This is why I love generals so much..
You can buy 337 Battlemasters for the cost of 300 Crusaders, so in a real battle where both players have equal economy it should really be 337 Battlemasters vs 300 Crusaders.

You wouldn't have this type of setup with the numbers of tanks involved though. The Americans would have composite armour, advanced training and a strategy centre and the Chinese would have the Nationalism and nuclear shells upgrades. With no upgrades and the extra tanks the Chinese would win.

I think part of it comes down to pot luck and part of it comes down to transferrable veterancy for the Crusaders - every time a Veteran Crusader dies, it gets to move the pilot to the next one, a privilege the Battlemasters don't get. But that depends on a player manually giving the orders. I think the winner would probably depend on which side was more focused with the micro.
Round 1 was a line and each tank fought one other tank while round 2 was unorganized and there was more freedom to move around and get 2 or 3 crusaders to fight 1 battlemaster, and vice versa, plus piolets

Chinese units have a Hoard Bonus, but as individual units they aren't as powerful as USA units. If you take one individual Battlemaster and one individual Crusader than the Curseder would win. On top of that, the upgrades that the Crusaders have (like advanced training, composite armor and the drones) wold give it an extra edge in battle. I'm certain that if ya had a single Fully Upgraded Battlemaster VS a single Fully Upgraded Crusader tank than the Crusader would win, but that Hoard Bonus that PLA units have is just incredibly powerful.
Pilots' existence is more than enough to make Crusader win without jumping into next Crusader because targeting AI in this game doesn't have priority of any kind - they shoot the closest enemy unit whether or not it pose a threat. And tank shell has huge damage penalty against infantry. So Battlemaster also wasted their time shooting at pilots whenever one emerged from the destroyed Crusader, so Crusaders got some free shots during that brief moment too. But seriously, whoever build Crusader, or Laser Crusader, in multiplayer is guarantee to lose! Everyone knows that Humvee is the best tank in USA arsenal, accept no substitute! The same applies to Battlemaster as well; China only use Gatling and Dragon tanks unless you're Nuke General, but Nuke Battlemaster is just a wannabe suicide truck that can shoot a few shots before kabooming in enemy's face anyway, funny that it worked better than GLA suicide truck.
I will problably remake this battle and give the battlemasters a target priority set (it is possible with scripting). I can make the battlemasters only target crusaders, and then we can see how the results changed. Thanks for the reminder ;)
@@Pablo-se9qx I find a humvee with either 5 missile defenders or 3 with 2 snipers better than crusaders. Works with combat chinooks too. The missiles shoot faster and snipers deal with infant better then the flying top lookin drones the crusader uses to self repair.
Crusader won due to Veterancy of reusable pilots, and higher health. Health becomes more important because the battle wasn't really in a straight line unlike the 50 vs 50 where the tanks actually fight against the 1 in front of them only.
i think its numbers really because the battlemaster have the bonus does not mean they will all ways win and since the battle masters cant get pilots too is another reason the crusaders have the upper hand
partly due to the fact that pilots from downed crusaders were jumping into others and then the fact that they had longer range so as soon as the battlemasters in front were killed the other ones were trying to path around them while the crusaders were plain and simply still shooting. not to mention the second that you single out a group of 5 battlemasters, if one gets destroyed the others lose the horde bonus. Pathing, pilots and attack range were all huge factors
While Battlemasters are better in large numbers if they attack together as seen in Round 1, they were unorganized in round 2 and didn't fully use their horde bonus effectively. China relies more on numbers, and usually fail if USA has the same amount (the 50vs50 is different story since they all fired simultaneously, which rarely happens) . That's why they are cheaper than most US stuffs. So what if USA had 11 surviving crusaders, China did saved $30000!

