I have the same roughing gouge that I bought as a set with 2 spindle gouges about 30 years ago in Miami, Fl for around $20.00. Twenty years later I bought a lathe. Cart before the horse.

Excellent Stewart, very good basic instruction for a beginner. One point I feel you missed was looking at the shape emerging by looking at the top of the turning and not where you are cutting. So will you be going from teaching English to teaching woodturning.

I have seen several demos on using this tool. This is one of the goodest! Seriously the way you explain it then demo it is really spot on. A bit different than thr usual, but welcome.
