Cheers Kri!
That was a great buildup getting to altitude. Can't wait for Part II when we get to ski down.
That top part is a glacier, I ski down it in two parts, the first on piste and the second off, then I go all the way to the bottom via a crazy black... The next three videos on Val d'Isere...
@@ChasingSnow I eagerly await!
@@barrylongyear1933 coming soon :-)
Wow, the place looks huge!
Oh yeah, it's quite large but this is only a small section on Val d'Isere which is connected to Tignes so combined it's huge but not too far away is Three Valleys, the largest resort in the world.
@@ChasingSnow I am going to Zermatt and Sestriere this winter to ski. Cannot wait, I have never skied in the Alps before.
@@rainmaker3700 Sounds great, Zermatt is also large as it is connected to Cervinia, the Italian part.
Do you always ski alone? I’m considering going back to Tignes/val d’isere but having a go on my own this time. Just looks so peaceful. How do You find it compared to other resorts?
I generally ski alone as I do it for the whole season and not many people are in that position though I am joined by family and friends at times. No problems, I like it either way.
Tignes and Val d'Isere are two of the top resorts in Europe, large with lots of challenges so I'll be back.
8:07 oof, that would be me... poor guy. Wonder if his slip is now world famous on TH-cam?
It happens to the best of us... he seems fine though...
Just had a look at the pieste map, you apparently can ski via blue runs from that top all the way down to a place called Le Fornet. If I ever go to Val d'Isère, it's a long run worth trying. Thou to get back to Val d'Isère I'd have to get a shuttle bus.
In upcoming videos I ski to Le Fornet but take the black route and then I do the blue route later. You could get back to Val d'Isere via blue up to Solaise (via Datcha) and then get the Gondola down.
@@ChasingSnow Just had another look at the pieste map, yes, once at the bottom if I take the Fornet, and then Valon gondola, and ski down a blue called 'pont abatte' to the Leissiers chair lift if it goes over the 'Crete Des Leissiers' ridge, then I can ski down a choice of two blues i.e. Leissiers or Plan milet before the Datcha chair and then a green run called 'madeleine' to the Solaise gondola. BTW, how long would that route take me?
@@Puzzoozoo not sure how long it will taken but should be less than an hour. Two videos that show the route + more are th-cam.com/video/zn1vvCUwUCU/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/fQG9LUKK0to/w-d-xo.html
@@ChasingSnow Right. Thank you for doing that run, I now know what it looks like, and what to expect. I'll see about going to Val d'Isère in March 2025 after the French school holidays to beat the crowds or Jan 2026.
@@Puzzoozoo Cheers!
