[FULL] LGE: Arul Kanda is “utterly dishonest and untrustworthy”

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng on Wednesday lambasted 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) chief executive officer and president Arul Kanda Kandasamy, stating that he is utterly dishonest and untrustworthy. He has also instructed his ministry’s legal advisers to review Arul’s position.

Arul's appointment was to rationalise 1MDB's debts only. He was not appointed as a director in a fiduciary capacity and hence, technically he cannot be held liable for fraud. Only the directors and shadow directors can be held liable for fraud. His contract of service has to be studied first before accusing him for impropriety.
