  • The Bergen Express running between Oslo and Bergen is quite a famous and popular tourism route for spectacle landscape view of Norwegian natures.
    On the other hand, a night train is also running in this route.
    The train includes 2 sleeper coaches and so, it would be a good offer to your long-time trip between the two Norwegian largest cities.
    The train departs at 22:59 Bergen and arrives in the Oslo Central Station at 6:20am. This should be very efficient for your trip.
    In this video, I mainly show an overview of the facilities of sleeper coach with some views from the window:)
    Cost of tickets:
    2,700 NOK (aprx. 307USD, 222GBP, 260EUR) for one compartment (2 adults and one kid, refundable).
    This price depends on your options and when you purchase.

    I enjoyed your trip from my sofa:) Nice coverage with well balanced footage of places inside and outside the train. May I suggest you use a different font for your captions - very unclear and difficult to read. If you want to give a voice commentary, even bette!

      Thank you very much for your comments and suggestions!! Really appreciate it and I'll change the font and color of subtitles for easy reading in next videos. Yes, I am thinking to add vocal narration in English to the videos (already in some of the previous videos, but Japanese, my mother tongue...). Again, thanks a lot!!

    Can't image the sky could be that bright at 22.59... That looks like the sky at 17.00 in Brisbane now (It's summer time here BTW)... I was thinking that Euro Truck Simulator 2 is wrong about the sunset and sunrise time. Now, looks like that team made the game pretty accurately in details.

    Hello!
    I am thinking on taking this train on the second week of July. Would I have enough light to enjoy the landscape?
    Also, I would like to know which side of the wagon has a better view and, when you choose the seat on the website, which is the sense forward.

    • @trainviewreports3939
      @trainviewreports3939  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thank you so much your comment and really good question! In the 2nd week of July, the sunset is around ten pm then still possible to see the view from the window. But, not so bright because it’s southern Norway, outside of Arctic Circle.
      At any side of wagon, you can see and enjoy the great views of Scandinavian highest point. Between Bergen and Voss, the train runs along the fjord and river and most of time, the river can be seen on the left-hand side if you travels toward Oslo.
      The most beautiful point would be after Voss till Geilo, which is the ski resort. Both side should be nice. But, the night train arrives this area around midnight, then the sky is dark even in summer.
      So, if you travel in round trip, either of them could be day-time trip, I’d suggest.
      Regarding the night train, the window of two-bed compartment (I slept in the video) faces south, it means the window is on your right-hand side toward Oslo.
      In addition, a cafeteria is supposed to be available now and then you sit any table at any window side with Norwegian “expensive” foods and drink:p
      I hope this could be helps. If you have further questions, please feel free to post it:)

    • @trainviewreports3939
      @trainviewreports3939  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thank you for your comment. At Bergen station, we are allowed to board about 30 minutes before the departure. When you trip in sleeper coach, you need to check in at the platform of Bergen station.
      Regarding the compartment, everything is ready for use, all you need to do is to get a key card from the train conductor in check-in.
      In the case of boarding from Oslo, not sure how to check in, but I guess we can do it at the restaurant carriage of the train.

    How much did the train cost?

    • @trainviewreports3939
      @trainviewreports3939  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thank you for asking me. For the sleeper coach, it costs around 1000 NOK (=100EUR) for one way and one bed in a component. So, you are supposed to share the compartment with other traveler. This price is standard. But, it depends on when you book it and season. If you do in advance, it will be a bit more reasonable.
      It is also possible to use the compartment by yourself, but it costs much (I'm not sure how much since I used it with my family).
      On the other hand, this train runs between Bergen and Oslo during daytime (no sleepers coach) and this is also recomendable so that you can see the fantastic view of Norwegian landscape as seen in my video at 3:40. Daytime-train is more reasonable (costs around 5-600NOK). Hope this helps.

    Why would you want to take a sleeper train that stops at 14 stations en route with all the noise associated with passengers boarding and alighting? Plus I have taken a daytime train and the scenery is spectacular.

      Thank you for your comment. I’m not sure if you’d agree, but in the first place, a night train is very special for me. Might be personal favorite from childhood. Definitely, as you comment, the sight along this railway is fantastic, no objection. On the other hand, if we take the night train around summer solstice, some landscapes are still visible even at night, I guess.
      Also, it is efficient to be able to move to other place while sleeping, I’d suppose. These are my opinions, anyway.

      @Eurobazz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trainviewreports3939 Of course you're entitled to your comments. However, having daylight outside must have prevented you from sleeping and 7.5 hours is not a journey time worthy of using a sleeper train. You didn't mention anything about the cacophony associated with 14 stops. I think you have realised by now that, while being a ferroequinologist, I'm not a lover of sleeper trains.

      @@Eurobazz The trains have very thick curtains suitable for Nordic summer nights. If you choose to use the curtains in the sleeping compartment it'll be dark. The train stops during the night is not a huge problem in the sleeping compartments, since those are almost only used by end to end passengers, so no one has any reason to be around your end of the train. The timetable for the night train is much more relaxed than during the day, so you'll pull very gently into and out of stations... And it's an electric train, so no noise/vibrations from engine when accelerating.
      However if you sleep in the seating area, you'll probably get disturbed by boarding at some point during the night, and other passengers will have their curtains open. Then again the population density between Voss and Hønefoss is very low, so you'll only have a couple passengers average at each stop between 1am and 6am. They do give you a sleeping mask to block the light, ear plugs and a blanket.

      Perhaps, spanish subtitle is optional and you can switch it off. From laptop’s browser, the location of spanish subtitles is adjustable if you prefer spanish. In this moment, these are only solution I can suggest, sorry.
