She is gorgeous! I totally agree, especially with the smell. I have dogs, but I don't ship them with my dolls, at least I do my best. You're right, I rather nothing but her wrapped in a nice blanket than what you received. As a seller it's our responsibility to try and make the box openings a great experience so that we keep the customers happy and wanting more from us. It doesn't have to be big just decent enough to show appreciation, and that our dolls are loved. Have a blessed day.

Hello, she's a beautiful baby, but I think the smell that you are smelling is a thrift store smell. She most likely didn't wash the items and just put it all in a box and close it up, so I believe the odor is probably the smell of thrift store. all of them smell the same, LOL. Yea, Sis, tell the truth, and same the devil. We spend so much time trying to spare the sellers feelings and only share disappointing box opening experiences with close friends and other dolly friends. Not only am I glad you shared your TRUE experience, but you should also tell the seller. I hear some people saying, "It's all about the doll." But box openings definitely matter! I understand how you feel. I would have been upset as well no matter how beautiful the baby is. I hope theirs no smell in the cloth if so maybe you can get some extra strength febreeze to spray it with after covering her limbs up. Then let it air dry. Maybe the disinfectant fabric refresher. I totally agree with you. It takes me a couple hours to pack a box opening, I’m a doll artist and been doing it for 4 years and I love getting my box openings together and the beautiful comments I receive from my customers about their box openings. Who would send old, dingy, smelly clothes with a baby, especially a prototype baby. If a seller is going to do that, just send the doll alone and go to Ross’ or or Burlington’s and get a brand new pretty baby blanket to wrap baby in. For some people like the seller this is acceptable because they probably don’t live as clean person.

I totally agree with your statements about the disappointing box opening. I've had a similar box opening from an artist. It definitely affected the bond at first. Sometimes less is better. The seller should have left the yard sale baby clothes at home. She definitely deserved a beautiful blanket to be wrapped in. All in all it's a lack of self respect and awareness from the seller as this is a representation. Hopefully the seller watched this video and will improve before their next sale.

Most grown ups don’t buy these expensive dolls to play with them. They’re works of art and the price reflects the amount of work, skill and talent that goes into them. Part of the selling and the presentation of these works is the clothing! It should also be of the highest quality and be a work of art in itself! Like hand made or knitted or the sort of clothing meant for royal babies! Some brand new condition vintage clothing is very nice and unique things in perfect condition but it’s an obvious line! Even with the box openings. Personally I find a lot of the items some people add to be so silly. Who other than maybe a toddler wants to give a doll a cheap looking sippy cup with fake juice or basic stuffed animals. If it’s something that’s high end and meant for making the doll look more realistic in photos? That’s great! But I just saw a video where someone got an entire pack of cheap disposable diapers and WIPES. Why wouldn’t you give that to someone with a baby who will actually use them!? 😂
I’d be annoyed too! They probably sold the nice items & clothes from their original box opening because some of the high end clothes they give along with the high end dolls are only sold in online European shops and very pricey. Then they probably got some free used baby clothes from a thrift store hence the smell, someone meant to give to someone who has nothing.
Why does a DOLL need a cheap sleeper anyway? Even the prettier dress would look better on a real baby. Personally I like the pretty delicately knitted outfits on reborn dolls such as what you ended up showing her off in! Dressing them up is fun (I’m more into the art of making them and painting them realistically myself even though I haven’t made any in a long time. Dressing them beautifully, then taking photos and making the most beautiful and fun box opening for the buyer would be the most enjoyable part for me! That’s why I like watching box openings! I’m thinking about starting to make them again and selling them. I think what you’d put in a box opening for people should depend a bit on the buyer. I think I’d try to find out a bit about what they like first. Regardless, using second hand baby clothing and dollar store bottles etc. is tacky, even if you’re selling to kids! It decreases the value of the art! And anyone who knows what goes into making even the most basic ones, knows you want to dress them extremely well! She’s an absolutely gorgeous and well made reborn baby!

Omggggg ... I Love your honesty! I posted about this issue on a reborn site before, and let's just say I didn't receive the same reaction as the comments you currently have. Some of the doll artists argued that we are paying for the doll itself, and all of the accessories (or extras) are just a plus..
And I understand that however, what they fail to realize is, they are not only disappointing their customers but they're damaging the integrity of their own business.
How can any collector or doll artist (with an understanding that these dolls are therapeutic) not understand the importance of a beautiful box opening? A mother who has lost a child (or incapable of even having a child) also loses the opportunity to experience a baby shower.... A box opening is supposed to be the baby shower.
We love and care on these babies! Some collectors even go as far as to take them out in public and have full role playing days with them like real children. So why wouldn't we want a real experience of new, pretty, fresh-smelling baby clothes to put on these very expensive dolls?!

