  • South Africa is my favorite country to visit. Between 2015 and 2022 I’ve visited the country 5 times and I can’t wait to go back.
Cape Town, my favorite place to visit, is a coastal city located in the southwestern region of South Africa. It is the second-most populous city in the country, after Johannesburg, and is known for its stunning natural beauty, diverse culture, and rich history.
The city is also surrounded by gorgeous beaches, including Clifton, Camps Bay, and Muizenberg, which are popular among both locals and tourists.
Cape Town has a fascinating history, including its role in the apartheid era, and is home to many museums and historical sites, such as the Robben Island Museum, which was once a prison where Nelson Mandela was held.
The city is also known for its vibrant nightlife, delicious cuisine, and wine culture. The Cape Winelands region, located just outside the city, is a popular destination for wine lovers and boasts some of the world's best vineyards.
Overall, Cape Town is a unique and exciting city with a lot to offer, from its stunning natural scenery to its rich cultural heritage.
If you are interested in visiting Cape Town, here is a 5-day itinerary of some of my favorite sites.
    Day 1:
Start your day by taking a scenic drive to Cape Point Nature Reserve, which is located at the tip of the Cape Peninsula. Take a hike or a funicular ride to the lighthouse at the top of the cliffs and enjoy the stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. Afterward, head to Boulders Beach to see the famous colony of African penguins that call this spot their home. Once you return to the city, take a leisurely stroll through the colorful and vibrant streets of the Bo-Kaap neighborhood, which is famous for its brightly painted houses and rich cultural history.
    Day 2:
Take a tour of Robben Island, the historic prison where Nelson Mandela was held for 18 years. Learn about the island's rich history and its role in the struggle against apartheid in South Africa. After the tour, visit the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, which is a bustling shopping and entertainment hub with a variety of restaurants, shops, and activities.
    Day 3:
Take a day trip to the Cape Winelands. Visit a few wineries for wine tastings and learn about the winemaking process. My favorite winery is Seven Sisters which is one of only a few black owned wineries in the country. You can also enjoy a scenic drive through the rolling hills and valleys of the region.
    Day 4:
Take the Hop On Hop Off bus to all the sites throughout the city. Including Table Mountain, where you can hike or take a cable car to the top.
    Day 5:
Visit Botlierskop Wild Game Reserve is a private game reserve located in the Western Cape province of South Africa. The reserve is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including four of the Big Five game animals (lion, elephant, buffalo, and rhino), as well as giraffe, zebra, hippopotamus, and many antelope species. Visitors can enjoy game drives, horseback safaris, and guided bush walks to observe these animals in their natural habitats. In addition to wildlife viewing, Botlierskop offers a range of luxury accommodation options, including lodges and tented camps, all with views of the surrounding wilderness. The reserve also has a spa, a restaurant, and a variety of outdoor activities, such as fishing and canoeing on the river that runs through the reserve.
I love Cape Town so much! My ultimate goal is to eventually own a small boutique hotel in Cape Town. Each time I return, I fall deeper in love with the city, culture and the people. I can’t wait to go back next year.

I enjoyed watching your video. Look like you have fell in love with Cape Town 😊. Have you visited other South African cities/provinces? South Africa is one of my vacation countries. It is a second home away from home and I enjoy visiting frequently. Like you, I also have goals to do business and even buy a second home. Just this recently, I did a road trip and explore other areas of South Africa. This opened my eyes to the culture and people. I also visited Zimbabwe. There are severla similarities between SA and US. Thank you for sharing your experience and look forward to more.

Thank you. I've been to Johannesburg and to George. I'd like to spend more time in SA next year to explore more outside of Cape Town and get a better sense of where I want to buy. Right now I'm leaning toward Hout Bay. 🙂
