I still remember when I did this mission I spared Darko. I then got in a car, drove round the corner and out of nowhere Darko ran in front of me and I accidentally ran him over.
"What goes around, comes around"

@@rubberchix He's not lying, pretty much the same happened to me once. The dialogue stops and immediately plays the one if you kill him.

@Raven Douglas But those events took place in Yugoslavia..
Sometimes i feel like Rockstar intentionally make Darko look like Niko. It's like a message to Niko that this will be him in the future if he went too deep into criminal world.
LaVitaNouva Nope, they just recycled nikos character model into Darko's,cause this was already the end of the game and wasting time on a new model would just bring up more work.
17:21
Cat Face that's so lazy tho. I don't think they'd do that
LaVitaNouva that would make sense after all his name is darko kinda like suppose to be a name that resembles niko darkside or dark niko
Definitely, the whole conversation they have is so ironic. "you killed your friends for $1000?" "How much do you charge to kill people." Definitely hits different if you kill Dwayne instead of Playboy
"How much do you charge to kill someone?"
this is by far the best line in the entire game.
Powerful & Sad at the same Time

He pulled the reverse uno
Well this guy gave up his whole Army unit of friends and the Village he grew up for not even the cost of one life at Nikos rate
@@rubenlopez3364 yeah but the people they were fighting with were his friends too. He is basically saying that the whole war was a lie. Roman immediately after Niko’s most intense moment: “Will you take me to Brucie’s house?”
Imagine if he said take me to a burger shot lol
In TBoGT Roman is seen going to Maisonette 9 with Brucie so it made some sense.
Zach Addington he would say “Lets go bowling”
He and Bruce were probably getting ready for the wedding.
I know right? Thought he'd offer to drive at least given that Niko would be pretty shaken.
Did anyone notice the symbolism during the phone call if Niko spared Darko? He started the phone call by calling him Florian and then ended it by calling him Bernie. That is a phone call I will never forget.

Fuck me the storytelling in this game was way more effective than GTA V
+Devon Rogers I've always said this to my friends and they say im talking bullshit - GTA V had a 'fun' storyline but it was nowhere near as deep and enthralling as GTA IV and they always use the argument that V is better because you can swap players - I'll take GTA IV / Gay Tony / LATD anyday lol
+Lamont Coleman your friends are stupid af...
+Lamont Coleman IV might have had a much deeper and enthralling storyline, but that didn't equal great missions (especially when more than 90% of them involved doing errands which translated into monotonously driving somewhere and killing a bunch of guys). V returned to the unrealistic and over the top storyline and missions of the 3D era GTA games, and that was mostly due to fan requests. In fact, this whole thing started before V, it started with IV's own expansion packs.
+Lamont Coleman Exactly what I think
I feel like one of the reasons that GTA IV had such a great storyline was because the main protagonist wasn't an American. With the other games, it's so linear (money is the main goal) and you can kind of see where it's going but with the different idea and the bits and pieces of the Serbo-Croatian language intermixed. It feels different and new ( and foreign, which it is). But still, this love for the intermixed language might just be because My family is from Niko's homeland and I speak the language and live in NYC so it's more special and remarkable to me. But nevertheless, I really enjoy the difference and incorporation of other countries in the story of GTA IV by itself. Which is also why I want there to be parts of the next GTA to be in another country so we can see a world we don't live in every day. America is great, I'm not saying the entire game should be in some other country, but I want something really new. A land where the rules are different and crime is less contained so you can really explore and be surprised by the newness.
Honestly, this mission was so well done. If it wasn't for Roman being a moral support I would've definitely blown Darko's brains out all over the pavement.
Yeah honestly killing someone wont change anything
GamingGeek//GEEKGAMES I agree killing them for revenge solves nothing imo niko did enough killing and darko got a point how much u charge to kill someone

You know, it's moments like this in the game that really make me wonder why so many people say Niko is a bad character. I don't see it, *at all*.
There's nothing really wrong with the three protagonists. I dunno why people didn't like playing "bad people" cause in general you were always playing bad people. People liked Niko because unlike Micheal, Trevor, and Franklin he didn't choose that criminal lifestyle. It's just that one specific event in his life that pushed him into it. And that's why players sympathized with him, like he seemed like a real person. I mean sure I can't imagine Niko being as efficient of a killer he is in gameplay, and taking an absurd amount of bullets. But I can imagine there being "Niko Bellics" in this world. Men who were delt a shit hand, or had a rough background, and work as a criminal cause that's all they know.
No one is saying that. You just listened to stupid people.

