    In his first foreign media interview, Malaysia’s new Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng told the South China Morning Post that the government will announce belt-tightening measures to rapidly pare down total liabilities of 1.087 trillion ringgit (US$250 billion) that ballooned during the tenure of scandal-tainted former prime minister Najib Razak. Eng is confident the government can “well maintain” the current budget deficit without further burdening the economy.

      Tami Tami An apek who made Penang a debt free state. An apek who found out the country’s debt before we plunge into bankruptcy like Greece.
      Meanwhile you sound like an apek that can only manage to have a finger workout on your phone.

      As Deng Xiaoping said "why do you bother whether a cat is black or white as long he's good at catching mice!". As Malaysians let's give our trust and best wishes to PM, FM, all Ministers and MPs from PH to get us out of this mess. We might be asked to bite plenty of bullets so let's do them for the sake of ourselves, our children, grandchildren and all our descendants.

      Tami Tami. You sir, are daft! What is the relationship between a person's intelligence and the way he speaks (as opposed to the contents of what he is saying)?? Just because a person speaks like an apek, he cannot be brilliant?? And just because a person does not speak like an apek, he must be brilliant??

    He is 100% brilliant for not being economic with truth. To stop all projects to reduce debts, any coffee-shop uncles or taxi drivers could also run the country. The real challenge is to go ahead with the HSR when there is little money. The HRS will take of some heavy traffic in the sky, +38 flights per day; will provide new transport capacity between cities in M'sia and S'pore; and will hence lower overall CO emssions. It is not clever to drop the HSR.

      Fah Kong not the right time and not priority now. Everything has its place in time depending on funds n importance.

    • @gp2779
      @gp2779 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      HSR costs 100billion. Someone actually calculated if 18,000 people bought tickets daily at the cost of RM200, we will need 160+ years to pay off the debt, that is when assumes that the trains will run without any faults and servicing charges are not included
      The HSR to be frank only benefits the Singaporeans. Most of the rail tracks are in Msia so naturally we will bear the heavy end of the construction cost. It’s only abt 10km of track in Sg. With the current currency rate (and perhaps in the future) why would any Msians want to travel to Sg that often? And tbh it offers less attractions (as compared to Msia) and everything is pricier over there.
      I can get a flight ticket at Rm80 on AirAsia instead of forking out Rm200+. It will only take 3 hours including checking in and the flight duration itself. I personally don’t mind the extra one and a half hour cz tbh it doesn’t affect me too much.
      Besides, Msian gov is now upgrading the KTMB tracks to provide the ETS service, that can run up to 160km/hour. It will only take 3 hours to reach to JB frm KL. So tbh not much difference and the HSR mmg is an white elephant project
      100billion construction cost (1/10 of our 1 trillion national debt) vs 500 million penalty. Which one you choose?

    • @jlcdrivewayramps7343
      @jlcdrivewayramps7343 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GP rail is definitely cheaper safer and more efficient than plane in the long run. . Why then would Japan have HSR nationwide. HSR in my opinion does have a place in Malaysia as it grows. It connects the west coast n Spore with 250km speeds. Except one problem. It is still not the right time. Have to wait for Malaysia to get stronger financially and get more developed first.

    • @gp2779
      @gp2779 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      JLC Driveway Ramps Japan and China has HSR nationwide because the resources and money is generated from their countries themselves. Malaysia, lacking of expertise in building HSR will need the help of China and Japan, as well as funding from China particularly. Moreover HSR in other countries stretch as far as a 500km. 300km is nonetheless too short and the time that can be saved via taking the HSR wouldn’t be as much as compared to usual rail or by flying.

    • @gp2779
      @gp2779 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      JLC Driveway Ramps It still doesn’t benefit Malaysians. Except if the HSR can extend from North to South of Malaysia, covering the whole West Coast of Peninsula.

    We need the East coast rail to urbanized these state. While the HSR will generate M$600 billion. (M$500 billion in TRX, Bandar Malaysia, redevelopment of 6 towns & East Jurong 2nd CBD plus M$100 billion for the rail link).
    Cut ministry expenses, main is Education, Health, Home & Defense = 1.1 million of the 1.4 million state employees.
    Cut headcount, transfer services to private sector will reduce state expenditure without dire effect on the budget.
    Convert the education loan into a public enterprise. All student loan must be recovered. It will increase state debts otherwise. Limit loans to deserving students only.

    @kongthai.. 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    State debt = Country credit.
    Managing credit levels. But MoF Lim Guan Eng seems confused about this.
    Malaysian credit in 2018 is composed of 1. State or GLC m$1 trillion, 2. Public Companies m$400 billion. 3. Forex exchanged with Bank Negara m$450 billion, 4. Middle class & worker's debts m$850 billion, 5. Currency printed by state m$100 billion.
    That's the m$2,800 billion in the banking & financial assets.
    Managing credit levels is the function of MoF & Bank Negara to manage the economy using fiscal levers.
    Minister Lim constant harping on debt is strange. He think he is still an opposition leader and looking for scandals.

      Tami Tami well wouldn’t that mean that Mahathir needs to be investigated too gasps. You might want to ask Tun to stop crying too because he also partly contributed to the national debt indirectly.
      Stop being a hypocrite.

      Look at the current situation in Singapore. Most Singaporeans are struggling to make a living. I have lived in Singapore before and the people's quality of living here has massively dropped from the first time I visited Singapore. How can you mention that Singapore is the right subject that Malaysia should follow? Do you know that Singapore has currently owing full of debts and look into Temasek Holdings reports on losses, these money are contributed by Singaporeans hard-earned money through CPF. Singapore is just an underdog of the US (to be honest; frankly speaking), and yet the Obama-era has ended and now Trump comes in, and you know what I mean. Plus, looking into the current situation of Malaysia e.g. abolishment of GST, reducing civil servants' pay, reducing taxes, Singaporeans also want to do that as well. Many Singaporeans are struggling to make a living. And if Malaysia now to learn from Singapore, we will be driven to nowhere. Please stop boasting that Singapore is a clean and successful country. Yes; it was during the LKY era and I personally salute him.
