  • Discover the vibrant town of Fort William, nestled at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles. Explore the historic streets, admire the stunning scenery, and embark on exciting adventures in the surrounding Highlands. From hiking and climbing to boating and wildlife spotting, there's something for everyone in this picturesque destination. Experience the true spirit of Scotland in Fort William.
After completing the NC 500, we stayed in Fort William for a few days. It is a town in Lochaber in the West Highlands of Scotland, and known as the "Outdoor Capital of the UK" due to its proximity to stunning scenery and a variety of outdoor activities.
Located on the eastern shore of Loch Linnhe, with Ben Nevis and Aonach Mòr to the east, and Glen Coe and Glenfinnan to the west, it is a picturesque setting and a major tourist center, as it's a great base for exploring the Scottish Highlands.
We met new friends at the Ben Nevis Inn for an amazing dinner, did some great beer tasting at the Black Isle Bar, enjoyed a fine meal at Spice Tandoori and did lots of walking!
We also took some day trips: Don't miss our video from Glenfinnan where we went for the Highland Games at the Glenfinnan Gathering.

This is such prime hiking area. The next video we’ll be at Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain. Nothing like Norway, but impressive by British standards.

Your tour of Fort William was fantastic! The scenic stops you made along the way from Garve, especially with the historical insights about Buie Priory, were captivating. The detour through farmland sounds like a fun adventure, and your dining recommendations, particularly the venison burger with haggis, have my mouth watering! I'm excited to see where your travels take you next.👍

So many parts of Scotland remind me of New Zealand - but there’s definitely an Australian feel too.