I thought Darko was going to be a big villain of the game based on how dedicated Niko was in hunting him. But instead what we got was a drug addict with nothing to live for. To be honest, this breaking of expectation kinda works.
easily the best story ever crafted by Rockstar in my opinion

gta v or red dead redemption
GTA V story is overrated
gta v does not have a fucking story, it's just about a bunch of robbers, it's just for online or messing around
GTA V storyline it's just big piece of shit.
GTAV's story was basically a typical GTA plot prior to GTAIV. Instead of having a more serious and gripping narrative, it's more comedic, which does make sense. GTA is satire.

I let him live because he has got a miserable life already. And letting Darko know that Niko had the chance to execute him should mess up his mind even more I think. And it's also essential for Nikos character development. He's criminal, he does bad stuff, but sparing Darko would be another proof that Niko has a good soul.
For me, Niko is a pragmatic guy. He does what has to be done, when he gets a job from someone, he does it, no matter what. But in this case, killing Darko was not necessary.
If you spare him it's unreasonable to choose the revenge ending
@@DotyFuzz I can't agree with that.
Darko screwed Niko over in the past, but the guilt destroyed him and he was no longer a threat.
He was completely helpless and even told Niko that he would be doing him a favor if he killed him.
Darko's crime was literally a thing of the past. The distant past.
Dimitri on the other hand was an active threat.
His crimes were a thing of the present and he would endanger Roman and his friends time and time again throughout the course of the game.
And he was a much bigger snake than Darko ever was, constantly betraying people, when they were no longer useful to him.
Revenge ending makes sense in that regard. It would finally put a stop to Dimitri's tyranny and he would no longer be threat to Niko and his loved ones.
The Deal-ending is all the proof you'd ever need for this.
I always thought that was kind of a lame reason for sparing him. If he hated life like that he'd prob just kill himself. Had to kill him for the badass cutscene.
@@paragonyoshi4237 I agree, I chose the revenge ending too, but not for revenge, I couldn't have cared less about Dimitri. It's just that I didn't trust him and he was an active threat that had to be taken care of.

Man, imagine if there was a mission that took place in Niko's past war experience. Damn, i would've liked that to be implemented in the main game.
I'd love a Bosnian war game where it shows the brutality of war and makes the player feel bad about killing npcs, the horrible crimes witnessed, and to make the player truly think war is bad. The protagonist should be niko and to get us to bond with nikos friends and when darko betrays them, we can return to gta 4 to see if darko truly deserved to be spared or not.
@@thepeskyone I got a name for you, Spec Ops: The Line
"You killed my friends for one thousand dollars?"

Damn that's some fucking good writing.
Niko looks similar to Darko because Niko has become Darko. Darko has killed his friends deliberately for $1,000. Niko also earns his money through killing. 90% of the people he kills are scumbags, but that doesn't make it right. Even though they are scumbags, they are still someone's friend, someone's child, someone's father, someone's husband. In "Undertaker", he sheepishly attends the funeral in order to comfort Packie and Kate, while knowing all along that he was the one behind their loss. Ultimately, Niko losing either Roman or Kate was a lesson for him, so that he could understand how he made other people feel once someone close to them "is taken away and isn't coming back" (as Niko himself describes Roman's death).

GTA IV is the best history ever in GTA, GTA V final missions felt like Rockstar was like "hey this is taking too long, we need to focus on MP, lets just make some shit to end all the lose ends and mask the lack of soul SP are with some bullshit player choices"
San Andreas feels the same way for me, just with no multiplayer.
san andreas is a little bit better than V
I think it was done on purpose cuz GTA V also takes place in Los Santos like San Andreas so maybe in GTA VI otter be like in Vice City
Lmao no.
The story in V wasn't bad, but it was short and had little depth or feeling to it. It certainly felt that they just wanted to give people who enjoy the story mode just some scraps to gnaw on while focusing making Online their cash grab.
I'm not religious but I pray that this isn't the direction Rockstar wants to take.
Thanks man, happy you like them :)
DARKO : "How much do you charge to kill someone?"

Once, when I was a kid playing this in like 2010, I accidentally just punched darko and for whatever reason Roman finished him off lol