That pilot either becomes a target causing the battlemasters to use their ammo shooting at them, or the pilot enters a brand new vehicle giving veteran bonuses to the vehicle, increased hit points, damage and fire rate.
what if you try out the battle master with all of their upgrades and the crusaiders as well with their attack drones? still putting the money on the cusaiders since the vets retention is a plus in addition to the battle drones can repair when not in combat or the hellfire drones will do more damage. But that horde bonus from nationalism and nuclear shells isn't something to mark off.
In the last round, crusaders won because the battlemaster has equipped explosives which means when the battlemaster dies it will explode with an a mini mushroom cloud effect, the battlemasters are compressed to each other, when they die they explode which reduces the health of the tank that is close to the one that exploded, that's why crusaders have the advantage of decimating battle masters
Hello did you upgrade the Armor. Also if you give promotion they can battle to the last. Crusader tank is expensive the pilot got promoted he can escape. Also they can produce drones.
The veterancy itsef does not compensate for the +33% RoF of the battlemasters. The Battlemasters wasting shots at the pilots from the destroyed crusaders is what tipped the scales.
I think it was the concave formation the crusaders took throughout many parts of the battle. This results in a greater focus on each tank which eliminates more enemy guns more quickly then if they were spread evenly like in the first fight.
Since the dps was the same in the 300 v 300, the total armor count of the crusaders was 144,000 and the armor count of the battlemasters was 120,000. The more tanks both sides had in a battle, the more the crusaders' armor could overpower the battlemasters' horde bonus.
Pretty sure WW3 is just going to be a nuclear nightmare. If not it'll be all about air superiority, tanks will be nigh irrelevant against another world power.

Actually there was a few moments, when crusaders were standing as perfect wall, when china had to push by uneven lines, so that situation created some kinds of "focus fire" by crusaders, as result, china lost all their power approximately in the middle of battle

no, this fight represnts the tanks in their most basic forms, no upgrades and battlepans are active. I will remake this fight with upgrades and different battleplans to see how it changes the outcome.
Composite Armor increases the HP of Crusaders by around 40%. Nationalism doubles the ROF bonus for BMs though, from 25=>50%, but it's a 25% bonus in stats vs 40%. + 25% increased damage from Nuke Shells counteracts Bombardment somewhat(+20%) though. Nuke Tanks will make the BMs explode on each other. So it would be interesting to see the results.
Even if the Battlemaster tanks have the horde property, the Crusades drivers with their rank moves into the new just deployed to the facing of the battle tanks making them already with higher rank and boosted properties, while Battlemasters when they got destroyed, the just deployed tanks have to level up in order to match the ranks for the Crusades, hence matching their boosted properties.
The best way to settle it would be to make it a 1v1, but have 5 battle masters so it would gain horde bonus and making sure only one of them is attacking the crusader.
Division of firepower, the 25% group bonus loses dividends very quickly as 1 of every five tanks is destroyed. Perhaps the tanks take a moment to regroup and regain the bonus firepower, or remain spread while under fire and attempt to attack a more powerful foe. Either way, the time spent regrouping with divided fire is certainly one reason for the loss at equal odds. It is clearly seen that during this battle there is a definitive split into two distinct battles. The power gained in numbers, via bonuses is lost and the commanders gain the advantage.
This wasn't done on a normal match, I created this map on the World Builder tool that comes with the game, in this tool you can have scripts to tell what units do and how the game behaves, that's how I got the camera moving like that without mouse and no game UI.
Redistributed veterancy by pilots was the main driving factor in my opinion. I would like to see how the results change once both tanks are fully upgraded ( including the drones)
What do you guys think? Was it all by chance? EDIT: There's a mistake in this video, the horde bonus does not give 25% bonus rate of fire! It gives +33.33...%! The battlemaster and crusader both take 2 seconds to reload. But with the horde bonus it takes 1.5 seconds for the battlemaster to reload. At first it seems +25% because 0.5sec is a quarter of 2sec. But if we calculate both tanks rates of fire in rounds per second: Battlemaster: 1/1.5 = 0.666... rounds/sec; Crusader: 1/2 = 0.5 rounds/sec. Now to calculate the bonus in % we do: (0.666...x100)/0.5 =133.33...%!
I know why the crusaders won the second round ;) There is a little secret in the games coding on the USA faction side, which very many should know of already!
What bias? Colour me curious (???) I'd assume that with both sides acting on autopilot the pilots kept tanking shots for the tanks. Other than that small clusters of Battlemasters lost their bonus due to unfortunate positioning during the battle (probably inconsequential) guess: American Veterans have better stat bonuses, compounding over the duration of the battle. The slightly higher speed of the Crusaders gives them a tiny boost in burst potential, making them line up enough damage to kill a Battlemaster in one barrage quicker and more often than the enemy, resulting in more Battlemasters dying before they can get mileage out of their higher attack speed. (Plus, crusaders take one more attacker each to be killed in one burst) - Movement Speed > Attack Speed when there is enough damage potential to instantly kill.
Once the crusader dies, its pilot will go out leaving the machine. Pilots are considered infantry and infantry takes less damage from tank. So, the match is like having 300 battlemaster vs 300 crusader + 300 hard to kill pilots

