second play through. But at this point most of their employees are focused on the new Wolverine game. So you can’t really blame them that much.

There are no DLCs because it would've mainly explored:
1. Black Cat's relationship with her girlfriend.
2. Miles' deaf girlfriend and her daily struggles.
3. MJ side missions.
And somewhere within the team of developers and creatives, the ones who still love Spider-Man would refuse to have those DLC stories made. So it was either those or nothing at all. And it looks like we've won, actually. Because we've got nothing. It's better to leave the game as it is(I don't think I need to explain why).

How it will work in my opinion:
After you collect all the spider bots you get given a device from the lady and if you use it anywhere on the map you can run in.
What happens when you run in:
It looks like the one from the movie but when you enter you can unlock way more spider verse skins and you can fight spider man 2099 and get chased by all the spider men.
How to unlock the suits:
Every spider man you defeat you get one spider token you can use those to unlock the suits
The suit ideas:
The suits would be : man spider-with the ability to get 4 more arms during combat-,spider-man classic -the cartoon spider man-.
Skills:
There is only one skill but it is activate the portals and fast travel anywhere-found at the end of traversal.
Side quests:
Green goblin lets loose from the portals you make it has a 1/20 chance of happening but once it has happened it won’t happen again.
We arent even getting a DLC...wow

Gameplay wise, I have to give the game a 9/10. Only thing I didn’t like about it was that the combat didn’t feel as weighted as the first game. In the first game, the kicks and punches felt like they actually had weight and effort behind them, kinda like in the Batman Arkham games. The combat in the second game, and even in the Miles Morales game, didn’t really feel like that. It’s very clear to see that Insomniac went for a more super power based combat system with the Symbiote and evolved Venom combat. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I think it gives the game a more unique identity and does a good job of separating itself from the comparison of the Arkham games. However, I feel that because of that, it sorta tanked the natural punch and kick system that made the combat in the first game feel really special.
Story wise, I think the game is a 7.5/10. The story in the 2018 game packed a harder punch, probably due to the fact that they had actual Spider-Man comic writers on the team. I heard somewhere that in this game and the Miles Morales game that new writers were brought onto the project as their first gig at Insomniac. If that is the case, then I feel like they kinda fumbled the ball there. I understand wanting to give inexperienced writers a chance to flex their chops and improve their ability by working on a high production game, but for a sequel to a beloved game that people have been waiting years for? Yeah, you’re kinda throwing a pet goldfish into shark infested waters on that one. Needless to say, I still liked the story, I felt like it definitely had heart and effort put into it. I loved the dynamic between Miles and Peter, I loved Peter and MJ’s relationship, and I loved how Peter and Harry were at odds because of the Black Suit. I also really loved the close-knit bond that Spider-Man had with the people of New York in the side quests, even if the writers were inexperienced, they still got the characters and understood what they were all about. I also really liked what they did with Kraven and Martin Li, it really felt like a “tying up loose ends” kinda thing. The Black Suit and the Venom Arcs, though? That was extremely rushed, and really felt like Sony put the pressure on them just because they knew the game would still sell since it had Venom. I still enjoyed what I got with those arcs, they still felt like they had a lot of quality in them, I just wish I got a little bit more of them.
Overall, I still believe that this game succeeds as a sequel, it may have its flaws, but I think it shines high more than it falls flat. Feel free to disagree with me, obviously not everyone is going to like this game, or even have the same reasons as me why they like it. But I still believe that this was one of the best games 2023 had to offer, and personally, it was my Game of The Year.
It’s a good game gameplay wise, but I prefer the original one from 2018 as a full package. The Story is 10 times better and the gameplay was the foundation for the sequels.

