Are you still reading this?? Type "BWAAS!" in the comments below!
I lost it at "He's just your average every day, super attractive, scarf wearing, Spanish speaking, airplane piloting, sharp shooting, skullbashing, armor crafting etc etc stay at home Dad" :p Honest Trailers For the win!
Imagine writing all that down again just to make a comment
@@thewolverine8593 "Super attractive, scarf wearing, spanish speaking, airplane piloting, sharp shooting, skull bashing, armor crafting, arm chopping, prisioner interrogating, surgery doing, slow-mo vision having, antidote making, eagle-eyed... stay at home dad"
I don't see the big deal
Funny how the stay at home dad part is the most unusual thing on that list.
By which I mean... sad.
It's got sequels?
Underwater Zombies? Laser Weapons? Doomsday Cults? Damn the book sounds interesting.
+oznerolk Are the best parts anti-zombie wiener dogs?
oznerolk Sounds good.
the book is pretty much super awesome and has nothing in common with the film. like, nothing.
it's really immersive i read it in one night
Samuel Tan IRON MAIDEN??
oznerolk The Battle of Yonkers dude. nuff said.
To sum up:
Basically filmmakers found out that 'World War Z' was a popular book, so they cooked up a generic zombie film and called the movie World War Z to put asses in seats, because the movie has zero to do with the events in the book.
It's the same thing they did with 'I Am Legend.'
Yea, they just bought the rights to World War Z movie to get some money from the title. The only things from the book were the start of the virus (but they only talk about it, they never actually show it), the Great Panic and the wall Israel built.
At least I Am Legend was actually good. I liked the concept of this movie and the massive hoards of cgi zombies but the story was lackluster.
baldian3 I Am Legend was second rate shit. The book was WAY more interesting.
For a closer version to the novel, I'd recommend 'The Last Man On Earth' starring Vincent Price (1964).
Krys Sullivan I own the book and whilst it was interesting. I prefer the film. Everyone has their own opinions. Don't ever forget that.
baldian3 No need to condescend. Some prefer action and shallow stories, whilst others prefer theme and tone. To each their own.
"Man, that really makes me want a Coke." Lmao xD
dude I died

Came down just to comment that XD
holy shit Funniest part!
it was pepsi he was drinking though
“So many productive problems people were genuinely surprised when it wasn’t a complete disaster.” God I love this TH-cam page. 😂😂😂