Focused hitting will allow eleminating more target units, when moving 300 unit you need tactics to make all units really engaged in firing not waiting to be hit, plus maneuvering and running around the battle field without engaging would cause youbto loose shots against enemy..
How Crusaders wins this battle? Simple answer: Pilots Battlemasters have a "Horde bonus", but Crusaders (if are promoted to level 1 or higher) have an pilot, whos "upgrade" battle stats of Crusaders. They are faster, stronger and severe, so. If Crusader destroy many Battlemasters, then they "promoted" and destroy, Pilots going to Crusaders and upgrade them. Battlemasters got split up, thus taking away their horde bonus when their numbers fell but the crusaders stayed in a large group while others distracted the scattered battlemasters allowing the large group to run over the smaller groups of battlemasters. Well, that's what I guess.

Explosions from destroyed tanks do no damage even if there are units right next to it. Also, only Nuke Battlemasters leave radiation behind when they are destroyed, these are vanilla battlemasters, they only explode with radiation if you buy the upgrade.

Reason: 50 Vs 50 was 1 row Vs 1 row. So each tank attacked the other straight in front. 300 Vs 300, we know that as US assault vehicle gets upgraded and die, their pilot climb the nearest vehicle. But Chinese assault vehicles don't have this speciality. They get upgraded, yes but their pilot don't change vehicles. This gave the crusaders advantage because there were 3+ rows of tanks. So crusades efficiency actually increased.

I was a Generals player (not zero hour), but if I am not mistaken tanks could also shoot to these pilots (wasted shots).

Have you added the composite armor effect on Crusader? The HP will be 580 not 480. And you can use bombardment to add more damage too

The veterancy itsef does not compensate for the +33% RoF of the battlemasters. The Battlemasters wasting shots at the pilots from the destroyed crusaders is what tipped the scales.
I think it was the concave formation the crusaders took throughout many parts of the battle. This results in a greater focus on each tank which eliminates more enemy guns more quickly then if they were spread evenly like in the first fight.
Crusaders won due to their senior drivers/pilots...making them more potent as compared to simple crusader tanks..

i'd have to say it was because not every shot was made on a crusader tank some shots were fire at the pilots that came out of destroyed crusaders

Since the dps was the same in the 300 v 300, the total armor count of the crusaders was 144,000 and the armor count of the battlemasters was 120,000. The more tanks both sides had in a battle, the more the crusaders' armor could overpower the battlemasters' horde bonus.

Actually there was a few moments, when crusaders were standing as perfect wall, when china had to push by uneven lines, so that situation created some kinds of "focus fire" by crusaders, as result, china lost all their power approximately in the middle of battle
Keep in mind that I didn't film all 600 tanks at once, meaning that what you've said probably happened off-camera to battlemasters as well. Good point though.

no, this fight represnts the tanks in their most basic forms, no upgrades and battlepans are active. I will remake this fight with upgrades and different battleplans to see how it changes the outcome.
Composite Armor increases the HP of Crusaders by around 40%.
Nationalism doubles the ROF bonus for BMs though, from 25=>50%, but it's a 25% bonus in stats vs 40%.
+ 25% increased damage from Nuke Shells counteracts Bombardment somewhat(+20%) though.
Nuke Tanks will make the BMs explode on each other.
So it would be interesting to see the results.

Even if the Battlemaster tanks have the horde property, the Crusades drivers with their rank moves into the new just deployed to the facing of the battle tanks making them already with higher rank and boosted properties, while Battlemasters when they got destroyed, the just deployed tanks have to level up in order to match the ranks for the Crusades, hence matching their boosted properties.
The best way to settle it would be to make it a 1v1, but have 5 battle masters so it would gain horde bonus and making sure only one of them is attacking the crusader.
The combined dps of the crusaders wrecked the horde bonus especially since it was just a battle royale that time around

I saw the crusaders spawn pilots which can level up the tanks. And I noticed the ai for the Chinese tank kept retreating and avoiding attack
Division of firepower, the 25% group bonus loses dividends very quickly as 1 of every five tanks is destroyed. Perhaps the tanks take a moment to regroup and regain the bonus firepower, or remain spread while under fire and attempt to attack a more powerful foe. Either way, the time spent regrouping with divided fire is certainly one reason for the loss at equal odds. It is clearly seen that during this battle there is a definitive split into two distinct battles. The power gained in numbers, via bonuses is lost and the commanders gain the advantage.

