Hannah hunts and fishes everything in America with her dad. Her dad fell out of a tree stand and broke his back and neck in March of this year. He has already recovered. She carries a firearm daily and is into archery as well. Check out videos where she hunts alligators with a bow and arrow. She just built her own home with her dad. Hannah is a pure southern woman. She's very feminine but very tough. The boy is her nephew I believe.
My dad had an unusual deer kill. lol
He was on an Army bus (like a school bus) from the airport to his military base, all service members, and the bus stopped because there was a deer standing dazed in the middle of the road. No one had a gun or knife on them, so someone loaned him a military dress sword to kill it, then they tied to over the hood of the bus and took it to the base. lol
Catfish nest in abandoned burrows (muskrat), logs or washout around the banks. The fish will go in and hollow them out even more for a safe place to spawn. Did some noodling in Oklahoma in the early 2000's in a lake where the State record Noodling fish was caught. You can try to act tough all you want, but when a 37 pounder hits you for the first time, you'll let out a squeal like a little girl.
She's the real deal. She's made herself a nice living. Her Dad is also very cool He just finished building her a house. They eat turtle, catfish, gator, wild hog, etc. They don't always throw things back. They both work out in their own gym.
The girl was Hanna Barron from south Alabama and that was her dad that was with her. The guy in the comments who said catfish have no teeth is badly mistaken. As being a fisherwoman all of my life I can tell you from experience that catfish do have teeth. That's why they have all of the scars on their arms. It's from being bitten. I live very close to the Tennessee River which is known for having catfish. As far as the size of them. There are locks on these dams and divers who go down to inspect them from time to time have stated that they have seen catfish laying up in the locks that are big enough to swallow a human. All they do is lay up in these locks and as they open and shut them for water to flow through, these fish just lay up in there and eat from the fish that are flowing through the locks. Their weight can get up to well over 100 lbs.
I was about to make a similar comment. Same situation at the locks on the Mississippi river near where we live.
oh yeah catfish have teeth. some species have REAL teeth, not just sandpaper 👀. and some are so big theyll vacuum you in like patrick star on spongebob eating , if youre not carefull youll dtrown as it doesnt take much force for you to become bouyant and or not bouyant. where im from theres invasive species from the amazon, literaly fresh water sharks. not quite "cat sharks" which are basically sharks/catfish mix.
Sorry to say but caddish do not have teeth. Being a longtime 63 year fisherman, catfish have a really coarse lip like really touch sandpaper but they DO NOT have teeth. Google it. I wanted to be sure I was correct on this and found out I was. It says they have rough pads on those mouth. Like I said before, like coarse sandpaper. That’s all. Very few catfish species have teeth. Maybe a wells catfish might have them. But lost do not. So longtime fisherwoman or not you don’t know what you are talking about.
I don't know if it is true, but I have heard that some missing people are believed to have been eaten by catfish because they were fishing in areas where these fish were known to be huge.

However, there are some species of catfish that do have teeth. A species called Kryptoglanis shajii was discovered in India that has four rows of teeth.

At the beginning of the video they weren't cooling down, they were sticking their leg in a hole to see if there was a fish. When you find one you stick your arm in and let the catfish bite your arm then you pull them out of the hole. Only in the south in Anerica!
I have seen catfish larger than her. My six foot 4 inch grandfather had a photo of him and a friend as tall as him with a blue cat they caught from the Missouri river about 1940. Looking at the photo the head was over a foot wide and the body was over six foot long. Good reaction.
Many hydro-electric dams have monster sized catfish at their base.
They actually WORK for a living, farming, ranching, hunting, fishing etc. They don't need to go to a gym.

In the southern states, local restaurants dedicated to fried catfish is the norm. Fried catfish with hush puppies (cornbread balls with minced onion inside), fries (chips in your world), and cole slaw is the bomb! Wash it down with sweet tea, and if there's room left, have some peach pie or peach cobbler for dessert.
That was my whole childhood. Even at my age, I can still eat nearly a pound of fried catfish in a sitting, with all that other good stuff to go along.
When I was coming up, though, we didn't really like those big ones. We liked those little 1-2 pounders. They tasted the best to us. I don't know why, but we called them Pollys. Those big one's can get a bit fat. That fat doesn't taste good in a cat. Throw in some fried okra, some puppies or a pan of corn bread, some mustard greens, cow peas or purple hulled peas, and you've got yourself a fish fry.
Catfish is my favorite. If prepared and cooked right, there is no better tasting fish. I could eat it every week.
That being said, many places are advertising catfish but giving you something else now.
Where I live there was 1 restaurants that was known For MILES to have the best catfish around. It's sad it closed down several years ago when there was a road expansion done. The restaurant was close to the road and the main parking was in front of the building. When they did the road expansion it pretty much took their parking. Yeah there was a grass area in the back where people parked when the front was full but a lot of their was regulars was old timers because the restaurant been open since the late 1940s

Hannah and her dad absolutely go to the gym regularly, guys. Catfish can get way bigger than what you see here. In the Southeast US where I grew up, the catfish hanging around near large dams were bigger than humans and would scare the crap out of divers going down to work on the dam.(they're not aggressive though)
The fish just bite whatever comes in there home (the hole) and once it bites your arm you've got it. Most people are scared to do it and as you see it's dangerous. Sometimes when you are underwater the giant fish fight and can hold you under water. It's crazy!