They forgot the blind japanese gardener, The great panic, patient zero, the China bits, North Korea and the catacumbs zombies in the awesome things from the book
Battle...of...Yonkers. OMG I need to see that live-action.
In fairness, blind Japanese gardener kinda fits into the shield society note, just like otaku with a sword.
Underwater zombie,phalanx,story about astronout guy,etc
THE ENTIRE INDIA-PAKISTAN SUBPLOT???
To this day one of the best books I've ever read. The detail, the accuracy, the plausible theories and trajectory of the events that take place. So many different perspectives, cultures, failures, triumphs and unique stories stemming from the same event.. It's like Pulp Fiction but with less feet and more zombies.
_So your saying there’s at least some feet?_
Billi Joe Bobby Jr this comment was 3 years to late but still hilarious
Psychotic thank you, it’s unfortunate that I found this video so late but I had to comment
"World War Z was one of the most anticipated book adaptations this summer. Sometimes things are better left on the page."
Well, then it's a good thing they left most of it there, huh?
Shots fired!
I can't like this enough!!
Albert Pike - World War Zion
this comment is sooooooooooooooooo underrated XD
The book doesn't have Brad Pitt! ☹️
the cure in the movie is quite clear "drink pepsi - be immune to zombies"
... because it makes you sick, thus keeping the zombies away.
LOL. That product placement did work though. People did say they were craving drinking Pepsi after the scene. ;) Just goes to show how we're influenced by stuff we see.
You mean coke
@@haremking7256 pretty sure it was pepsi in the movie
The book World War Z was an awesome collection of horrifying interviews from various survivors of the zombie war which, at the time of the interviews, began 20 years before. I can tell you that the book and the movie have absolutely nothing in common except the United Nations being involved and the thing with Israel.
I always wanted to read the book, your comment and the what the movie was missing lost has rekindled that feeling!
Well I would definitely recommend the book, it was great!
Char Rar ok thank you and my future nightmares thanks you too lml
Personally, I enjoyed the movie, it pleasantly killed the time on a plane trip, but I would love a remake/sequel done in the style of the original source material.
I hate this movie and don't know how it ever got made. It's possible I would feel differently if it wasn't called World War Z but it might be the worst movie I have ever seen which was supposed to be based off a book I really enjoyed.
I think the best way to really do this book justice is for HBO or AMC to make it into a series.
"All you do is make pancakes!"
"Yeah, but I'm really good at it."
"Man, what a waste of good source material." Truer words were never spoken.
I'm glad someone finally pointed out that "Bwaa" sound. It's been driving me nuts ever since it became a thing.
it'll never be as much of a thing as the "Wilhelm scream" though
obligatory inception BWAAS 😂😂😂 I laughed so hard my friends though I had astma
+InnocentUke nothing but BWAAAAAAS!
So they thought you were a zombie movie cliche? That is, if you're a kid
Obligatory inception bwaas - means ?
@@pranavn911 The sounds.
Can you do non-Hollywood? Can you do Train to Busan?
Nikki Mendoza fuck yes please :3
Train to Busan is the best Zombie movie I've seen probably ever. Unbelievably well made movie subtitles and all. Much better than this WWZ garbage with Pitt and his stupid grunge haircut. What a candyass he is. So sick of Hollywood destroying great books.
YEEES! Please Train to Busan!! The best zombie movie i have seen recently, if not ever. More romance and passion since Love Actually, more tense since the Alien. Simply awesom. And now Hollywood is going to remake it, they are going to raaaapeeee it! >(
Nikki Mendoza that movie sucks
omg yes
He's just your super attractive, scarf wearing, spanish speaking, airplane piloting, sharp shooting, skull bashing, armor crafting, arm chopping, prisioner interrogating, surgery doing, slow-mo vision having, antidote making, eagle-eyed... stay at home dad 😂😂😂😂
who never has to make any choices that are unherolike thanks to random chance events happening...
The next one should be zombies vs...anti-zombie wiener dogs. No speaking, no voice-over, no CG animals. Just...wiener dogs, killing zombies. Period. Full goddamn stop. Zombies...vs...wiener dogs.
MrTree1779 Best...movie...ever
MrTree1779 SOMEONE MUST MAKE THIS MOVIE!
Yes, but it needs a good story like "DA DOGS KEEL TEH ZOMBEHZ"
+MrTree1779 But, don't the anti-zombie dogs have handlers that listen to and talk to their dogs with walkie talkies?
When you put it like that, then hell yeah, I'd be down to see that.
The whole plot " it's another Zombie movie, but this time it's got Brad Pitt"
I heard that the original script for this movie was a direct adaptation of the book, with almost all the same characters, scenes and ideas. Apparently it was so good that Max Brooks himself gave it his personal thumbs-up. But then the studios and producers forced the writers to change the script entirely, and we have this piece of crap.
Also, there was an alternate third act in this movie where they go to Russia, witness the Decimations, and fight off a hoard of slow-moving zombies using honest-to-Glob Lobos. And the studios nixed that too.
WHY!?
The original two scrip's (the honest to the book one and a honest but more action packed one) where both written by the man who also wrote the Babylon 5 series. The studio didn't like his ideas and basically kicked him out. Guess the must have thought that a good risk was a worst idea then a safe bet, and given how many morons paid to see this movie they where evidently right.
dave19941000 I'm just sad we didn't see Russian Lobo zombies.
Finally someone who gets that the movie is no where near close to the book! I've been explaining to everyone I know how the movie and the book have almost nothing in common. (and I can tell this just by watching the trailers) And now the idea that they changed the script just makes me mad. How are you going to base a movie off a book and then take a shit on the author's ideas? (in this case his approval)
nicole scott I remember giving a copy of the book to a friend for Christmas. He had seen the movie, and loved the book too, but he had one question. 'Why isn't this like the movie?'
I think even the neighbours heard my facepalm.
***** The movie is crap, but the book is literally the best thing I have ever read. Ever.
Can you imagine how good a show that followed the book would be?
Would love to see The Battle of Yonkers and The Battle of Hope.

That's too bad. Reading is a wonderful way to gain insight into things that actually matter from actual smart people. Don't let corporations whose only interest is *selling* you stuff tell you how to manage your own head. You DO have a brain and you ARE allowed to use it in spite of what you've been told by teachers, preachers and politicians.

Catzilla Why read books if we have instant knowledge in the internet?
I think these honest trailers are more well done than the newer ones because they feel more like actual trailers. The effects and music are better here.
Put subtitles on and read it at 0:57
The reason I put on subtitles in the first place is because I wanted to see what he said at 0:53 after "surgery-doing"
Oh my gosh I almost died!
Eh, we got a pretty good South Park episode out of it.

