I usually use tinters within the formula and tint based on percentages so I know exactly how much to put in after I finish tinting it. Ex. If there was 30Grams of black in that formula, that would need imo 10% more black. I'd add 3grams more. And if it matches I know for future refence the formula only needs 10% more black. I have a huge stack of spray out cards so I can quickly see with my own eyes which matches or what needs more adjustments cause like Brian said some models may match, some may not.
I am abile to do blends in pretty much any spot on a car and u wouldn't can't reali tell it was done but I've learnt a lot from watching ur vids thanks keep it up
Thanks Brian. This help me with the question from previous video for color matching on painting the door. For multi-color tri-coat paint with 2 different basecoat and midcoat colours how do we blend with existing panels so it would match with color on existing paint as the addition midcoat paint over existing paint would make the color darker and visible between new paint and existing paint.
With problem colors we send them to the BASF for them to do the color correction. 9 out of 10 it's a great match. I would see if your manufacturer offers this. Great video
Ah, glasurit one of them. They have this sensor that scan and match color, though with silver or metallic even the same formula will give different result in different hand
Dang I wish I could spray like you. It's not easy to achieve a great result but your skills are shining again here. Thanks for all your videos Brian, it's much appreciated down here in little old New Zealand. 🙏🏿👍🏻
My Opinion is, if you got some tough colours which are hard to match. I woulld cut out a small piece of the demaged part and send it to your technical specialist. So they can creat a new variant for you. Greetings from Germany
I use spray outs alot with sikkens and when I have to do what you did I do a spray out of the new formula I’ve made and right down what I added or left out for next time
Hello Brian. Wow that blend was a PITA. I think overall the car came out slick. It looks awesome in the sun. Great job on the weight loss and fitness routine. Enjoy your weekend in sunny Florida!
Reminds me of the last gen Celica 2001+ "thunder grey" and the Ford Fiesta ST 2006. Both had multiple colours similar but different shades. One paint code for the colour but there were several cars which obviously had slight variations... Also on the celica often the front bumper looked like it was a completely different colour to the body in certain lights. Nightmare...
showing the spray out of the whole hood was good information. Always look for the best breaking point for color match. Especially when the bumper cover goes up to the hood then it will all match.
Thank you Brian, for all the time and money you put into your videos! One question and anyone can chime in on this. I am painting a race bike with Rust-oleum Professional High Performance Gloss Black and would very much appreciate what mixing ratio and ball park air pressure would be a good beginning? I am using Acetone to thin and a basic hardener. I'm using a cheaper HVLP spray gun. I'm in northern Nevada and the air here is wonderfully dry. I am 69 years old and I build high performance motorcycles, but..... I have never used the spray gun and I am a newbie to painting. I'm already handicapped being 69, so a little help would be very much appreciated - thank you!
@@richardbartlett4075 1:4 (20% acetone 80% paint). You can use Xylene if it's really hot out to retard drying a little. Same ratio. If you thin above 20% the paint will run and dry blotchy.
Another great video Brian! dumb question but assuming a DIYer in the garage won't be able to adjust color match like you did without having tons of colors at their disposal right? or is there a way for DIYers to achieve a similar result?
If the factory still does it you can have the same paint from 55 gal drum but when it gets to the end it could be either a shade darker or lighter. So every car could be a shade different even tho its the same color
I desperately need help man . I have 2017 nissan rogue used nissan duplicolor k23 as in the car code , but the paint is no match . It's very bright and different . Didn't even bother putting a clear coat till I figure out what to do any ideas ???
Still rocking the first shirts stickers and keychain.... ill definitely grab a shirt or 2.. 👑 Brian... was mario there for the dv1 knockoff video? He gonna review the guns as well?
Yeah let’s not tint colors on the fly coat by coat 🙃 you’re basically blending and sending. In production you need to use sprayouts you can’t tint all 4 colors in the booth you would loose your mind. Also blending everything sure maybe works but when insurance wants a butt match on a tail gate and rear bumper your not guna be mixing on the fly unless you want a color that looks like crap
how can you make money blending the hood n Lf fender when only paid for rt fender n bumper...spray out test n match it in sunlight before booth 20 mins ...should be dead nuts..recheck when paper peeled back then clear.
Thought you had loss weight, well done you, im trying to, on weight, if get t- shirt will help me paint cars like you 😂 Brian Your amazon doesn't ship to the UK 🤦♂️🫤

Great video. I can’t wait to mix my own colors one day. With boats all my paint comes in pre mixed.
Cool vid buddy 👍👍 that turned out nice

Most the time we are adding as we go and the volume becomes less and less so its hard to keep track

Still sunny down here! Where is the cool weather 😍

About the blends did you sanding the door and hood before painting or you paint over the old clear coat?
we used to call adding a Drip or a Drizzle or a Glug or a Bloop....that is how we adjusted color.
showing the spray out of the whole hood was good information. Always look for the best breaking point for color match. Especially when the bumper cover goes up to the hood then it will all match.
I started painting because of you. Where can I send you pics of before and after?

Hi never used that paint before so i can give you an accurate reading but try around 2:1 then go from there. Thanks for the love! And good luck

Question for you, why do you tape up your clear coat cup with masking tape? Is that just to denote it's clear?
Great tips for blending!
The pps hard cup gathers layers of clearcoat overspray that can/will flake off into jobs.
so what would you add to lighten the color, for example the metallic beige? white toner, silver?
Add more silver white will make it look chaulky.

We ran into a 3 stage red. We had no chips. Shot it with the camera, best nat h was a bc/cc ..
This is a good one.. respect.
if you do a spray out card you can add it to a spray out card library
ABSOLUTELY
Thats what I said . ^^^^^^^
how much paint would you recommend and clear should I buy for a 1999 dodge ram quad cab trying do do a DIY on my entire truck
I would do a Gallon for both. The base should reduce to about 2 gallons, that should do 3 coats of base and 2 clear coats.
Brian...my master💯💯
Walcom paint gun what needle

How many ounces of reducer would be used when over reducing 70%?
20% over 2:1
Saw the coat almost touch the hood when you were painting. Need the eye protection with the clear coat. Do it for your family.👍
It might have ! 😇😇
4,5,6,7,8 15 coats!!!! 🤦 holy crap that’s a whole day base coat and flash time 😆
Where do you get your guns dude they are sick and how do you get your guns?
Still rocking the first shirts stickers and keychain.... ill definitely grab a shirt or 2.. 👑 Brian... was mario there for the dv1 knockoff video? He gonna review the guns as well?
Hell yea. Those shirts are OG. Will ask him if he wants to review them as well.
Can you quote a price to paint my Buick Grand National?

Music makes it look like a Muscle car.
Oh just a muscle man
Why not just do a sprayout card before you start applying color on car and avoid all that extra overspray?
Talked about this throughout the whole video
Bro the bird could take some few extra minutes before dooking on that front bumper...
how can you make money blending the hood n Lf fender when only paid for rt fender n bumper...spray out test n match it in sunlight before booth 20 mins ...should be dead nuts..recheck when paper peeled back then clear.
Watch the video again. We getting paid for everything but the driver fender

@@PaintSociety Oh I know watch all your videos. I can’t work above 75 because of my condition (can’t regulate heat) lol
