Chili and cinnamon rolls is one of those very rare combinations that will shock you how good they are together. Especially on a cold, windy morning and the cinnamon rolls are warm.
Yes, Washington is the home of Starbucks, but we’re also the largest producer of apples, there are over thirty varieties grown here, plus blueberries, hops, pears, spearmint oil, and sweet cherries. We’re also the second largest growers of potatoes after our “next door neighbor” Idaho. It also produces apricots, asparagus, and grapes. I’m surprised they didn’t select one of those, or seafood. Pizza wars? Besides Chicago, New York and New Haven (Ct) Detroit also has a unique version.

The best pizza is the Tavern style pizza of certain parts of South Eastern Massachusetts. Hard to explain, but pan baked 20 minutes with thin but excellent dough.
I’m from Northern Virginia and have mainly on been to states on the east coast, but once went on vacation to Montana and Hawaii. They are very different but also similar. I think you’d like Glacier National Park and Maui.
New York style pizza is considered the standard while Chicago style is more of a tourist thing in Chicago. Not many pizza shops serve Chicago style around the country. Detroit style pizza is more popular than Chicago deep dish.
Yeah, the deep dish is specific to just a few restaurants, really. A standard thin crust is much more normal. I usually find the deep dish to be way too greasy to appreciate. From Gino's East, anyway. I enjoy Lou Malnati's quite a bit, though.
Here in Nevada the buffets are really just tourist fare at the casinos. Beef tri-tip, Basque food, sushi, Mexican food and large hamburgers known as Awful Awfuls are dishes that true Nevadan's actually favor.
I’m from the Chicago suburbs. The deep dish is a staple. But not the only style of pizza. The Tavern Style is popular here too. Which is a thinner crust.
As a Louisiana resident gumbo is delicious and if you want to try a seafood boil Louisiana is totally different from a low country boil more flavor(my opinion). Take a look at Jolly’s videos they come to Louisiana,Texas and other southern states and try southern food
Connecticut pizza, typically referred to as "apizza" (ah-beets) thanks to the dialect brought to Connecticut by the native Italians that settled here and opened the original coal fired apizza joints, is absolutely outstanding. While the city of New haven Ct. is considered a mecca, Connecticut has dozens of great spots all over the state. Chicago is tasty, but it's not actually pizza. It's more like pizza cake. Detroit, while not as thick as Chicago is still far thicker than traditional pizza. The northeast is the pizza region in the U.S. with Connecticut and New York City topping the pack. If you do get a chance grab a lobster roll, there are two distinct varieties. One is cold with mayo, while the other is warm and drizzled with warm butter. The warm version is by FAR the better of the two.
8:37 New Haven is best, one bite everybody knows the rules. I’ve never been to Maryland but bloomin brand’s bonefish grill has my favorite crab cakes or the Napa valley grill video on yt is what I use for at home. Sometimes people make crab cakes that have a thick sear which makes them not enjoyable to eat. You should want your crab cake to pull apart easily by fork the crab is tender and juicy still.
You would most like St. Louis style pizza. Chicago pizza is very deep with a ton of sauce. New York pizza is large, thing (but flexible) crust that you typically fold in half to eat. Another great style is Detroit is a deeper crust, square format and is pretty dang good.
There's a lot of personal preference in everybody's favorite pizza. There's New York style, Chicago Deep Dish (or Tavern) style, Detroit style, etc. I think the debate for a long time was between NY & Chicago, but lately I feel like I've seen a rise in Detroit style popularity. Personally, it'd be NY for my favorite.
You two should do reactions on Food Wars where they compare fast food from the U.S. to the UK. For example UK McDonald's to US MacDonald's or UK Kfc to US Kfc. There is a Domino's one where they even show what the price is of a US pizza for you to compare to the UK.
Any real Chicagoan would tell you deep dish is for tourists (Or very special occasions). Real Chicago pizza is called "Tavern Style". It's a thin crust, cut into small squares. It can be a dinner or a light snack. Deep dish pizza is nice, but it's very thick & heavy as you probably guessed.
Chicken and waffles very big in the South. But they do sell it all over the country. And boys, it delicious, pouring that Maple syrup over the chicken in the waffles together.
My mom used to make great peach cobbler from the peach trees on our property , and blackberry and huckleberry cobblers from those fruits that I would pick wild . There is no real debate about whether Chicago deep dish or NY pizza is better . Hands down it's NY pizza .
Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Michigan (in no particular order)are the pizza powehouses. Chicago deep dish isn't even a blip on the radar except for pillocks and muppets. Check out the JOLLY video on Detroit style pizza. (Except for the burger pizza and the pizza with honey those two are just a weird creation of the owner of that particular pizza shop)

8:20 Note: As a NYer born and raised in the Capital Region of NY we actually have beef with NYC because they come here during legislative and vacation high points and act like they own the place, but I have had family there all my life and have been there for business countless times. This would be my ranking for U.S. styles of pizza that I have tried in the places they originated: 1. New York Style 2. Detroit Style 3. New Haven Style 4. Tavern Style (which is what most Chicagoans actually eat on a regular basis) 5. Chicago Deep Dish (which is actually just b*tch lasagna) Explanations in reply.
NY is number 1 because it is just everything a pizza should be. Flavorful sauce, crispy airy crust, cheese, toppings, and just the right amount of grease drip when folded. Detroit Style is #2 because it's a unique spin. The crust is still nice and crisp because of the cooking style, including lovely little bits of crisped up cheese, but is has a doughier bite with a little more sweetness in the sauce which is usually fairly thick but lightly coated. New Haven style is because even though NY and Massachusetts bust on Connecticut "A PIZ!" is delectable. Crispy coal fired crust with a unique dough that is thin and the sauce has a more tomatoey taste. Tavern Style is 4th because while it is very good, the other 3 exist. Deep Dish is 5th because it isn't pizza, but it is still pretty damn tasty if you just take it for what it is, and not as a pizza.