Anglo-Saxons, or White Hispanics like the vilified George Zimmerman ?
When I heard they were making a movie, I knew it wasn't going to have all the main elements from the book, but when I saw the trailer- OH MAN! There was nothing at all from the book. I was hoping the movie would be a realistic documentary, with realistic interviews with characters from the book addressing topics from the book with brief cut scenes/flash backs or footage bites showing both the events of the war or the interviewee's experience in the war. Nope! Instead we got Hollywood rewriting the entire storyline and leaving out the realism that made the book so popular. Remake the movie, and get it right, damn it!
For such a high budget film you would think they would actually put more time in the storybut instead I got a movie that had mediocre sound a bad plot and disappointments all the way around
It was only a vehicle for himbo Brad Pitt.
I know that is so right
Alex Williamson'sadventures

So Resident Evil 4 logic?
Peter Capaldi plays a DOCTOR at the W.H.O. facility. Think about it.
+Chris Carnicelli BWAAAAH!!....BWAAAAAAAAH!!!!
And he was hot. Even if he isn't much of a presence in a zombie movie next to Brad Pitt. Still, that jumper and the scruff. (Heart eyes)
+Chris Carnicelli
That was the best part of the movie for me. I mean, I liked it and all, but Peter was the best part.
Yep, he's a W.H.O Doctor.
+Chris Carnicelli I jumped out my seat when I saw 12...in pretty much the same way when I saw 11 in Terminator Genysis.
This "Honest" trailer probably would've been funnier to me if I watched this movie when I was sober, and remembered watching this movie in it's entirety, instead of fading in and out while drunk on whiskey... Every 10 minutes, I fell asleep from boredom, only to wake up and watch 5 minutes of the movie till I fell asleep for another 10 minutes, and repeated that process till the end credits... After the movie ended we put on Futurama! We watched the entire 3rd season without blinking!!! I'm gonna miss Futurama!!! What was this video about again??? Some dude with a beard on a plane???
Being completely wasted is the only way to watch this kind of movies.
"Brad Pitt zombie movie" 😂😂😂
Lets not forget how his satellite phone gets taken out by a EMP from that nuke yet a few scenes later works again.
Never even thought of that :)
The Battle of Yonkers should have been part of the movie.
I couldn't agree more!
and that russian scene. When the movie was announced I thought: "OMG, I will see the zombies with their lungs inside out!"
This is just fucked up. The Walking Dead with it's stable cast becomes a TV series. And WWZ, with it's variety in locations and switching characters by chapter, aside from the Interviewer, becomes a movie. It should be the other way around.
Crazy that it wasn't. Of all the scenes in the book, this is the most obvious for the action flick this movie became.
I never read the book, but all three battles should have been in the movie. Especially the rest of the list.
"Meet Gerry Lane! He's just your average, everyday, super attractive, scarf wearing, Spanish speaking, airplane piloting, sharp shooting, skull bashing, armor crafting, arm chopping, prison interrogating, surgery doing, slo-mo vision having, antidote making, eagle-eyed, stay-at-home dad!"