The catfish that they caught in this video was really laid back! Her dad has had torn muscles in his arm from catfish! She has had catfish almost ripped her arm and hand off! They both have been bloody from the catfish mouth! The catfish do not have teeth, but their mouth is like very rough sandpaper! Especially the big fish!! You can't believe how that young lady get thrown all over the place and still hang on to them fish! Y'all should check out more videos of hers!
There are different types of catfish. The current world record Blue Catfish was caught in the lake I have lived on since 1987, Kerr Lake, NC. The fish was 143-pounds, 57 inches long with a 44-inch girth. Roughly a month earlier a 109 pound Blue catfish was caught in Kerr Lake. Those two aren't noodling size.
so simplist way to explain is that the catfish is in its burrow and they are getting it to bite their hand, then you quickly spread your fingers splayed out wide and shove your hand in deeper as you reach to hook onto the gill and then pull out. with smaller fish just spreading out your hand gets it stuck in their mouth so they cant get away.

I played football in Alabama , we were all just farm boys who were very physically active on the farm ,and out in the woods . We were just what they call " country strong " . We got em like that in the Roanoke River too. The world record Blue cat was caught there at 143 pounds. I have the good fortune of living 6 miles away.
In a bait shop there were photos of catfish that it took eight to ten people to hold up for the photo. I was fishing below a dam ( the downstream side of the dam is concrete about thirty feet or more to prevent the water from washing away the river bottom) when I saw what looked like a shark but was just a really big catfish. The catfish didn’t even look at my bait because it was too small!😂

The reason this works is catfish like any other fish when spawning will protect their nest/eggs anything that comes near they attack it so this only works a certain time of year when they are spawning… the teeth are like coarse sandpaper

The female lays eggs in a cool sheltered hole so sunlight can't kill her eggs and the male then stays and protects them. When anything comes into the hole, it bites and you pull it out. They look for natural holes and also build boxes for them to lay eggs and catch them that way. She has said the heaviest she ever caught was between 60-70 lbs. Yes they get bigger than what they caught here lol

Hanna Barron is the gal's name she's like an American sweetheart. She's got southern manners, she's humble she takes care of herself she's not afraid to work or HELP key word. Plus the obvious she's very attractive and built like brick shithouse. A lot of American women hate her and talk negative about her mainly because they can't stack up to her and they know it. Just petty female hen house BS mainly. She does work out I'm not sure it's for build. If I had to guess it's for tone and shape. The usual works on legs, buttocks etc. You know to make the fellers break there necks double taking. She's cool to watch and funny as well. Her ole man (her father) has a channel as well and does all kinds of good stuff on that too. Noodling/grabbing means the same thing is done by a lot of family for entertainment and a means to stay cool in the summer. Size effects the taste of the catfish meat. If families have a cookout/family gathering/ or get to gather it's common place for them to noodle for eating size catfish in holes in clay banks sunken hollow logs to obtain hundreds of pounds of catfish to cook for feeding A LOT of people. But you have to abide by the rules and regs supplied in the little book you can get where you buy your license. Because the game warden WILL be watching and cruise right up next to you if your not following limits etc. Usually your wallet get a lot lighter after that.
Lol, the politeness is pretty standard, too, for southerners and rural folks. Maybe not so much in city centers and dense population areas, but for sure, you get into rural areas, and folks are much different. Esp further away from towns or cities when you have to rely on yourself for more than most. Hell, hannah built her own house, lol. Not solo, of course, but people look to help each other out and stuff more when you get out in them rural areas. They're not the "low iq beer drinking gun toting hillbillies." Some folks make them out to be, lol

Catfish hide in holes. Noodling involves shoving your hand into the hole and letting the catfish bite your hand or arm (depending how big they are), then, pulling them out. And that's it, noodling.

As their guess to promote the product they sell! She does work out, but it's more cardio! When she was younger she used to help her dad build homes! He still does on occasion when she's not working! Them muscles come by working not exercising!

Noodling is the practice of finding a hole in the ground in a body of water (or setting up boxes underwater) that a catfish is likely to nest in. Reaching in with your arm and trying to grab the fish and drag it out. A good noodling day can result in a lot of fish which means a lot of food. A bad noodling day is when a large snapping turtle or other animal resides in there, capable of taking your fingers off with one bite. (No risk, no prize)
I've never gone noodling but I was invited to go with a neighbor (dairy rancher) to run is "trout lines" on the Brazos River in Texas. He did it for fun & sold the fish to a market in town. The day I went, we caught a 45lbs. & a 60lbs. catfish. They grow much bigger I heard of 100lbs.+ catfish taken out of Lake Houston. A few days later our neighbor came by to show us the gar he caught. It was over 6' long. The catfish sit in holes in the river bank & noodlers reach in this their leg to see if there is a fish in the hole & how big a fish.

