  • Hey Guys, Migs Here! In today’s video, I am attempting to start the motorcycle, a 1980 Honda CB750c, for the first time in almost 20 years! This engine is going to be put onto the Half Scale NASCAR once it’s ready! Before we tried this, I reassembled the carburetors, installed them, and then tested for spark, installed a new battery, spark plugs and many others. Thanks for Watching! I would tro some starting fluid/gas in to de cylinders to get it running then it might be easier to narrow down the problem, keep it up

@@moshiba3210 its only harmful for two stroke motors. And the reason it is harmful for two strokes is because two stroke engines get cyclinder lubrication from the premixed gas. And MOST. Starting fluids do not have oil like properties. HOWEVER starting fluids with Upper cylinder lubrication are safe for twostrokes if you only plan on using it to get her fired up.

That engine is good for 1 thing: A boat anchor. I dont think you chould have found a heavier engine if you tried. IF- and that is a BIG if, That engine ever runs you need to re-do the whole back frame of the gokart. You are changing a 20 pound engine for a 200 pound engine and that go kart is NOT buildt to have a heavy engine like that. And maybe it is time to get a Battery booster/jumper pack?? It feels like every other video i watch you buying a new battery.... And next time start the build with a compession tester. Some of the valves may be stuck open or dont close completely. Do your self a big favor and throw out that engine(bike) And get a singel cylinder engine. Go and watch Grind hard plumbing`s videos. They have done Amazing things with a xr 250 and a crf 450 engine. And while you are searching YT, Go watch Mustie1 videos. And see how easy it is to try starting an engine, and how hard you are doing it. you dont need carbrators to start up a engine. just squirt some fuel in to the engine and see if it fires. Good luck with that thing. Cheers

Hey there, ive got a possible answer for you. The plug wires on that bike have resisters built into them. The spark plugs you just bought also have resisters in them, thats what the R stands for. If you double up on resisters it will result in a weak spark. My BMW is the same. Get the right plugs... Good luck sir, i enjoy your content.

Also, NGK are great for rice burners I was just typing when you showed NGK plugs, some even don't require gap. I rebuilt a 1974 Honda XR75 that was trashed in a wooded area here in Texas, I traded it for a 1974 Honda Elsinore 250 Enduro that also needed a lot of work but that bike was a treasure😍 had tank with oil that mixed in with gas as you throttle it, some lowlifes stole it, from truck bed, chained cut, was eating breakfast at a Denny's on the way to Floresville. Anywho, good work and good luck on this Honda😎

STARTING FLUID!!!! Or dribble some gas down the spark plug holes. You literally don't even need the carbs on to try it. If it fires you know you still have work to do on the carbs. If it doesn't then you know it's either low compression ( which I highly doubt ), spark or timing. If it was a 2 stroke or for the people worried about washing the oil off the cylinder walls there is starting fluid with upper cylinder lubrication you can use.

Hey Migs, if i may give some advice, first off all, you'v got the wrong spark plugs, the R stands for a resistor, specially made for cars, to have no interference with the radio..the spark u have now is wayyy to weak.... just go to some bike store, they know and have what you need for sure, after that i would clean out the exhausts, or just remove those, you noticed some mouse nests? what better place for a mouse to build a nest then a dark exhaust...pooring some gas directly into the cilinders is Always a good idea, after having ATF oil in the cilinders, cleans it out really well, oil also takes down the combustion a LOTT....at last, the pistons in the carburator have to move really smooth, as you know they have the gasneedles attached, if the dont move, or move smoothly all 4 at the same time, the engine will never run smoothly...loots off smooths :D...anyway, polish m out, wetsanding with 600grid works great, for starting, the easiest way is Always using starterfluid, or simply breakcleaner, and don't close the choke all the way, it does need a little air.... i'v done things like this for like 30 years...see some really funny mistakes, but absolutely have respect for your effortt, best advice from a biker….keep the shiny side up :D

Fuel air compression and spark. Good spark. Maybe too much air rushing it without the air filters on. And fuel if the needles are being weird could also be the problem. Try with their box and use another throttle for easier revving. Also just a though idle screws can assist you with the rev (if you can access it)

Make sure theres no mouse nest or bees or any crap in the exhaust. If the carbs are good and bowls are filling with gas check to see if the plugs are getting wet. It may be getting flooded. Or, its possible the rings are seized to the piston and not sealing enough to give you any compression. Valves could be stuck open also. Take the rocker covers off and make sure all of the valves are coming up of you aren't getting compression. Get a compression tester. Theyre like 20 bucks at harbor freight.

Your on the right track as are your followers. Those are CV carbs, and the slides are driven by vacuum at the top cap, and the slides have to be satin slide. Can't be any vacuum leaks to the diaphrams or the peacock either. She will start if your valve clearances are on spec, with start fluid. The plugs are resistors, not going to work. Your float levels need bench set. Best wishes.

I would definitely invest in some starting fluid. Hook the throttle cable up to an old brake lever from a bike or even the clutch lever temporarily. I would leave the battery tender on while trying 2 fire it. Hopefully hooking up the throttle cable 2 Something allows you the extra maneuverability to manually choke it and hit it w starting fluid to finally get that first start out of the way. Good luck!

Starter fluid first. If you hold the can back far enough you can prob run it for a few seconds off just starter fluid. May have someone else hit the start button. Open the chokes back up. Get two cans of st. Fluid spray a couple seconds in each carb. Then try to start it. If it fires up use one can for the left carbs and one can for the right. You can pulse the triggers on the cans to give it just enough to keep it idling.

Just put some starter fluid or gasoline in the intake of the carbs and inside the cylinder the next time you try to start it..... Its a carb engine, so you need to tune it to Rich setting because you do not have an air filter to limit the airflow. Do not flood the engine with excess throttle and Choke On. In that case, it won't start. Avoid giving it excess throttle during start.

Yea, starting fluid spray directly into the intake. Check valves for sticking open and adjust the lashe.

Use starting fluid till u can get it running I've been doing mechanic work for 17 years and I've I had this issue a few times with thing that sat a long time starting fluid helps a lot and try to get the chokes to work so you can control it so you don't flood it

also, did you put the throttle slides in the correct way? there should be the tiniest gap inbetween the throttle slide and the venturi at idle

Hey make sure u read this asap. With those old school carburetors they do not have Jets to have slides on the inside of the carburetors you can raise lower the little c clip if you raise it it'll add more fuel I mean lower it my father is an old school bike mechanic you have to have the original carburetors for that bike and you have to have to put the airbox on it for those carburetors to run right you can use aftermarket carbs but it will not run right you have to put the original carbs and you have to put the original airbox on it for those engines to run right they were designed to run with an air box trust me put the old carbs back on it and put the airbox on it and it'll be a new animal

You had mice living in that engine, I would suggest to strip it down in case there’s any unwanted things there especially the exhaust. Good luck

Check for compression. Valves may have stuck open if they haven't moved in a decate. Take the valve cover of and see if they are moving and check for gaps.

Put a little bit of gas in each cylinder with the plugs out then install the plugs back in if it fires with gas down the plug hole you know it's the janky carbs you can do it your almost there 👍👍

You need to put your choke wire on and get some starting fluid and maybe even a new starter or have it on the charger when you crank it cause it’s not cranking very fast, when you took the spark plug out it almost fired because it cranked fast to get more spark

I think they rebuild because they are sit like long time and the engine parts they are most of them they are rusted and freeze
