Came here after watching Guardians 3 and it's crazy how much of Rocket's origins in that movie were inspired by his original backstory, from Lyla to having a Walrus friend. Say what you want about MCU writing, but they know how to rework old dated ideas into a more modern style pretty well

I know some comic fans have mixed feelings on the MCU, but those people have to at least give it credit for introducing large audiences to great but unknown characters like this. Even I would’ve never even known who Rocket was if it wasn’t for the movies, but ever since the movies introduced me to him he’s been one of my all time favorite Marvel characters. It’s crazy how the MCU turned a relative unknown into a fan favorite almost instantly.
Moral of the story:
Marvel can get REEEAAALLY convoluted.
Still mad they "grounded" the Guardians. YOU HAVE THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE AND YOU STICK THEM ON EARTH!
I like how lazy the plot actually is. When just about every team on Earth has space (and even multidimensional) flight capability, losing one ship "traps" them all on Earth. Typical Bendis writing...
Love how they even pointed out that several earth heroes could give them a new ship but nope instantly shot down by Rocket saying they're too slow.
To be fair, even without Rocket's retconned history, Mantis: the *Celestial Madonna*, is probably the strangest of the Guardians of The Galaxy. Discounting the Original team, of course.

Even though Rocket's continuity is a bit wild, i'm surprised that there aren't any other solo series that dedicate to Rocket since because of his current popularity has sky-rocketed his appearances in Marvel's cinematic universe.

Diogo Forte Well considering that Fox owns the rights to the X-men (including Kitty), I'd say it's not going to happen
Well as for age differences. Prior to being redesigned due to the MCU, Starlord was usually depicted around his mid to late 30's. Kitty is at most early to mid 20's.
Also if The Mutants do one day become acquired by Marvel Studios, the previous human heroes (aside from Spider-) will most likely be pushed back into the shadows, in favour of the X-Men.
I prefer Rockets first origin story. Not sure why they've ret-conned it twice!

I actually prefer his second. His first was basically just one big Beatles reference lol.
The mental asylum plant stuff probably didn’t age well. But apart from that, I personally can’t help but love it! A toy manufacturer war with gun toting rabbits, ape warriors and killer robot clowns is such a delightfully bonkers and unhinged backstory for an already conceptually ridiculous character like Rocket Racoon.
I love the og rocket raccoon mini series. The whole weird planet of mental patients stuff really didn’t age well, but apart from that, there’s something so oddly charming about it.
The toy manufacturer war, the warrior apes screaming chin-chim-cheerie as a battle cry, the rabbits with guns, every villain trying to marry lyla, Wal Rus’s prosthetic lazer-shooting tusks, the whole gang flying off in the giant golden robot statue spaceship at the end etc etc. it’s all just such a delightfully bonkers and unhinged origin for an already conceptually weird character like Rocket Raccoon. Gotta give Bill Mantlo and Mike Mignola props for commuting to making the story as quirky and ridiculous as humanly possible.

I actually was a HUGE fan of the original mini series. Most hard core marvel fans that I know, don't even realize it exists.
I was probably one of the only people who knew rocket before the guardians of the galaxy. It is weird from going to the comic store and hearing "what who? Never heard of him" to "oh fuck yeah we have the latest rocket comic!".
Rocket is one of my favorite superhero on my list

In these past 2 videos, it certainly appears that the Guardians didn't form until fairly recently, at least somewhere in the 2000s, but doesn't the team date back to the 70s? What's the deal there?
I watched this cause someone at work compared him to Star Fox. I tried to explain his origin but I wanted get caught up on the latest back stories.

Funnily enough my first experience with RR was in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. His Arcade Mode ending is one of my favorites.
hey drake i think this has a lot of detail, editing, and research where it seems the history isn't so sterotypical first middle end...and i want to say this was a reallllly great episode and i see all the work this one took!

here were can do say that rocket was experimented by groot species and he was made to be this way and like they realize how was flexible creature so they use him to do their dirty work like kill or rob government or whatever, then one day groot say him in his cell and he felt sorry for him and let him free, rocket believing to be a trick refuse to come out where he starting having argument with groot to leave him a lone and make him stay and because of the argument some guards came and heard them and then they saw groot and they beginning to carry him away and try to kill him seen that he keep doing these things and those they just want to get rid of him but rocket saw this and felt sorry for him broke free letting groot to run with him following him. After that they found one of the ship and left the planet and hide out rocket knew he could go back and he knew groot would just get capture so he stuck with him soon they became friends and thats it
