    Happy Birthday Ian! You are a smart guy because I learn something each time I watch! Roll safe on all that snow/ice out there!

      Thank you! Thankfully now I’m in Arizona and it’s warmed up quite a bit

    Frozen winches are the worst. I finally invested in a blowtorch after my last load from Washington state. My shoulder still hurts from mallet hammering every single one of mine into place. I'd recommend RV antifreeze for your tarps because it helps to keep them a bit more foldable. Safe trucking.

      I’ve been looking for a blowtorch but every Walmart I’ve been able to stop at is sold out or doesn’t carry them lol. Luckily it’s warmed up a bunch lately, hopefully I can find one before it gets cold again

    You should use a racket starp for your x starp. Welcome to flatbed in the winter

      Yeah I think the hand ratchet ends up a lot neater for x straps

    Thanks Ian… Happy Birthday dummy! 😂. Great vids dude. I’ve been with melton off trainer truck for 3 months now. Learned a bunch from ya. This video made me laugh. I was in Kentucky smashing winches and my landing gear was frozen to the concrete on a pre-load. The job before I was getting poured on and straps didn’t have time to dry. I was literally folding and feedings straps like tin foil. Yah…It was -0

    If you stay on the road whats the max days you can take off bro? I heard for every 7days you get on day off

    • @ianelbert
      @ianelbert  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One day for every seven you’re out, and then an extra day (or $200) for every 3 consecutive weeks you’re out. You can choose to take the $200 bonus every 3 weeks, or the extra day off. If you’re out for multiple weeks tho and you need an extra day or two to take care of stuff at home they’ll most likely be okay with that

    How wide do you turn to make left & right turns with those spread axels ? I know it’s not like dry van

    • @ianelbert
      @ianelbert  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The only dry van experience I have was from CDL school, but from what I remember it’s almost the same. If you can understand how to make turns in a van trailer then you’ll be able to make whatever small adjustments you need for the spread axle. One thing I do know is a spread axle takes longer to track behind you and straighten out after a turn, so you’ll need to take wide turns like normal, but also stay wide for longer to allow the trailer to get behind you again. Hopefully that helps and makes sense lol

      @@ianelbert okay I gotcha I got the idea of what you mean, thanks. I’m in cdl school now & I’m set up to come to melton in a week so was curious about how to turn with the spread axels . Thanks
