That’s a terrible point. Black History Month was made to recognize the generations of AAs & their accomplishments that they attained while struggling with adversity. Morgan is one of those ppl that likes to live in a fantasy world where everyone has been set up equally and in reality that’s not the case. It’s funny bc the main people agreeing with his point are the ones that don’t have to worry ab their history being watered down or completely skipped over.

The problem is having “identity” come before “ability”. People need to stop giving a shit about what someone is, gender, race, whatever - and start looking at what each individual is able to do. Unfortunately we won’t get there until people stop looking at identity first and foremost.

Luckily that backfired on him and gave Freeman another avenue of argument:
"Okay, what month is Jewish history month?"
      "Th-there isn't one."
"OH! Oh. Why not? Do you want one?"

For instance you have news titles like “Black man kills white man” or “White man kills black man” and so on, just driving the race war and making people think that the killing was racially motivated. I.e. putting the focus on the race while disregarding every thing else. So, instead of identifying people by their race, or assuming their motivations based solely on their race, we should judge them for the individual they are.

I completely agree with the “stop talking about it” angle. Let’s all just be Americans together and build the equal future people fought for, instead of maintaining the focus on things that divide us and grudges of the past. Remembering history is important to avoid making the same mistakes or misdeeds. But we have a tendency to dwell on the past and some people exploit it to try to gain an advantage, instead of pursuing the equal dream. This day, we are too fractured. We need to start learning how to focus on what brings us together instead of what pulls us apart. And to let go of the hatred started by people who are no longer alive.

@@porcodiomede1094 they're not "Ignoring skin colors" it's about refusing to use skin color as a separating point. News articles will always start a story with "a white man" this or "a black man" that. It brings separation for no reason.
Say if black history month we're replaced with a month that's dedicated to everyone's history. And appreciating and understanding every shitty and awesome thing of America's past. That way, a month that is dedicated to empowering people won't forever make people feel like victims, but rather, apart of a united county with a shitty past.
No, this doesn't mean forget about it. No, It doesn't mean to ignore it.
What it does mean is that we will never have equality if we continue being separated and bitter because of the past.
It's not a hard concept to understand if you keep an open mind.
If we lose the labels we'll lose the separation that goes along with them. That's it.

That’s my thinking. If we stop labeling us and saying, “a farmer” for example, instead of a black male farmer or a white female farmer, we just include everybody. I’m from Puerto Rico and here is not normal to say a female black police officer, we just say a police officer. Don’t know why in the United States they focus so much on those things. That labeling is classifying people differently. Recently in Puerto Rico we’re trying to be careful with how we refer to others because of their skin tone or gender, because of how much North America influences on us. They’re ruining that beautiful thing that we used to have where no matter what color or gender you have, you are just one of us.

Some people are proud so they include it, others think it's offensive. Basically, too many incredibly stubborn and entitled people clashing. When you go against one of these people they will try to ruin your life and exploit you. Then forget about it a week later when something else is "trending."

      Long story short, Media.
They point out differences to divide, create conflict, be it to get more clicks and views or some other agenda, doesn't matter.
People are people. The only issue I have ever had with anyone of any classification, is when they make that classification their entire personality.
Unfortunately, that media and division, is so ingrained in so many societies now (especially where they can make a point of it), that most people don't even realise it's a thing. Most people comply with it. One way or another.