For example, the Sandman fight at the start, that really set the tone for me that this was going to be more superhero-esque compared to the first game that was more technology based with its villains. Yeah Kravens hunters use a lot of tech, but he himself is more practical with everything. We got a little bit more depth with each of the villains in this game as compared to the first game. Sandman’s daughter, Mysterio trying to be a normal person, Martin Li trying to be better, Kraven wanting to go down fighting. And, to a lesser extent, Harry wanting to do his best to make his dream come through with Venom.
If I could make a good comparison for the first game and second game, It’s that the first game is more like a Spider-Man movie where the main focus is just Peter, Miles, and MJ as the main heroes and Doc Ock and Norman as the main antagonists. While the second game is more like an animated Spider-Man comic, that gives each character a little bit of time in the Spotlight.
I agree. I love the apocalyptic vibe the symbiote segment was going for but it didnt really feel fully fleshed out. The kraven bit was sick as hell though and you could feel the tension whenever he arrived
@@continental_consumerRight, the game had some really great moments in it, such as the Kraven boss fights. But I do understand the critiques of how they got to those moments was definitely rushed. Immediately after we get rid of the symbiote, it attaches itself to Harry, he kills Kraven and we’re jumping right into wide scale city transformation with the residents turning into Symbiotes. While I definitely enjoyed the story beats, it was still one segment after another with very little breathing room.
But the narrative was still enjoyable: The heart-to-hearts Peter, Miles, and MJ had when everything came crashing down, Peter trying to do whatever it took to save Harry from Venom, and the ending scene where Peter takes a step back for a while as Spidey while Miles took the reigns in his place, so he could focus on rebuilding the EMF and settling down with MJ. All of those are very powerful scenes, it’s just that Insomniac rushed into them so they couldn’t fully send the payoff that the moments deserved. Those critiques are ones that I heavily agree with.
But one critique I won’t agree with is the “Peter was nerfed” critique. I did notice that he wasn’t fully at 100% compared to the first game, but there was also plenty of moments that showed he was on his A-game: When he caught the Hunters arrow without even looking at Coney Island, when he saved both Harry and Tombstone from the burning building crumbling down on them, when he 1v1 Scream without the Black Suit, and all throughout the Wraith sub-plot.
To me, that showed Insomniac didn’t neglect Peter’s strength. It’s just the character himself was extremely stressed out from the responsibility of being Spider-Man for so long and had trouble focusing at times, that’s all.

Asking the last time I played it doesn’t have an accurate answer. I fire it up all the time to swing around, but it’s for maybe 15 minutes. The physics aren’t wacky enough for me to constantly want to explore them like say, a GTA game. Once you beat the story, Miles and Wraith are the only assist you get, with Wraith always seeming like she doesn’t want you around. The crimes just don’t last long. The enemies are far too easy. Mindless symbiotes, stupid thugs, or animalistic Kraven minions. I want to play in the Peter/Venom rage I got to experience for about couple minutes. I don’t know what I’m trying to say. I fire up DBZ games because I can absolutely destroy enemies with full control. Not just pressing triangle and circle at the same time.

My Guess is winter Holiday or first quarter of the year. We have to remember Insomniac is not an independent studio and part of the PlayStation family. PlayStation Has the final say on how things get pushed around and with concord being a big blunder and the hacks, It would make sense for them to release something first quarter to have a good market cap to start off the year

They sold around 10m copies witch is LOWER then first game (How is that not a flop if your next game sells worse then first one?) That's why DLC were cancelled. While every point you made is valid, I think the reason Spider-Man 2 is more forgotten about than Spider-Man PS4 is not only because of the execution of the story, but more of the replay value in the gameplay. Crimes are random now when the first game had different types of crimes for each district to 100%. We still to this day don’t have Symbiote surge customization to where we can surge into any suit, something fans have wanted since launch. While the main campaign for both of the main titles are similar in length, the lack of post game content is transparent in Spider-Man 2, and I’m not even talking about DLC. Spider-Man 1 had lengthier crimes, lengthier side missions with a much smaller map. Although Spider-Man 2 added Queens and other districts, the side missions are much shorter. The game goes by in the blink of an eye. That combined with the lesser resonating story makes this game forgettable for many players, even hardcore Spider-Man fans like myself. I had never been so hyped for a video game before. I got the collectors edition. And overall, as fun as the game was initially (and still is), I just don’t find myself going back and playing it like I did with Spider-Man 1.
Well honestly the main thing is it just should have been a better game the story is mid if not worse, Peter is objectively nerfed and is the damsel in distress in his own game almost getting killed having to get saved every five minutes, miles is barely in the game you play as him a few times in the story,the symbiote arc is too short, venom is completely mischaracterized, anti-venom is damn near pointless cause peter couldn’t even beat venom in 1v1 with anti-venom even tho that is literally venom’s weakness but he somehow got choked out despite all he has to do to hurt the symbiote is just touch it, mj missions are still here and insomniac even doubled down on it saying fuck the fans and I can keep going but this comment is long enough