The smell aspect would have sent me, I can not handle funky smells when it comes to these dolls and the price we pay for them. People are allowed to be disappointed, especially if a lot of money has been spent. Some of the things this seller sent were absolutely unacceptable. People are allowed to have standards of quality in situations when the quality doesn't match the cost. I say all this as a person with little finacial means. I thrift and use secondhand clothes. I don't own a single artist painted reborn. I buy replicas. If I spent that kind of money on a high-end reborn, the clothes better correspond with the colossal amount of money I spent.

I had something like this happen. Did a box opening exchange for a reborn group. Most has stains. A used cloth diaper our of the $100 box opening i only had about 6 items i could use. I was so sad. I never did it again.

I personally wouldn't send off anything with one of my collection dolls, no matter the size or the cost, that wasn't good, smell fresh or well done, or if it is the original outfit I would say in the listing and say how much I am deducting from my asking price if the outfit had been good, and then add something I made.

I got disappointed with a reborn baby girl that was made from a reborn artist on Facebook I returned her back to the reborn artist and got my money back that was 3 years ago! My big sister felt so bad for me she went and bought me the meadow kit reborn baby girl I named her after me Lynn Daniella then last Christmas mine father in law bought me a reborn baby boy I named him after my favorite actor Michael Landon & my favorite character Albert from Little House on the Prairie so his name is Michael Albert! I’m so sorry that happened to you! Box openings should smell good and be very beautiful and special for the person who is buying the reborn baby!!

I purchased a doll 5 years ago and it was the worst box opening I had, but I was new in the community. I think it gave me PTSD on buying dolls from strangers. The box opening was horrible. All the clothes were old, the doll and the clothes smell like wet dog. I tried everything I could to get the smell out of the doll. I ended up throwing everything in the garbage including the doll and I did not get refunded for it. I did put her on blast in the reborn community. But people continue to buy from her. So I kind of took a step back at this moment. I only owned 3 reborns but adore every last one of them. Love you videos, sorry about your box opening

That’s terrible and you should say who the seller is! Rather than throwing in some used clothing, it would have been better for her to leave them out and just send the couple of good pieces. I’d be so upset as presentation means so much. I bought a high-end reborn about three years ago and it still upsets me thinking of the crappy box opening, even though I love the doll. A nice, new, soft blanket makes all the difference. When I received mine it was in the summer and she came in a used Christmas blanket. I ended up giving the blanket to my dog. The reborn is beautiful so at least that’s good.

Absolutely beautiful baby. I’ve had a few bad unboxings and it’s been a mix of it ruined the doll for me. Glad in the end you are happy with the baby she’s really precious.

I am sorry that the box opening was disappointing to you. I am super glad that the reborn was in excellent condition!!! Did her cloth body freshen up completely? I would be upset if I had paid a high-end price for a reborn, and she came smelling musty. So, do you think that, as the buyer, we should ask about the box opening before buying the doll if it's not listed? Like some sellers say, what's coming home with baby. Some even say new clothes and some will say gently used clothes. Of course, NO Reborn should come home with dirty, smelly clothes.
Right!! I never had to ask that question! I guess I have to start asking!! But this seller knew better, when I went back to look at the sale ad, all the clothes she was dressed in was very nice. Looked nothing like these old clothes! She needs to a shame!’

Seena she is just stunning. I love the outfit you put her in❤. I had the same thing happen to me before too. I had to throw everything away it was so worn and stained and had dog hair all over it. I had to wipe the baby down and everything. I always send a nice box opening.

Oh gosh i can empathise as this happened to me recently too... beautiful high end doll from the second market but the box opening was horrible! Filthy very used non matching clothes , doll had to be cleaned , the previous mum had her 3 only weeks from the artist! And somehow managed to ruin her in that time... due to the price i paid i was very upset... and the poor baby... well it was like she had abused the doll...i just hope she didnt have biological children if thats how she treats a reborn baby....i felt so sad for the baby...but its so frustrating xx
