  • In 2009, Debi Pearl attempted to write a fiction book which, it’s no exaggeration to say is every kind of offensive you can think of. Today we're looking at the last part of The Vision.

No one is more "anti-Christ" in this book than the so-called heroes. Christ was friends with the poor, the downtrodden, and the outcast. When he found predatory money lenders in the temples, he went out and *braided his own whip* to chase them out. When a woman was to be stoned to death for her adultery - a common and accepted practice at the time - he not only stopped them, he stood between her and the stone-throwers. He encouraged civil disobedience. He fed the hungry. He healed the sick. He wept openly at a friend's bedside. He washed his friends' feet. Whether or not Christ was Divinity, using his name to justify such vileness and hatred is disgusting and betrays a true failure to comprehend Jesus's life and teachings.

If I was to write book two, I'd go for the double-whammy of plot twists: this "Anti-Christ" bringing peace to the world *would* actually be the Second Coming. Ironically, the cult this book is centered around would eventually be left behind at the Rapture, specifically because they're so arrogant as to believe God favors them especially...and because they're awful people.
The book would end with them being literally the last people on earth--they finally are free of the heathens and infidels and false Christians, and they are all alone.

Debbie: “People in Latin America don’t know Christianity enough”
Me, from Latin America and an atheist for the past half of my life: *Sometimes caught myself involuntarily making the sign of the cross when driving past a church as to not disrespect the god, which I don’t believe in, because that’s how ironclad the grasp of christianity is on people’s consciousness and on the overall culture due to - to call a spade a spade - how psychotic the degree of the indoctrination is since early childhood*
American evangelicals DREAM that they could have the widespread influence and overall weight over society as churches - mainly, The Roman Catholic one - have down south. If they knew, I don’t think they would cope with the envy. The ones who do use the “syncretism excuse” to say that actually, that’s still paganism - Which is just adorable.
Unlike, of course, their version of christianism that famously never capitulated to European paganism and adapted some of its costumes. That never happened. If your Christmas is on December 25th, guess that’s the same as Sun Worship, buddy.
No. Nobody would sincerely make that argument, specially fundamentalist christians. Well, unless if you are LDS I suppose.
So can’t my grandma have some Santería on the side? She’s still a huge fan of JC, she loves the guy. Frankly, I think even more than you Debbie, you grifting heartless ghoul.

I used to be apart of the Christian church, Methodist to be specific. But I have no idea why so many Christians have became so…materialistic. Isn’t greed and pride like two of the seven deadly sins? In fact, I am taken back by how sinful this couple is. No joke, they both display all of the deadly sins:
-Greed, for intentionally hobbling their products’ availability just to make them profitable.
-Sloth, expands off of Greed, has the potential to give out free bibles for accessibility, but doesn’t because it doesn’t benefit them. They only help people when they feel like it.
    -Lust, from the “love story.”
-Wrath, they blow up on anyone for very minuscule nitpicks and just act outright abusive towards Cheyenne.
-Gluttony, they indulge in their wealth and high status, not sharing basic things with people.
-Envy, they judge everyone with prejudice and judgement, just for the things the Couple don’t have.
-Pride, the failure of both to recognize their faults and condemns both to the cycle of the seven deadly sins.
Debi Pearl says that this is the ideal Christian family. But in reality, it’s the opposite. This all but ensures them a park bench in Hell.

as someone else already pointed out it's because they stem from the swiss-stemming christian sect of Calvinists who think that their fate is predetermined and that God shows his favour to you in life by bestowing material wealth onto you. That system is the very embodiment of the american dream in a "it doesn't matter how you got wealthy, but if you are, you must be one of God's favoured" way. Thus creating an Ouroboros of "I preach, so I make money - if I have money, I must be right" self-asserting feedback loop. No matter if the message is moral or even consistent with the actual christian faith they claim to represent.

For instance, when Obama was first elected in 2008 there was a widespread conspiracy theory that he was secretly Muslim and would usher in Sharia Law. I can't say I abstained completely, but I wasn't quite as bad about it as some people I knew. I remember being disgusted and calling out a friend for joking about whether we'd be safe getting on the same rollercoaster as a Muslim family who was in line behind us. Calvinism is also sometimes referred to as the "Reformed" faith or church because it came after the initial Reformation, instead splitting from the Catholic Church directly instead of being an off-shoot of Lutheranism as most other Protestant creeds are. It started in part as a reaction to early forms of Protestant movements that “didn’t go far enough.” John Calvin basically considered having fun as inherently sinful, a slippery slope to eternal damnation. The Puritans of England were essentially Calvinist in ideology, for example; the Pearls and Duggars merely represent the survival of the sect into the modern age. It is through the Puritan connection that we have the Evangelicals, Baptists, and other "New World" sects popular in the Bible Belt of America.
Calvinists believe in predestination-basically, God’s already laid your fate for you; you can’t make your way into the kingdom of heaven, only lose that privilege. Faith is the only part that matters, good works are completely irrelevant (in constant, the Catholic Church espouses faith and good deeds in tandem, while many other forms of Protestantism just emphasize the first without writing off the latter). Free will exists, but we are all inherently sinful. They also have the whole "the Lord works in mysterious ways" thing, where every single act on earth is some representation of God's will.
Following from these fundamental beliefs, it makes sense as to why the Duggars and Pearls are so "forgiving" (ie, don't care about being held responsible for their actions); the only thing that matters is Faith, you can be literally the worst person who ever lived but can still get into heaven by belief in Christ. If that sounds contradictory with the whole obsession with sinfulness, that's because it is; but these people already believe they have a free ticket to heaven just by believing, and you don't. Thus, they tend to espouse a "sins for thee, not for me" attitude.

As a German I can confirm, we have about 4 websites.
All the other websites we also do not understand as it's impossible to learn another language. I wish I knew English to be able to read this comment

I’ve been on more than 4 German websites buying Kreator, Helloween and Blind Guardian merch, lol. I’ve also been on Mytholon and Burgschneider to buy medieval-ish clothing

The people shaming you about you speaking about past trauma from your family are disgusting. You don’t owe them shit and the people whining to you sound like they themselves are guilty of something they’ve done to their own family members.

    [Spoiler below]
I can't believe that Debi kills Magdalene. I think this confirms how much Debi fundamentally despises that character.

The only book I think makes even less sense than this one has to be Empress Theresa. I'm not sure Rachel should put herself through that though...