I like both 1 and 2 but I always thought 2 was missing something the first game lacked. The first game has the better story and stealth while the second game has better combat and web swinging, so I really can’t decide which game I might like better

Damn this game really is dead man. Compare the first game, this didn’t live up to the expectation I wanted. It didn’t have the longevity the first game had. And the reason was 1. the gameplay 9/10 it feels the exact same as the first. The combat don’t have a lot of varieties to it, no button combinations/ u can’t double perfect dodge/ no environment takedowns/ u still can’t double/triple finishers on enemies which is absurd. Heck even with the black suit, u can’t even morph into the suit and u can’t do more than one finisher. This is why im saying it didn’t have that longevity.

Well the game will be 1 year old next month from what i remember, and also yea it kinda sucks there's no DLC, but i guess that's because Insomniac games might also be worked up, i mean they're also making Venom game and marvel's wolverine game, so it kinda gives a point, altough they could at least give small words on what's going on but yea it is what it is, altough they might suprise us in future

Since they'll probably make a PC Port in the future my guess is that they're delaying it to when the PC port releases so that PC players also have to buy the DLC separately, and not have the DLC included like SM Remaster

I still play this game on a regular basis. I've played this game about 5-6 times already and will definitely buy it when it comes to PC, since I don't really like playing on console.
The game costs $99 in canada and $115 after tax, its lowkey a scam and the story is literally only 15 hours
I got rdr2 for $20 and the story is 50 hours and spiderman 1 cost me $10 and the story was 24 hours long
Not defending Spiderman 2- it's a boring ass game tbh. But RDR2 is a 6 year old game. Of course it'll be cheaper. Plus, Rock Star makes their environments feel alive and bustling. Insomniac's NYC felt dead and barren.

I replayed spider-man ps4 about 3 times on ps5 and ps4. Spider-man 2 was so boring story wise. The venom powers and swinging was the only fun part lmao
Imo Marvel's spider man 2 DLC might be shown on some other event, if not, players might lose all hope, and leave the game to rot in atoms, till it will revive once it releases to PC and players will get their hands to make spider-man have big booties (u know what i mean), and also i kinda am thinking they might be worked up too, because they're making the Venom game, marvel's wolverine, and perhaps that's why things are so slow, and yea don't take my words too serious it's just how i see things
Insomniac might have been told by Sony to hastened production on the third entry. Look how quickly Sucker Punch announced a new Ghost title. It's been 10 years since any follow-up to their last IP (Infamous) but it didn't make the news like Ghost of Tsushima.
? It's been 5 years since ghost of tsushima, it'll be 6 years by the time ghost of yotei comes out. Plus if gjost made a bunch of money and people loved it why wouldn't suckerpunch put all their resources towards making a second game?
With that gap of time, its possible they are planning a stand alone release. Something the bridge the gap to Spider-Man 3.

What is this, Spider-Man 2 is a single player game, you play it, you finish it, replay it if you want and that's it. This is not a live service game, the game is complete.

Okay, here's the brutal honest truth. Sony, I love you but you're greedy. When they release a game only to new gen consoles like this they strip away a good portion of their sales. Not everyone even has a new gen console still and probably wont for a little bit. I myself was raised on the perspective of waiting until things develop more, these days they always need time to perfect a new gen system. Why they didnt release this on ps4 is beyond me.

Nah I like the gameplay and that’s what brings me back to the game so no, not completely dead. Like other ppl have said casuals prob get bored after 2 months but it’s still being played for me to this day. I admit insomniac def weren’t as consistent with communication as they were during spm ps4 but that’s bc yes they announced DLC way before launch but since they didn’t announce DLC they don’t need to update anything. Everything else is just a bonus after NG+

I just bought it 2 weeks ago this is my first time playing Spider-Man in a long time since the 2018 version. I really don't bother me at all because it's not an online game where you can do multiple things online and receive updates. But I can't go back and play it as many times as you want when I feel like it ain't nothing else to play. But all in all I'm taking my time with the game though so. I like it so I'm still on Grand theft Auto v and I will be on Grand theft Auto 6, I'm just going back to five and six stop complaining.