So the catfish dig holes back in the bank to lay eggs and then they guard them. They put their hands and feet in the hole to get the catfish to attack then they grab the fish by the mouth and pull them out. They get Bit but they deal with it. I’ve seen her pull catfish that weigh 55 pounds plus they also built boxes for the fish nest and then look for them. They don’t keep them all. They usually tag the larger ones so if they catch them again.

You might want to check out the world record freshwater fish ever caught. It was a catfish. Look it up and you might not think these are big.
catfish have a smooth slick skin . very hard to hold onto . {from the outside} Noodling is wiggling your fingers like a fishing lure . catfish bites . you grab hold of the inside of the bottom jaw then thrust your arm in past your elbow to grab the gill flap from the inside . HOLD ON ! Possible loss of a finger . The same hideaways that catfish get into are also used by SNAPPING TURTLES ! !
They wear steel gloves. They stick their gloved hand into holes along the bank. The catfish bites their hand and the grabbed the fish by its mouth as it can't bite through the steel gloves.

Some of those fish are what some call "good eatin'".
Catfish make their burrows on the bank in holes they make. When they first go over they stick their leg in the hole to see if there is a fish. Once they find the fish you reach your arm in until the fish bites you. Then when it's chomped down on your arm you pull it out. The catfish during certain times of the year are super aggressive and will bite everytime.
A catfish will strike at anything in front of its face and yes holes and if it’s to big it can drown you easily

What you do is stick your hand in a catfish hole. The catfish will bite down on your arm and then you arre able to pull them out. Once you get your arm out of their mouth, you grab them by the gills and lift them up.
Those catfish may look big but they're actually quite small compared to some I've seen. The reason for the gloves is because catfish have teeth and at those size they can mess you up your hands bad if you don't have the proper hand protection when noodling because part of noodling is to literally put your hands in the mouth of the catfish and let them bite down on your hands so you can grab them better.
Noodling may look interesting and but but down let that fool you because it actually is dangerous. A catfish can teeth can rip up your skin, they can break fingers and wrist from twisting an turning, and there has been many deaths from drowning because the catfish have been down to latch onto the person's hand/arm and retreat down into their holes. This is also why it's very important when noodlig you have someone else there with you. It is so dangerous that there is many States here in the US that has made it illegal to noodle but the States that it's legal to noodle you still need a a fishing license and some States require you go have a special noodling permit where you can only catch so many catfish a day and you have to do it thd traditional way with just your hands and no aid from any type of tool.
For noodling, you put your hand into a hole, the fish then grabs onto your hand...then you pull it out. Did you see the raw arm of the other man? The cat fish has grinders (teeth) like rough sandpaper

Basically, they get as big as "Tom Cruise".
This is actually, or at least has been in the past, illegal b/c of how dangerous it can be. The holes where the catfish are can be very deep, and you don't know how big the fish is until you bring it up b/c the waters are very murky/dirty. The largest catfish caught like this was 87lbs. The largest catfish in the US can get to 5ft and 100lbs. If you notice while they're on the boat going to the spot it looks like Hanna has a scar on her wrist/forearm. I'm guessing(don't know for certain) that is scarring from sticking her arm in large fishes mouths. They don't have large teeth, but they tons of little inward curved teeth that, on the small ones, feel like rough sandpaper. Catfish in Europe can get huge, but the largest are in Asia, they can get several 100 lbs, largest caught was 300.
I prefer towing the line for bass, but if I want a catfish, I just set up a line right next to the end of docks with a bob, and wait for them to come out of their holes to bite.
Too many snakes and alligators in my area for my liking to catch by hand. But I appreciate the skill….

I haven't done 'pokin for catfish' in 60 years and I didn't do much then. It is hard to explain & there are no visuals. It is all by feel. You do different things in different situations. They are feeling for holes along the bank. You are right about that. A hole with a sandy opening may have a female caring for her eggs. You may block the hole with you feet or legs until someone else reaches in with their hands. There are so many variables really.
Her and her father have their own Guide Service they will take you cat fishing. She's also a professional model for a lot of outdoor products she's very popular and well like in the US
This was first done by the natives and was observed by settlers that moved into the area. What isn't said but should be said is sometimes they accidentally put their hand in a snapping turtle or alligator snapping turtle. There is a completely different outcome when that happens. They can lose flesh and or fingers. That's not common though.
Someone my dad's old friend knows noodles for fish and turtles. He actually has a couple fingers missing

Back in the nineties they had some people go down Ross Barnett Reservoir in Mississippi and they found catfish in their big enough to swallow a man whole that's because the water was so deep and it had plenty of food to eat so they just grow and grow as long as they have the area to grow in that big they will get big or huge

I grew up on the banks of the Mississippi River, but hate catfish. Too gamey.
Another term for that is hogging aka noodling. Catfish get back in a hole or an old stump hole an just sit an wait on smaller fish. An they get big as far as i know unless it's been broken the guiness records is 186 lbs. Caught at pickwick landing dam in Tennessee.

If a catfish can avoid predators, they can get huge, like 2 to 3 meters in length.
