Question for you Rex; I'm wanting to come to Prime however they're only hiring teams out of CA. Is there a list or board of other potential students that are looking to find a team member?
Rex, you will be an awesome trainer. I trained for eleven years with JB Hunt in the nineties. I 😮was blessed to have excellent drivers. I pray that God will bless you with really good and safe trainees. God bless you and your family.
@jeffreycrowther1374 I have a '22 Kenworth W900 with alot of extras and my payments are $1093 + tax on the 15th and last day of each month. The only thing I will say is that when pulling anykind of van trailer, I'd prefer the aerodynamic trucks. Just not at that price.
The co I used to work for - you would come to work and SURPRISE! We got a new truck for you-transfer all your gear as fast as you can cuz you have an appointment in 1 hour. All we would have time for would be to rip all out stuff out of the old & literally, throw it in the new & haul a33 to your appointment. And we would have to install geat & settle everything at home. !
@UCaxbAm0rDuf6s6xNukn352w morning my friend. Absolutely that would be great. I spoke to my recruiter about 2 weeks ago. She said I need 6 months experience first.
Good luck Rex! Can’t wait to see the next video to hear your thoughts on this move. My hats off to you sir, I couldn’t be a trainer doing OTR , I trained guys locally on tankers, but it was just how to load and unload, they already had their CDL. I can’t imagine trusting a newbie to be in the driver’s seat or living in a truck with someone else. Hopefully it works out for you, and hopefully you will be able to see your home/family often. too bad they stuck you in an International, they suck compared to a reliable Freightliner.
Check the inline fuse in your cb powercord. The fuse might be blown. In the International LT I always hit my head on the cabinet above the driver seat😅 and watch out when you park, as soon as you set the tractor breaks, the doors automatically unlock… annoying. Good luck becoming a company/trainer.
Fuse was good on old unit, had issues with it for awhile. Sure a cb shop can fix it for cheap just didn’t have the time so ordered a new one instead lol
Congrats bro! I saw someone else driving your mid roof by the tractor shop a few days ago and I was so curious as to what happened or if you left. Good luck with everything bro!
Wow. If you're helping put the company, they should reimburse your tire fund and at least part of the built up bonus. Good luck. I'd push them to give you a brand new Freightliner or Pete do you have plenty of room for you and the trainee. I ran an international for a bit and you can't even sit up straight in the bunk... Best of luck brother
Think I just saw your new company truck in Minooka. It's like right by the gate. My first time at minooka terminal. Had to park as I only had 20 minutes left. Gotta head to tip top Minnesota by Monday appt. Gonna be cold. I still want to try tankers. Tankers stay busy? I hate climbing on top of loads(flatbed). I'm getting old and my body not like it used to be. I'm lease driver and not sure how I'd pay truck payment if I wanted train as tanker..
Good luck with new endeavors….couldn’t they even give you a freshly detailed truck ….that thing is dirty ….will you be a company guy now with no payment on truck ????
I wouldn’t mount that on upper part of the dash. Nfi tractors they like yo mount the Trimble tablets. After a month or two. They pull the trim out, warps the plastic
Get well soon! Guessing business remains down and Prime keeps the company drivers moving to make sure their trucks are generating $ before giving loads to lease drivers? Whatever the reason for your switch, wish you the best as company driver and trainer.
Congratulations on being able to train rex! I have a few questions Did prime charge you to put back the screws that they took out for the antennas, and did they charge you for the issues on your new truck that were not your fault (Probably not, but I am just curious) Be safe out there! Cant wait for more videos!
At first, I was kind of shocked that you’re doing company and got the international. I thought you were going to purchase a new truck, but I read one of your replies to someone that seems like you’re trying to buy a house. Your explanation about the house purchase, makes great sense. Good luck with your future endeavors.
There went your “speed” and freedom. Your radio issue is a fuse in the dash. You’re in an interTRASHional, shelling parts across America’s highways (the most broken down truck.) 😂😂😂 good luck
What’s the difference between what you were doing previously and a company driver? Beautiful truck too. Does this mean you won’t be making deliveries anymore and mostly training?
When I trained as a lease operator “I was paying the trainee out of my paychecks not prime” also if I were to break down in my lease truck. Not only do I pay for the tow bill, repair bill I’m on the hook to pick up the hotel bill for both myself and the student. So it’s smarter to train and be a company driver aka W2 employee. So I’ll actually get paid to train now and be responsible for ZERO hotels if I breakdown or repair bills on the truck. Less stress for me!
Is going into teaching going to be a huge pay cut? Also does this mean that the videos will probably stop? I assume students wouldnt want to be recorded
I'm going to be honest. My take away from this is...if YOU CAN'T make it as an L/O, most to not ALL people can't make it as an LO. At the very least, most of us should realistically expect to fail going through w/ Prime's LO program. Is that a fair assessment?
I drove my 2022 International LT for six months before I found the ties to hold the privacy curtain back. The LT has more room inside the cab bunk area than the Cascadia does. That strap that holds the CB in you’re going to have to constantly keep tightening it up. Oh the microwave strap too.
As a lease driver “I’m paying the trainee not prime” as a company driver prime pays me additional $ plus they pay the trainee. So for me the decision was easy 😊
Because they try to generate more revenue by running as a team truck. Probably more on the reefer side. That’s what I got from all the trainers I seen at prime. They run as a team truck so it benefits the lease driver cause they gross more in the week.

