I have the EVA1, GH5s, and S5iiX, and I love the image from the EVA1.

The EVA 1 is still a lovely camera despite the newer ones coming out. How are you liking the S5iiX?

@@filmmakersrskilnand9172 huge improvement from my GH5 and GH5s, I use it for stills mainly, have not dug into its video potential yet. Still trying to acquire glass apart from adapting EF lenses.

@@dadbeatdead The S5iiX looks like a lovely blend of the GH5s and S1H :) The only downside for me with SLRs is the lack of internal NDs. I shot tons with the Gh5s in it's day :)

@@filmmakersrskilnand9172 Been using the S5iiX as my main camera, image is astounding with Blackmagic RAW and competes with heavy hitter cinema bodies in terms of IQ. Quality of life wise ND's would be really nice to have, but the weight and size makes up for it. Have some videos on my channel :)

@dadbeatdead I’m considering adding an EVA1 to a house of worship setup with 2 S5ii cameras. How does the EVA1 cut with the S5ii image?

You are welcome. Thanks for watching. I think it is important not to get hung up on the latest tech, while there is still older technology that can do the job.

The stock monitor is horrible but its a great little camera with a lovely image.
Have a pair, one converted to PL and use with CN20 & other in EF for use with stills lenses for wildife
Perfect lightweight complement to Varicam LT or RED

I would really like a comparison between the C70 and EVA1 as they are comparably priced on the used market. The C70, in my mind at least, should be the better camera, but is it in practice?

Well, I have used both cameras and in my experience the EVA 1 gives the C70 a real good run. Personally I would choose the EVA 1 for the ease of use, image quality and also affordable media. The C70 has a better lcd and better autofocus, but you will have to tweak the image profile coming out of the C70 to rival the EVA 1 straight out of the camera. Mind you, this was before Canon implemented raw internally so on paper the C70 is better but not unless you go through the step of working with raw files. The raw output of the EVA1 is probably one of the noisiest I have ever seen, so I quickly skipped that workflow :) Personally just straight out of the camera I would put the EVA 1 over the C70.
Workflow wise, I do have issues playing the mov. files of the Panasonic, of any Panasonic actually, straight on my MAC, just for viewing rushes. I have never been able to figure out why, though.
They are both easy to use, but I find the EVA 1 to configure easier than the C70 which needs a cage to work properly. In my opinion.

Mine died in the middle of a short film. 3 months old and the board fried. Yeah, been hard to look at Panasonic ever since. Very nice image though!

Mine fried as well right before the shooting begins. Even though it is under warranty, I have to pay for the replacement. From then on, I do not bother with Panasonic cameras.
