Got another 3rd overall! We had some NRL Huner type stages and I really struggled there. I could not even find the targets!! So, that is something I need to work on, for sure. But, when I was on, I was getting good hits. Overall I am happy with the result. I wish I could have seen targets a little faster, but it was a windy day and my Kestrel data seemed to be on. So, I am quite pleased with that. I am finally getting the hang of that tool. I will show off soon what the tricks I have learned about it are. Thank you for watching and hanging for a few. I hope your Christmas was excellent and the rest of this week treats you well. Have a great weekend!!!
@@Dwayne7834 Thank you, Dwayne!! I am getting confident on the skills I have gotten down. Always finding new things I want to improve though! Eventually I will be up for going to a pro level match. See how I stack up in something like that. 2025 goal!! I hope you had a great Christmas! Thank you for watching. See you on the next one!!
@@dalepogue5799 I shall. I think I need to get some glasses without prescription lenses and see if that helps to see contrast better. Those danged targets were just hiding!! Totally missed seeing them for way too long. More to learn as always! But the things I do well, I am getting down pretty solid! Hope you had a great Christmas, Dale!!
@michaeldunn150 Thank you, Michael. I do keep trying to put it all together. Found another issue I need to solve soon. Those targets were so hard to see. Have some ideas to figure out a fix tho!! Thanks for stopping by, man. I hope you had a great Christmas. Enjoy the last weekend of 2024!!!
Nice shootin'! There's no way I'd see those low contrast hunter style targets... at least I doubt it. I wish I could give you advice on finding those targets, but I'm not good at that.
@DocJustinT Thank you, Justin! When I was on target, I was pretty good. But yeah, either just the conditions this day. No target paint. Color of surrounding areas, or sun angle. Or all of those combined. But I just could not see some, even lookikg directly at it!! Plus, on the Hunter stages I am lookikg with binos, so only 10 power. Good for fast scanning, but not great for fine details. I have more to work on for this. Going to try some Oakleys with Prizm lenses. Those worked well with prescription lenses to see contrast. But then I had scope shadow. Maybe combo of contacts and regular glasses will be the magic trick to solve all/most of my eye issues. Getting old sucks!! 🤣 But dang it, I am gonna keep trying things until I get a fix figured out! Have a great Friday and an awesome last weekend of 2024!!!!
@Hazzbro1964 Thank you, Hazz!! I seem to be doing well in the things I have worked on. Did well with my wind calls. Very pleased with that! Need to figure out something for seeing targets better. I don't remember it being this hard before. But, I was wearing prescription Oakley Prizm lenses, so that may have been the key. Need to test some non script glasses with Prizm lenses. See if that helps me make out the contrast. Have yourself a great rest of the year!! And wishing you an awesome 2025!!!
@@JamesJohnson-if8rz Thank you! I don't think pro will be soon, but it is the goal to make it to a pro event. I find things every time that I need to improve. I realized my old glasses gave me better contrast, so I could see things better. Not worn since switched to contacts. Time to get some Oakleys again and see if that helps find the targets better! Thanks for watching, man. I hope you had a great Christmas!!!
@@ChadKelly7 it was ... An event. Yeah. I have astigmatism so, contacts can be an issue. Last time I used them was almost twenty years ago.. eyepro does make a difference. What glass you using? I have been told different glass views differently. Due to the coatings apparently? Same with the shade of eyepro. Sometimes it really helps. Amber/yellow lenses can be useful.
@JamesJohnson-if8rz I run a Vortex Razor. Very good glass. I was having shadow when prone with my prescription lenses. Contacts work for following my pupil. Need something like the Oakley Prizm lenses I think so I can see contrast better. In theory, that will correct this invisible target issue. Worth testing the idea to find out!!
Congratulations on your placement. I have been wanting to visit the range, but the current cold weather has made me postpone it, I just don't do good at all in the cold.
