Kessler was small character in the actual comic. Listening to how he talks and his sadistic views/opinions, I think he’s supposed to be the accurate portrayal of Butcher from the actual comics.
They actually addressed this back in Gen V. Very brief but it got the point across. Hallucinations in the Boys verse when it involves a person. That person knows what the person having the hallucination knows thats why Alex kept asking Sam all those stupid questions. Bc those are things only Alex knows. And since he had no idea who sam was that was to make sure she was real. Kessler knows things only butcher ever knows and he only appears when butcher needs him to. Everyone ignoring Kessler wasnt the big giveaway. Its the fact that Kessler is saying things that Butcher has been saying since the series started was. He even talks like him every now and then

No, other people interacted with Marla. The waiter in the restaurant and the other members of Project Mayhem for example. Tyler was a delusion though. And Jack was suffering from severe insomnia and the psychological insecurity related to his gender issues. He sleeps like a baby and Tyler is nowhere to be seen when Jack is in group therapy. Marla shows up, Jack is attracted to her, but he doesn't feel like he is A Man™ so he cannot ask her out on a date.

In the comics, Butcher betrays his team and goes on a killing rampage, killing most of the team. Wondering if they will use this to justify his actions in the finale (if they end up adapting the ending)

For now we only saw 2 worms, a big one and a small one, his wife might be the small one and Joe the big one. I guess the bigger the worm, the bigger his devilish thoughts are.

I wish that when everyone(the viewers) kinda figured out that billy is hallucinating joe MM would come in a scene and be like “hey there Joe”. That would have been a better scenario in my opinion.
Being obvious doesn't make it bad. It's also a lot more interesting this way because it's Billy battling his own inner conflict. He came up with the idea to kidnap and maybe kill Ryan but opted out. He's the one conjuring the idea of mass genociding the Supes but grappling the reality. This is setting up Billy the villain in a way that feels way more organic and exciting to watch than him just being a complete cunt like in the end of the comics.

Joe seeing & talking to Becca being the thing to finally make Butcher realise he's basically been talking to the parasyte all this time was awesome. Jeffrey Dean Morgan's delivery of his lines sealed the deal in making this scene *diabolical*

I love how they represent the 2 things Billy wants and NEEDS to do in the story. Joe Kessler represents his drive to kill homelander. And his wife represents his drive to save Ryan.
