While James probably didn't literally want to fight monster for Mary, I do wonder if he wanted to protect her like you have to do for Maria here. He does say that he hates or loathes what Mary had become because of her illness, but I wonder if that is just how James felt after being worn down for years. If he ever had this kind of protective feelings towards Mary, or if he is compensating here. I wonder why the White Chrism wasn't broken this time and it was the first time? I have to guess that mechanically it was just protecting Maria, but more interested in why narratively and what it meas for the setting. Given that Silent Hill is a place/state of being of torment, it generally doesn't change what it is offering. Maria does seem to mirror Jame's speech and actions on more than one occasion. You do point it out, but it is also more obvious on a rewatch. Every interaction, every conversation, she just tires to tie herself and James deeper and deeper together. Even while doing that though, its like she tires to keep distance between the two of them and then blames it on James. Just a masterclass on manipulation.
0451/451 is famous for being the first code in a ton of games, mostly by looking glass. was the first code in system shock, became an imsim trope after that. Has been a thing for decades.
6:21 - why do you think they make swords out of them in WH40k?
😛

12:59 - why is it? I honestly have no idea of the significance, and even had to rewind to notice what you put in.😅