Zain Peterson I know, right? Nothing makes sense in this movie!
I was reading this at the exact same time the video said it lol
A skilled guy cannot choose to stay at home :/
I guess no one else figured out from the movie that he used to be involved in military special forces/United Nations stuff. That was alluded to once he and his family reached the safe Navy ship haha
I have driven down this exact road 1:26 every morning for several years now and I never saw any zombie apocalypse :)
@ Chris B
M-F, right? Zombies apocalypses are only on *weekends.* Come on, man...keep up!
You must have missed the day they filmed
"ANTI-ZOMBIE WIENER DOGS"
ANTI-ZOMBIE WIENER DOGS IS A THING?!
And it's every bit as awesome as you can imagine!
***** but no caps, like ever.... cause you stole em...
+Fubukio There's a bit in the book were they talk about the huge part dogs played in reckon and intel missions, and even their part in atracting zombies to the humans s they could be taken down.
They even describe the whole selection and training process that both the dog and it's human partner had to endure in order to be considered apt for service and how the loss of a partner could lead to depression and even suicide (The Doc City trainers had a suicide rate just below the radio operators). They even mentioned how they started using live Zack (military's word for zombies) for realistic training even before the Willow Creek pilots.
The interviewed former trainer's dog is Maze, a mix between a dachshund and something else (pure breed dogs were determined to sicklish for service, all the dogs used during the war were crossbreeds).
3:03 I like how the pepsi placement makes him want a coke :)
They really should make some movies from the actual book.
yes, I almost cried from how far the movie was from the book
"Watch brad pit survive an unsurvivable apocalypse"😭😭😂😂😂😂😂
"all those reshoots must have cost a fortune wonder how thy paid for that" "ohh that really makes me want a coke" subtle
Best part of the movie: when clumsy guy slips and gives himself a headshot xD
Beckii Anne
and no one in the theater give a shit lol
They should have made it into a TV series. Not even like an actual series, there's enough material to get 13 decent hour-long documentary style episodes.
I'm glad I haven't read the book. I actually really enjoyed watching this movie. Especially zombies, who can outrun a fcking car.
I enjoyed the movie, but as someone who's read the book, the movie could have a different title and still make sense
Yes, I agree. Kinda just make another zombie movie without mentioning book's title.
+Johnnie Walker This is the only Zombie movie I like.
SSj 9th Spirit Goku XV Legend It is really good. I like 28 weeks and days later and the dead rising or something like that, but they look kinda cheap.
+SSj 9th Spirit Goku XV Legend Shawn of the dead? It's the highest rated zombie movie of all time, it's a comedy zombie movie
THis trailer was useful!!! it makes me wanna read the book.
u totally should, the book is great.
the book is awesome
The book is nothing like the movie, but they both still rocked.
Raphael Groushvitski I don't know about the book yet, glad to hear its not the same because in all honesty i would never describe the movie as having rocked. It was not bad. Best i could say about it.
I loved the book. It has nothing to do with the movie.

Dad: yea but I'm good at it

According to the automatic subtitles, all he does is "lick porn pics in the morning".
Max Bettencourt
But he's good at it!
XD
Ah, I was so happy to stumble upon this :) There were three parts that I had hopes of seeing in the movie: the woman who claimed someone on radio by the name of Mets (I believe...) guided her to a meetup location for a helicopter. The implementation of the plan (I forget its name) in which essentially those that truly had something to contribute to the post-apocalyptic world took precedence over others or if they were physically/mentally stronger. And those that were weaker became food for the zombies to slow them down so that everyone else may live. How controversial! But I would've loved to have seen it. And finally, the Japanese kid who escaped his apartment building with a katana :)
He was in a Volvo. Of course he survived the crash. Everyone else was screwed though.
I grew up watching horror films (mother's side is crazy like that), and this ranks with some of the worst zombie films ever made. I hate when directors reinvent zombies, vampires, werewolves, etc. into something ridiculous.
I don't hate it. Sometimes it needs to be reinvented if it's going to be any good, such as reinventing the vampire out of the edward cullenization and into something more badass, that would be a wonderful thing right about now.
Yeah, but the sparkly emo vampire IS the reinvention.
Mendokusai99 I know, but don't let anyone else know about that ;)
The book is superbly made though.
Can you please say "Kidneys! I've got new kidneys! I don't like the colour."
0:46 - Spanish speaking? I remember that kid translating their conversation though.
***** When Brad first met them, he spoke to them in spanish. But a second later the kid had to translate for him. My guess is that Brad didnt know much Spanish, so they flip flopped back and forth.
One bonus about this film is that its filmed in Glasgow and if you're a Glaswegian like me its fun to point out all the landmarks and buildings in the background like at 2:44 is George Square. Any other people from Glaswegians get a kick out of that?
IIRC the Greggs in George Square is visible. :-D
I was wondering why that square looked so familiar...
@@silviasanchez648 aye
i actually was really excited for this movie because the first scene when they're driving in traffic was filmed in scottland, not PA. i happened to be there for summer vacation and i got to see the set and sort of some of the filming, plus brad pitt stayed in the same hotel as me so... yeah. i wanted to see that movie just so i could say i was there
My workplace was just a bit away from the scenes filmed in Scotland so me and my co-workers just sat and watched the filming (business was very slow at that point in time so our Boss didn't mind)
it was sort of funny to me to see people taking pictures of American stuff since i'm so used to it. but i guess it's the same as us taking pics of telephone booths in london?
That book was so so so good. It even spoke/made sort of meta fun over the stuff it couldn't explain like how zombies could survive for years in salt water or surive the pressure on the ocean and this movie.....gawd, this movie just took the title and F@CKED everything else that was in the book.
Just damn it to hell!
the book was ok, but really overhyped. it seemed like they filled in a lot of blanks when you read it the first time, but there are other times where characters relay information they would have no way of knowing. overall i'd give it a B. that said, the movie was to the book what the 1998 american godzilla movie was to the godzilla lore.
Does anyone recommend I read World War Z?? Looking for a new book to get into that isn't educational.
Hell. Yeah. It's in my top five and I don't even enjoy zombie novels usually.
I hated the book. I only found a few scenes interesting. The only one I remember is where a bunch of soldiers jam out to Iron Maiden as they wait for the zombies
if you read the book i promise you wont be dissapointed.by the way the movie had nothing to do with the book in fact it was the worst book to movie adapatation i have ever seen.i would rather get ass raped by rosie odonell with a 10 inch black dildo and no lube than watch that movie again
I think you can like this book if you watch something like The Walking Dead, because this is not only about people who tried to kill zombies but how they can survive together when undead monster eat their family or friends in front of them. In the book you can follow the story of different people, group or country (yep, not only in the USA) and that's why World War Z is interesting, if you don't like one of the stories, you can pass it and read the next one :)
dookie juju A worse movie adaptation than The Invisible Man?
With all due respect, those are War of the Worlds BWAAS.