This wasn't done on a normal match, I created this map on the World Builder tool that comes with the game, in this tool you can have scripts to tell what units do and how the game behaves, that's how I got the camera moving like that without mouse and no game UI.
Why use the battlemaster bonus? And then not use the drone ability for crusaders?
because the battlemaster bonus is passive, while for the crusaders you actually have to buy the drones

Redistributed veterancy by pilots was the main driving factor in my opinion.
I would like to see how the results change once both tanks are fully upgraded ( including the drones)

EDIT: There's a mistake in this video, the horde bonus does not give 25% bonus rate of fire! It gives +33.33...%! The battlemaster and crusader both take 2 seconds to reload. But with the horde bonus it takes 1.5 seconds for the battlemaster to reload. At first it seems +25% because 0.5sec is a quarter of 2sec. But if we calculate both tanks rates of fire in rounds per second: Battlemaster: 1/1.5 = 0.666... rounds/sec; Crusader: 1/2 = 0.5 rounds/sec. Now to calculate the bonus in % we do: (0.666...x100)/0.5 =133.33...%!
I know why the crusaders won the second round ;) There is a little secret in the games coding on the USA faction side, which very many should know of already!

I'd assume that with both sides acting on autopilot the pilots kept tanking shots for the tanks.
Other than that small clusters of Battlemasters lost their bonus due to unfortunate positioning during the battle (probably inconsequential)
guess: American Veterans have better stat bonuses, compounding over the duration of the battle.
The slightly higher speed of the Crusaders gives them a tiny boost in burst potential, making them line up enough damage to kill a Battlemaster in one barrage quicker and more often than the enemy, resulting in more Battlemasters dying before they can get mileage out of their higher attack speed. (Plus, crusaders take one more attacker each to be killed in one burst) - Movement Speed > Attack Speed when there is enough damage potential to instantly kill.
Because you Have pilots in the Crusaders easy it increases there stats +1 rank :)

Once the crusader dies, its pilot will go out leaving the machine. Pilots are considered infantry and infantry takes less damage from tank. So, the match is like having 300 battlemaster vs 300 crusader + 300 hard to kill pilots

Focused hitting will allow eleminating more target units, when moving 300 unit you need tactics to make all units really engaged in firing not waiting to be hit, plus maneuvering and running around the battle field without engaging would cause youbto loose shots against enemy..

Those upgrades are from the China Nuke faction no? If so, the comparable USA tank would be the Laser Crusader from the USA Laser faction.

Battlemasters have a "Horde bonus", but Crusaders (if are promoted to level 1 or higher) have an pilot, whos "upgrade" battle stats of Crusaders. They are faster, stronger and severe, so. If Crusader destroy many Battlemasters, then they "promoted" and destroy, Pilots going to Crusaders and upgrade them. Now Crusaders are stronger than Battlemasters.

On an average 3 crusaders were firing one 1 battle master. So within a given time the China suffers more casualty in compared to USA.
This is my idea when The crusaders have a rank and die the pilot comes out and guess what the battlemasters will target the raked pilot and the crusaders will attack the battlemasters. but I guess I'm wrong wait i have one

Try without upgrades but with nuclear general. Try it with upgrades.
Battlemasters got split up, thus taking away their horde bonus when their numbers fell but the crusaders stayed in a large group while others distracted the scattered battlemasters allowing the large group to run over the smaller groups of battlemasters. Well, that's what I guess.

When a battle master tank gets destroyed it blows up and affects everything around it with its blast radius and nuclear radiation.
Explosions from destroyed tanks do no damage even if there are units right next to it. Also, only Nuke Battlemasters leave radiation behind when they are destroyed, these are vanilla battlemasters, they only explode with radiation if you buy the upgrade.

It's very easy using the World Builder tool, you can create your own maps.
Reason:
50 Vs 50 was 1 row Vs 1 row. So each tank attacked the other straight in front. 300 Vs 300, we know that as US assault vehicle gets upgraded and die, their pilot climb the nearest vehicle. But Chinese assault vehicles don't have this speciality. They get upgraded, yes but their pilot don't change vehicles. This gave the crusaders advantage because there were 3+ rows of tanks. So crusades efficiency actually increased.

10 range advantage allowing crusaders to fire a earlier, thus getting in 1 more shot.