I just realized niko calling his old friend by Bernie if he spares darko, and florian if he killed darko. A stark contrast between a man who moved on, and another stuck in the past. What a fine and amazing detail
Oh that’s really interesting.
Twelve people died, three escaped. Twelve shots to kill Darko.
"How much do you charge to kill someone?" such a simple fucking line yet holds so much meaning..... The entire game Niko is looking for the person who betrayed him and his friends.... Seeking revenge upon a man who took away the slither of innocence and happiness he was left with during the war.... And when we finally find him turns out him and us are just alike.... We kill for money.... And so did he.... We too kill many friends and loved ones for money.... And so did he.... It was at that moment that killing Darko just felt wrong.... It felt like I would become the man I despised the whole game..... Its amazing writing
4:16 IM THE ONE who survived...
Holy fucking hell that gave me some serious chills
It's crazy how much Darko mirrors Niko in almost every aspect.
For some strange reason, I actually want to play as Darko Brevic, see the story from his perspective. Maybe he made a mistake, maybe he really needed the money, maybe the friends that he ambushed weren't all that good after all. I don't know, this whole thing feels so unresolved to me. A story leading up to the events of Darko turning into this person who clearly doesn't enjoy his own life would be fun to play.
mrknockknock1 They should make a prequel set during the war.
Well maybe it a little bit late, but the reason why darko betray them, just because he addict to drugs. He was a junkie
I agree with you. I don't think Darko just betrayed the squad because of his ambition. I assume that he himself survived the terrible oppression of the war, in the aggregate of what actions were committed by his squad, and not the fact that Niko at that time would have done better. It is a pity that this was not disclosed in any way.
He was just bluffing, he enjoys his life. If you spare him he runs away as fast as he can
@@tonym1712 That proves nothing. Its everyone's instinct to run away from imminent danger when they can. He was miserable, not suicidal. When he was tied up and surrounded, he knew there was no point in running away, so those reflexes simply didn't start up.
All the tensions and fights Nico went through in the game was led to this moment. It's the climax Niko wanted for, and for that Rockstar made the most emotional and the darkness vibe to the Grand Theft Auto's moment ever. Not gonna lie, this is by far the best GTA Story ever made in the GTA franchise
I like how even in near death, Darko still gave Niko a nice currency exchange from Serbian money to USD

5:09 Goddamn did that part nearly kill the whole scene for me, I nearly died laughing
too bad r* screwed over nikos voice actor so he will never return
Gnar ah there's nothing Money and an apology couldnt fix
What happened
Michael Hollick (Niko) wasn't paid as much as he should've been so he resigned with Rockstar completely.
Same thing happened with Ray Liotta for Vice City. Real shame considering how much money Rockstar has...
Rockstar didn't screw over anyone. A contract was signed and payment decided. If Hollick wanted more he should have asked more. Absolutely nobody in the game industry gets paid royalties based on the success of a game. It was Hollick's own fault for knowing nothing about videogames and how profitable it could be. He saw GTAIV as a minor gig, didn't expect anything of it, then complained when it turned out the game did really well. Rockstar would have to be fucking nuts to pay him more than what was agreed upon. Every other voice actor in the game would come holding up their hands demanding more as well.
I wonder why the developers didn't include Bernie in the meeting? Either he would've urged Niko to spare Darko or his old self would've come out uncontrollably and either way he might have taken away Niko's decision to kill him or spare him. That would have been really interesting, but at the same time cliche.
GTA IV is perfect as it is.

I didn't like the whole game that much, but the ending worth it completely, my fav GTA after playing all of them.
When I saw this for the first time, I was a teenager, I killed Darko, without even thinking about it.

GTA IV was such a better story then GTA V. GTA IV remastered with Vs game engine? I'm jizzing my pants just thinking about it.
The Duffy Street Incident Podcast GTA IV's was better imo
none of your business fuck off
The Duffy Street Incident Podcast just download icenhancer 3.0
No
Kuma Wilson No it is not the same engine
This mission is more meaningful than the entire GTA V storyline
Thanks, I am happy you enjoy my videos.
I will probably wait for the PC version, and yes I will make GTA V videos :)
Ok I already subscribe
8:35 Niko shot him 12 times, once for each of the 12 people killed
This is why GTA IV is superior to GTA 5
max payne 4 still cancelled soz R/woosh
@Nick L4D2 He's saying the amount of thought that went into 4's story is much greater than 5's.
@@wallaby57 you can't judge games only for story. Gameplay also matters. And it's better in V.
@@catweird. the gameplay in gta 5 is pretty immature and childish with easy controls and a cartoonish atmosphere. what is so special in it
@@fastcar544 easy controls? If you mean cars, gta 5 is more realistic because all cars have normal suspension and don't drift into the pole on 10 mph. It's easier but it's better. About shooting, in gta 5 you don't have aim while in cover and you have recoil on all weapons except SMGs. Anyway, I meant that V offers more than shooting, driving and shooting from the car in missions..
4:38 top 5 dramatic anime scenes
Hilarious and original
Wow hilarious dude
I love it when the NPC tries to to open the door on the wrong side and another NPC in the background asks: "Are you some kind of idiot?". This is when Rockstar had Tegridy.
The atmosphere of this game is so nostalgic.
Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption are easily my favorite games of all time.
Mine too
I absolutely love how wonderfully foreboding GTA 4 was. Niko's story is one of raw gripping emotion that is impossible to forget & will never let you go.
"If the Price is Right" will be uploaded tommorow, but I will be on vacation so Revenger's Tragedy will take some time
3:37 I like how the slight camera shift to the left really represents your confused response to the random sideways car on the interstate.