It would be awesome if they made a movie about the battle of yonkers and the battle of hope.
Do the "Resident Evil" movies. I can already imagine how you'll open it. "From the director of the only good Video Game movie comes this franchise based on the beloved survival horror franchise... That took until the sequel to actually have characters from the game."
I second this request!
haha nice I'd love to see that
***** That would be the point. lol
As a fan of the original resident evil saga, no Resident Evil movies are not good. It's essentially the difference between the War Z movie and the book, but from the Video Game to the movie.
"Man what a waste of good source material" is literally the quote that defines our generation.
"this time it has brad pitt" LOL
all that and home-dad, that was the funniest part for me, lol
So, Peter Capaldi stars in the film, and he works for W.H.O... And this film came out the same year we all found out he'd be the 12th Doctor... Coincidence?

The book literally had a blind man that could use his Daredevil-esque hearing powers to kill zombies with a shovel - AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE IT IN THE MOVIE.
I am not familiar with the book, and thought the movie was fairly decent for a zombie flick. But apparently the book is much better. Kind of a waste in that respect.
Read the book. You won't sleep soundly any more for at least two weeks...
Dude the book is one of the most deeply enthralling zombie related things. Period. It has so much feeling and emotion and it's not just about zombies. They're just a portion of the plot. It also focuses on the actual people and their feelings going through the outbreak.
Camille Eikel Ever read Day of the Triffids? It's a post apocalyptic book I hoped was mostly about killer plants, but it was more about the human aspect as well. It's a shame World War Z didn't do more with that theme, though.
That is the problem, Z is not a "zombie" movie. There are no zombies, only infected.
Kettles Smeff That's like saying The Walking Dead doesn't have zombies, only 'walkers'. Semantics...
Please say "I want a rainbow colored ice cream"
You know if they tried to cram everything into world war Z book into a movie it'll probably come more of a TV show like the walking dead that would have been cool.
At the end when Pitt was drinking he said "man that really makes me want a coke"....I'm like "too bad that's a Pepsi" hahahaha
It actually looks like generic grape soda. The can he's drinking out of is on the right side of the vending machine which looks nothing like a Pepsi can. The narrator though was probably bashing on Pepsi and saying it makes him want Coke as a joke
I'm quite sure he knew it was Pepsi

You should've said: STARRING Z AS A NUMBER 2
Watching this trailer made me want to read the novel, which is excellent. Would definitely recommend the novel.
To all t the people saying the family was speaking Portuguese and not Spanish, the dad said, " Necesites algo más antes de irse?" That is NOT Portuguese. Look up "World War Z: Brad Pitt talking spanish" right here on TH-cam and listen to that conversation. The kid was also speaking Spanish.
I think the battle of the five colleges should be its own movie, 300 students with only a few rifles and sharp objects saying "fuck it where not evacuating, where just going to fight off 10,000 zombues"
I still think World War Z was one of the most accurate zombie movies ever.
Have you met zombies to measure the accuracy of a zombie movie?
it was a pretty good movie, but i wish they stayed true to the book.
Thy Gamosh Yes actually, I am one. I agree sam fisher
Thy Gamosh Yeah, I thought, "Wow, these guys have really done their research - they've obviously looked into zombie history, read zombie case studies and the latest zombie research, been around zombies, hung out with zombies, interviewed zombies - I'm suspecting that one or two of the screenwriters actually were zombies."
Mark Postgate i lol to that. :)
"That really makes me want a coke" xD
That makes me really wanna drink a coke! Lmao XD
