That’s why I always travel with a mechanic man. My car breaks, he fixes it. No problems for me 🥰

If only everybody was that lucky! 🍀😜

When you bring stuff to most sizable shops you’re paying the mechanics to do the work, service adviser to write it up, the assistants to move vehicles, the shops insurance, llc, ect while the owner takes his cut too. It’s gonna be a hit to the wallet no matter what, taking it there is the first mistake😂

Yeah that wheel bearing bill was obnoxiously expensive. I understand the people and the shops gotta make money, but they’re not gonna get mine! But yeah, avoiding bringing your car to those shops is the best way to avoid the bills in the first place🤣

AutoZone and O’Reily are garbage and overpriced. Firestone is over priced. Dealerships charge gold bricks for diags and repairs. Knowing how to fix basic things saves an insane amount of money. The dealership I work at charges like $200+ for an oil change if you want Full Synthetic oil. Where as you can go to Walmart, buy better oil, and a good filter for like $50. And O’Reily and AutoZone will recycle the oil for you. Another problem is that parts are shit and it’s a luck draw if you get a good Chinese part or a shit Chinese part. Even OEM, quality control has gone down the shitter.

I’ve noticed that quality control has gone down the drain as well. I was going to touch on that in the video, but I didn’t want to complicate the subject and add more to an already lengthy video😂
RockAuto is where I get most of my stuff, and in the past it used to be a bit better than Autozone or O’Reily’s, but in the past few years I’ve really noticed a decline in quality there too.
Luckily I don’t have a lot of experience with dealerships, but I know they’re nicknamed “stealer-ships” for a reason. Changing your own oil, knowing how to do brake pads/Rotors, and being able to put on a spare tire is like the MINIMUM that will help you get by. Thanks for watching!🙏🏻

I just had a customer with a 04 Dodge 2500 5.7 4x4 6"lift who had a estimate drawn up at a local shop here in Co.
They racked this guy's bill to around 4k$ for radiator, sway bar end links, oil pan gasket and transpan gasket.
They said he needed new ball joints for the entire front end and a new track bar.
He didn't need either of those. I've NEVER seen a OIL PAN gasket cost 500$ before. It's ridiculous what these people are charging.
So far ive done the rad replace, the oil pan gasket and the transmission pan gaskets.
We just barely hit the 4 hour mark(waiting for the end links now).

Yeah it's crazy how much they charge for some of the OEM parts. I swear they must be made of gold sometimes. One of the shops that I had my forester towed to when the wheel bearings blew up in between SoCal and Phoenix quoted me $4,700 to fix one of them. They said I needed new ball joints, control arms, calipers all around, brake pads and rotors, tie rods, sway bars, CV Axles, and a steering knuckle or two. I said no thanks and had the car towed back to Phoenix and fixed it in a parking lot🤣

Brother, I turned into a mechanic cause getting a car fixed cost fucking money, and most mechanics are slops and are on time constraints and thats what makes them so sloppy because they are being timed and they dont have time for details because they arent getting paid for details, they are getting paid to do it.

Yeah man I never thought I’d be as mechanically inclined as I am now, but out of necessity I’ve learned a lot! These shops are making me do their work for 5% of the cost🤣

And stop complaining and do it yourself unless you rich

That’s what I’m talkin about though! Shops are super expensive and can be sloppy a lot of the time, so being able to do it yourself saves you a ton of money. Even if you’re rich, I feel like there’s better uses of your money than spending it at a mechanic shop for some basic maintenance😂