It'll be my 2nd day in tanker bootcamp here with Prime. Whew it's overwhelming for somebody with only flatbed expierence lol
Internationals are known to have electrical problems You may have blown the fuse that controls your Cb power so check that That happens a lot

Good call 👍!! If I lived closer to Nebraska I would definitely work with them. Sucks they don’t have a terminal on the east coast
Hate those damn curtains. In my cascadia I just take them down, fold them up, and toss them under my bunk.
Good luck with new endeavors….couldn’t they even give you a freshly detailed truck ….that thing is dirty ….will you be a company guy now with no payment on truck ????
Correct and now I’ll actually get paid to train vs lease I’m paying the trainee not prime.

Hope everything goes well. Does this mean way less content going forward since you will be training?
Rex rexster the ole rexkid ur a pretty busy beaver what next?
Just wondering why you end your lease? For someone thinking about making the switch to tanker how heavy are the hose
One good thing is if your truck brakes down on the road they will pay for a hotel room. My truck was down for a week and they picked up the hotel room
I’d rather lease than train after the crap that’s happened recently with trainees killing there trainers.
Is it worth just buying the truck outright instead of leasing it?
Is going into teaching going to be a huge pay cut? Also does this mean that the videos will probably stop? I assume students wouldnt want to be recorded
Prime owner ops- how much are you averaging for weekly revenue?
Rex am working at prime inc right now doing tanker and I wanted to switch over less. What your opinion?
Can you bring your own truck over to prime to lease on ?
Yes
International is the worst truck to train in. The space is so tight. Freightliner and Peterbilt have much more space.
I'm going to be honest. My take away from this is...if YOU CAN'T make it as an L/O, most to not ALL people can't make it as an LO. At the very least, most of us should realistically expect to fail going through w/ Prime's LO program. Is that a fair assessment?

hello Rex, can i apply from a different country .
Prime started having duals on their trucks now or that’s only for lease and lease purchase
If you bring your own truck to prime you can have duals or if you complete a lease purchase you can put duals on it.
Why do you went from leasing to company driver?
I drove my 2022 International LT for six months before I found the ties to hold the privacy curtain back. The LT has more room inside the cab bunk area than the Cascadia does. That strap that holds the CB in you’re going to have to constantly keep tightening it up. Oh the microwave strap too.

Prime must be paying you good to the point it made you switch to company simply to help them out
