Wow, a shame that you had so many issues with the train trip. Sadly a lot of old infrastructure on the line and the train sets are getting very old. They are due to be replaced with new ones in 2026. But that being said, you have to experience the Bergensbanen during day time! Also, you did nothing wrong when you informed the conductor about the problematic passenger. The awful prices in the airports is in part because of Avinor using the major airports income (mostly Oslo airport) to fund the small rural airports around the country, especially in Northern Norway.
Very similar to England - the infrastructure is probably worse - we often get delays if it rains too hard or leaves are on the tracks. Was nice to do the trip in the day as we would of missed out on all the views! Yep - need to save for a couple of months to recover from Norway :)

A more direct connection from Sandvika to Hønefoss is planned, called Ringeriksbanen. This will shorten the Oslo-Bergen trip by an hour, and it will also provide commuter trains to Hønefoss. It would also free up capacity for local trains on the current line.
We paid for a bedroom has we had baby - didn't get that It was an overnight train that got stranded in the middle of nowhere for almost 12 hours... Ended up being on the train for 24 hours ride And a drunk guy got kicked off the train
