Bruce Hornsby is a Great One. Songwriter, singer, and one of the greatest rock pianists out there.
80% of all rap/hip-hop music is sampled from other artists. I could listen to him play all day. The Steinway Piano's of the 80's are in my opinion the best made and best sounding instrument ever made. Even today, the quality you get is nothing like it was back then.
I agree with your first statement. It’s a shame, too. Idk why they call it “sampling”. Why can’t it be called what it is…..
Yeeeeesss!!!
What a great song and fantastic piano playing. Thank you Bruce Hornsby
I will forever thank God for music and Bruce for this
song in particular. Just amazing. ❤️🔥 the drum drop!!
The song is about black segregation in tge 60s
Great observation about how the keyboard and piano compliment each other. As beautiful as the piano is, I can't imagine hearing the song without the keyboard playing along. I also love how the drums are so simple, yet effective.
Bruce Hornsby is great, check out "Mandolin Rain".
Yes!!! It is pure perfection!!!
His pianoplaying is still like a drug, you can´t get enough of.....
The word sample is another word for theft basically if you don’t have your own talent then steal someone’s that does.
Mix up and then try to pass it off as your own to a generation that knows no better
Classic! Pls also check out their "The Valley Road" and " Mandolin Rain".
Enjoyed the reaction :) Good journey...Peace!
Thanks..glad you enjoyed it..thanks for watching
You felt it my friend👍✌🤘❤❤
Exactly the piano here is just sublime.
I love the music and dynamic songs of Bruce Hornsby, and his many contributions to other artists, such as Huey Lewis and the News, who recorded his song "Jacobs Ladder". The excellent piano accompaniment on Bonnie Raitt's song "I Can't Make You Love Me", and his own song "Walk In The Sun".
Thanks for the suggestions
He also played piano on Don Henley's "End of the Innocence"
Bruce Hornsby is my all time favorite person in Rock and Roll, as a musician and as a personality. Seen him live on MANY occasions, with The Range and with the Grateful Dead, both as an opener and as a member. Another great tune from Mr. Hornsby is "The Valley Road".
sampling songs shows mutual respect and opens the door to different style of music and culture..breaks barriers of class and color...fu ckin respect
I agree
There's sampling then basically using the whole song with a few lyric changes, which 2pac did
I put Bruce Hornsby's piano playing talent up there with Billy Joel and Elton John - and you can't get better than that! Yeah, this song is one of my most favorite songs of the 80's. Epic! And the message is so important - "That's just the way it is, some things will never change - BUT DON'T YOU BELIEVE THEM!"
Love this song!
When people say Tupac 'sampled' this song, do they mean he stole it?
If Bruce didn't get some serious royalties, yes.
This is about racism down south in. The sixties
The message applies to today
Racism Still exists
No this is States of Mind. Racism, segregation, discrimination are in everywhere. You have to freed your mind for yourself and you could see who’s the problem. You or the rest of the races.
Some people are using those States of Mind as a weapon, Head of States, politicians. Too many ignorant people in this world, too many people who doesn’t wanna read books, no newspaper, no news TV, BOOKS.
While you are fighting each other, many millions of immigrants coming from overseas and living and working in America. Just look around you what do you have and what you don’t have. Start to educate yourself and you are going to see the light.
Such a good song, and good message.
What good message? I missed something.
@@ratdad48 Obviously.
Was the message that some people make informed, intelligent decisions and bust their asses to get ahead and accomplish things opposed to mostly the lazy ones that think the world owes them just because they exist
It was about racism
Which is now more blatant
Because some want to keep others back because of their Race
No change
tupac whole version is a remake of this basically.
Song still so relevant!
His fingers were anointed by God!!! He is brilliant!!!
Grew up on this classic. Thx for this great song.
This is such an iconic song by Bruce Hornsby with such tasty piano work. Credit belongs where credit is due, and sampler's should fess up.
Sampled is a nice word for remake. Both versions send a great message. The piano skills are pure talent.
A lesser known song if you want to hear Bruce really work the piano is "Spider Fingers". It really gets it.
If you wanna be blown away by crisp headphone sounds, do Snarky Puppy - What About Me? It’s a collection of top notch musicians. Drummer is top 5 ever. Everything thing they do pushes boundaries.
I grew up in the 1980s and I think we got along better back then but I know we had some stuff wrong
I know this group in te 80’s… From Argentinaaa !!
A Very Classic al SONG!!
Some things you have just let go, move on and work on your Dreams.
This is a "Clinic"!