@mikewhite2aadvocacy172 Thank you, Mike! Hope you had a great Christmas!! Yeah, I am not a fan of the cold at all. Summer here is painfully hot and winter is painfully cold. The wind will just cut thru and make my hands totally non-functional! I do a lot to try and keep them warm, but prefer to shoot with no gloves. If I remember to keep moving, I can manage. Good luck and I hope it warms up for you soon!! Have a great rest of the year!!
@@ChadKelly7 Sounds like from the video you had a grand Christmas with your family and thanks for the warm wishes. The heat I can deal with, but the cold is a whole different story, my fingers quit working, and I start to shiver and that is not good for accuracy at all. I wish all of the best for you in the coming year.
@mikewhite2aadvocacy172 Yeah, we were planning to skip Christmas this year. Dad had a bit of cancer found. Went thru chemo and radiation a few months back, still compromised immune system tho! So the plan was to avoid the kids and grandkids, lol. They showed up Sunday anyway 🤣 Was good to hang out a bit unexpectedly. We really figured dad would be in the ICU. He was planning to have his surgery the Monday before Christmas. They moved it to first Monday of January. Oddly, the day before his birthday. So he will be spending number 78 in the ICU and likely not know what is going on, lol. So yes, not a planned Christmas, but a very good one!! Dude, my fingers are the worse in the cold. Learned that I have bad blood flow to my hands. Not bad enough to get medication for it, but just enough to really make my hands cold. I am trying that Umzu supplement, Redwood, this winter. You probably see those ads!! I am giving it a try, and I can say I still get cold hands, but they seem to warm up much faster when covered and last longer after removing gloves. Worth a try!!
@@ChadKelly7 I am hoping all the best for your Dad and will keep him in prayer, I'm glad to hear that you are finding some relief with the Umzu, perhaps I give that a shot, but I have to be careful in what I take because of my heart, TTYL
@mikewhite2aadvocacy172 Thank you. He is tough and in good shape. He will not enjoy being forced to move slow the next weeks, but he will get thru it all! I started low and worked up to their full dose. It has a lot of Vitamin C. Getting plenty and no sniffles this winter!!
Five magazines? Goodness! I got four of those AW magazines.. they better last a long time; think they will. Nice leaf spring and solid welds. I bet it does make life easier. Are you using a two stage or single stage trigger? Even little gloves with a warm pocket really help. Pull them off before it is time. Or, you could get some heaters.😅
@@JamesJohnson-if8rz Yeah, they were on sale for 20 bucks! Might as well load up!! Those AW are super nice. Very high quality. I run a single stage Triggertech on this. 2 stage Triggertech on my AR. Both are very nice! Yeah, I have several gloves and electric heaters. I have a waist mounted hand hutt thing also. Toss the heater in there and then warm hands up between stages. I like shooting without gloves tho. If I keep moving, I am good. Sitting still gets me. Luckily, I seldom sit still 🤣
@ChadKelly7 I got one of those bix protacx things in 2stage. Have a Geiselle trigger in my maten. The over travel on this bix is kind of.. growing. Especially after having no over travel stop on my gp100. For $20/ea.. it may be worth the investment. AW mag is nice. Sure.. in my hand. Very heavy. Built like a tank. Hits my wallet like one too. *Shrug* just gotta get them engraved and stained. Or something. Losing one is not a priority. You had some nice footage in there. I agree. Some of those targets were hard to see. More UV filter or.. a different filter would help. Just from a guy used to issues. Red/green deficiency and astigmatism can be problematic. A few different inserts on eyepro really help.
@JamesJohnson-if8rz I have not tried any of the Bix triggers. Someday I may get the chance. I made myself a triggers snob on accident early in my firearms journey, lol. Definitely don't lose those mags!! Laser etch initials on them if you may lose them. I get mad at myself losing 1 piece of brass at a match, a whole mag would make me crazy🤣 I am gonna test some other glasses. I am an Oakley dealer at my work, so I can try most of the lens types out and see if I can find one to address this issue. Could just be my eyes!! But, at least I can find a problem and work to a solution instead of keep making the same errors!
