@@patron40silver Rock is a musical genre with lots of branches. Personally I think rock music is of afroamerican origin and it takes more than a distorted guitar to label yourself "rock". If you play rock you must incorporate the heritage from the rock music history into your own music - a culture which is not present in Japan. Japanese rock borrows certain attributes from rock music but is totally different in groove/feel "It don't mean a thing - if it ain't got that swing" Japanese musicians all gets lost in the technical aspects of playing instruments (speed and appearance) but lacks the fundamental understanding and feel for rock. Yoyoka is driven by her love for afroamerican music and she has done her homework. She is already (by the age of fourteen) considered one of the top 500 best drummers in the world.

Great comments at the end there I agree things have changed. used to be there was a perception that these artists we're just robots copying other artists who are actually creative and at one time maybe that was a little bit true, certainly no more. have a friend who refuses to watch any of the music we're enjoying now he insists they are just copying others. it truly makes me sad knowing what he is missing. And of course it goes without saying that there are immeasurable benefits to all of this
Japan and lots of countries turning out these young artists in droves that are so phenomenal that in the past we would not even have dreamed it it's truly incredible there's probably 10 or 12 drummers that I could name just off the top of my head that are also phenomenal and there are many more what's great about it is we can look forward to the future where they will all be rocking in their own bands. @@MikeDPlxztc Exactly, she passed them in musicality before she was ten years old and since her time in LA she has evolved even more by jamming with the best instrumentalists. The big difference is the feel and understanding of music where Yoyoka has been influenced by western music from the start while Senri and Junna are stuck in japanese fusion/metal. They are "midi click" drummers without the afroamerican culture in their repertoire. Its a significant difference in their sound that comes from what function the drums play in the music. Japanese drummers tend to sound like drum machines while Yoyoka makes her drum sing. That said Japanese fusion/speed metal have a ever growing audience round the world but will never be considered popular in a broader sense.
@@magnushallin3640 Junna did not start drumming until she was much older than yoyoka that's what it's amazing about her is that she picked it up so quickly and got so good the styles are different without a doubt Senri is a phenomenal jazz style drummer so I'm not sure what you mean there but again I agree they are all phenomenal. TH-cam clips can be deceptional and raise admiration for artists that is not really playing anything good but are either entertaining or digitally edited to look and sound fantastic. But I am not into TH-cam entertainment at all and only listen to live real drumming. Maybe thats why I prefer Yoyoka - her videos are all real...
